Hi,

Hopes that everyone is having a good Eid.

I had an unfortunate event this Eid. On Chand Raat, at around 3AM i put my phone to charging and slept then at around 5AM i woke up to check any notification and noticed that the Wi-Fi was turned off i tried to turn it on but it didn't turn even after touching it several times. I panicked and searched on the net about it. At some websites, they mentioned to Clear Cache Partition i tried but didn't work. I also Factory Reset but all in vain.

The slider of Wi-Fi turn to the right but it doesn't light up and same goes from notification area if i touch Wi-Fi icon it just dims down and not properly turns on. Same goes for Bluetooth. SIM is working though.

I also saw on some website that it needs to be replaced by new Wi-Fi IC.

Does anyone know about this problem or can help in any way? Thank you.

The IC Which controls power to both Wifi and bluetooth is dead.

The repair is a risky one though.
Hit or miss, if you do it locally.

If you have warranty, get it claimed.

Unforunately my note 2 has met the same fate.

What chicken said ^

Common issue with the P8 Lite, affected tons of people here, Huawei was repairing them for free if they were under warranty, not sure if they'd still do that.

Go to the service center and hear what they have to say.

UPDATE: I tried getting it checked at two shops at Dubai Plaza. Both said that this is a genuine in almost all P8 Lite sets and it's unrepairable. Then today, I called Javaid Communications at Chandni Chowk. They asked to bring the handset to their shop and we will what can be done. I will be taking my set to them in a day or two.
GloriousChicken: The repair is risky how?

Depends.

2 Possibilities.

If the IC is degrading, You can heat it up and get some more life out of it.
If its dead, you have to replace it. - The means varies depending on the repairmen, most arent very professional in their way.

You can try what they're gonna do with it and trust your judgement.

This is i am trying to do getting some more life out of it so i can use it for some time because can't afford to buy a new phone right now so. Let's hope the IC is only degrading my bet is also that it's only degrading and not completely dead.

Theres a way to check it out.
Put your phone ontop of your Wifi Router.
Connect to it.

If it works, its degrading.

I tried it and it's not working.

By the way, I went to Javaid Communication today. They said that it will cost 3,500 Rs. to replace the WiFi IC. I asked about the risk and he said that there is no risk involved in it. But he asked me whether i have got it replaced before i said no obviously.

Ofcourse he'll say that.
Like I said repair will vary depending on the repairman skill.
Risk is either it doesnt work or dies out again sooner or later.

The phone is useless without wifi at home anyway so you should go for it, if you want.
Let us know how it goes afterwards.

hoping they dont do sloppy soldering jobs like most other electric stores out there. :(

If there is a genuine issue overall with a phone model then obviously it will die again but it should at least last for another 2 years because this issue arose after 2.5 years.

I will visit Saddar, Rawalpindi tomorrow too to see if there are any rates differences especially will visit Huawei Office Service Center to see what they say about it.

I handed over my phone to Javaid Communication at Chandni Chowk. They said it will be repaired for 3,000Rs. But after they got the phone they kept on delaying and then after 4 days said that our IC is bad and we will buy another and iy will be arrive in 2-3 weeks. I don't want to wait this long again.

Can someone tell me that where can i get it repaired in Rawalpindi apart from Huawei Customer Service because i have heard that they charge around 8,000Rs. and change whole motherboard.

Thanks.

Sani No point in spending so much on an old phone. You can call Huawei Service Centre and ask them the actual price, or go to any repair shop and ask if they have repaired a P8 Lite in the past. The WiFi issue was common and many people who were out of warranty needed to get their devices fixed so repair shops are familiar with this issue.

My p8 lite is showing WiFi networks but isn't connecting to any network. I have factory reseted still it is prevailing. Is it the same IC issue with my phone?

murtaza12: I know but i will give this phone to someone in the family as there is only one issue with it and i hope it will survive for at least for more year. Otherwise i wouldn't bother. I gave it to Rapid Repair at 6th Road, Rawalpindi today. They said that we will have to get a new IC for it and they promised me the repair by tomorrow so fingers crossed but ironically they're Javaid Communication's second shop where i went first and Javaid Communication asked these guys for a IC when they didn't have it by themselves. Scorpion: Yes, I am afraid it would be the issue with WiFi IC because this model has this common issue. Many users report this.

Just got my phone repaired. I did a factory reset and it's WiFi and Bluetooth are working perfectly fine.

I asked the repairman k phir tou nahi kharab hoga? He said that i have repaired 30-40 P8 Lites with the same issue and not a single customer complaint again. So i guess it's safe to say that it will survive an year or two at least.
