Is FAST really as good as people claim it is? Why should I pick it over IBA? (for CS) How's the standard of education, socialization and quality of life on campus? What kind of friends will I make?

FAST is the top as far as CS is concerned, you'll find mostly FAST winning in the various programming competitions held in Pakistan, but the biggest advantage of CS from FAST is the highly established network alumini in the industry. The standard of education is good (as in all unis some teachers are good, some are meh). Socialization depends upon your time management skills and how long it takes for you to grasp concepts. You'll find a tonne of quizzes, assignments and what not to contend with within a given semester. What kind of friends you will make is up to you, but there are not "maila" type of people here if that's your concern.

I had another question, I'm from Pre-Engineering so I haven't really studied CS in the past much (just 1 year in 9th grade). Do I need to study CS for the admission test?

no, they teach you from the very basics. No extra CS stuff for admission test

for BACHELORS in Computer Science Fast University is definitely the best university in Pakistan for now. Best faculty, Great exposure, decent market value.

I can't apply in DOW or Sindh Medical College because i heard that you need Domicile of Karachi district and must studied last 4 years in Karachi.What you suggest which university should i choose? LNMC or Ziauddin or any other?

A medical student can apply there. now only option i have, is szabist.

Obviously not, but you can always take inter CS/Mathematics exam to make youself eligible for Computer Science.

its a good institute and they offer BA/BS mass comm and have good faculty aswell regarding career pathline its all on your interest man so mostly you can pursue broadcast journalism , tv/ radio , news papers and advertising agencies especially ,Media houses
other than fc for media studies you should look for B.N.U aswell i guess they are good at all these creative arts degrees with the appropriate environment

i was looking for info on nust hostels and though i got what i needed to know i also came across blog entries and news pieces saying that nust is run by extremely conservative and close minded people? basically that they have curfew at 7.30pm and boys and girls cant sit next to or walk with each other. one person went to the extent of saying nust is being run by taliban. can anyone tell me if this is true? is it a very choking atmosphere there?
