The Dell UltraSharp on Iamextreme.

They are both about the same price shipped. I've never imported something as big as a monitor, what are my chances with customs? Some guy at Iamextreme forums got away with paying 5000 for the same. Ebay ships via a reputed tracked courier so I should eventually get it.

Also, I am using a GTX 470. Worth getting a 1440p display? Reading online reviews--it's gorgeous.

Thoughts? The cons about getting the Catleap is obviously customs, warranty and the possibility of dead pixels.

A GTX 470 definitely won't be enough for that resolution even running some not so demanding games. The vram alone will choke.

From what I read sometime ago the catleap uses rejected apple cinema display panels and the apple monitor costs like 3x more so for that price a couple of dead pixels shouldn't worry you. I'd say bite the bullet and order it if the shipping is handled carefully.

My vote is for Dell Ultrasharp. A really nice LCD and relatively easier on the eyes if you are to use it as a monitor and NOT a television setup.

Plus, it saves you customs, shipping and legal fees associated with buying something from abroad. Not worth taking the risk in my opinion.

It seems like the duty on these things is about 35% so I should be prepared to pay about 10,000 in a worst-case scenario. Then the chances of dead pixels and needing a new card(s) to play any newish game on the native resolution... hmmm?

If I were you I'd go for the Catleap, higher resolution, faster refresh rates, bigger screen size in the same price range :O, I don't see why not! even for 5-10k more!

I wont say what to get but will you get warranty claim on the catleap?
They do have a 1 yr warranty but I'm guessing I will have to pay for shipping. There is no guarantee for dead pixels. As for the Ultrasharp: does Pakistan have a Dell service centre? How will the warranty work?

I don't mind taking the risk--it's just going to cost me 2x if I have to upgrade my graphics card. More pixels is always good when not gaming, but almost no new game will run at native resolution.

Can't decide.

I just ordered a Crossover (same panel as the catleaps). Hopefully I will get it by the end of this week. Will keep this thread updated and try and do an unboxing. I'm thinking of keeping the GTX 470 since it's almost as fast as a 7850 when overclocked. Those games that don't play well--I will use 1:1 pixel mapping to play on 20" at 1080p. Good idea?

I think I'm going to be ripped off by customs! The seller told me he was going to ship by DHL, but he used EMS instead. I'm already trying to arrange 10000 customs charges. :(
I told him to send it as a gift worth $95. Will that help?
