I use "Avast" in combination with "Malwarebytes". It has a gaming mode to prevent pop ups between gaming
Free version of Malwarebytes doesn't have real time monitoring, you have to initiate scans manually, but it has a very good detection rate.

Windows 7 Microsoft security essential
Windows 10 Default windows Defender

I download a lot of torrents and my system is a part of local network having around 20 computers never had a virus problem since 2011 or 12 once i started using the windows own security.
It updates on its own, extreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemly light and only notifies when a virus is detected else its all silent wont even chuu ( No ads, no stupid notifications like update a new version is here, no stupid alert you havent updated your antivirus in a while and all that BS ) If i am ever worried i use malware-byte scan but i have never found a problem in years

i was also using security essential when i was using win 8
and i was using defender in windows 10 but recently i am getting BSOD by ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x16C3F0)
i tried Ram but booting Pc with each stick seems like no problem there

Upgraded windows to latest Build
Tried updating Nvidia drivers

Used Driver Booster 4 all drivers updated

i had installed malwarebytes it detected My torch browser infected and it popped couple of time some Ip and Notified me Website blocked
i tried to look for IP i found out hitting SVCHOST
from Ecatel LTD in the Netherlands

malwarebytes is in trial so it stopped the attack couple of times but that is trial version and i cannot afford to do the fresh installation of windows
