Good afternoon friends,

I am Muhammad Talha Butt from Sheikhupura, Pakistan and currently doing Matriculation from Beaconhouse School System (10th grade). My aptitude is in the field of Computer, specifically, software engineering and such type of things. I'm completely confused about what to do after the completion of Matriculation—some says do FSC and have Pre-Engineering, some people advised me to do ICS but I'm really confused what to do.

For example, if I become a Software Engineer and work for a software development company in Pakistan, the title and/or job will not be that worthy because piracy is very COMMON in Pakistan and I'll get around Rs. 15,000 per month which is unacceptable. Secondly, which field should I choose if I want to enter the world of computer? ICS? FSC? Please help!

Best Regards,
Muhammad Talha Butt

Talha, I wld advize u keep all the options open. ics = limit options for future. fsc = open options for future. computer courses r now very expanded and diversified. by fsc u can take advantages of this! dont limit urself to just one field and degree. remember when u r few yrx older and know the field, u can choose a good specialization for an excellent career. in meantime, search any avlb online courses of computers, software, etc. and see what you really like. u can read good info on sites and many more abt specific fields. good luck with ur decision.

as far as job and title those things r not upto us, its from God. Dont run after job. run after excellence. job will run after u.

Thank you for the information. I was thinking to do business in this field rather than doing job. Waiting for more replies!

First of all, its ok to be confused at this age, you dont have much exposure to choose what exactly you want to do.

If you do Pre-engineering (FSc/HSC), you can later on take admission in BBA or Engineering programs (min req. above 60% marks) in all universities of Pakistan, can even go into ACCA/CA (finance) field.

If you are into computer programming or web development, you can do some courses simultaneously with your FSc. This will give you an idea whether or not you want to pursue your career in computers and IT. If yes then you can enroll into any good computer sciences university of Pakistan, depending on your marks obtained.

Let me start by saying that your calculation of Job title, salary and related reasons is not correct. There is no upper limit to the amount of money a software engineer can earn. If you have the passion to excel in software engineering you can be a billionaire. Coming back to ground realities I would suggest that you keep your options open and go for a more challenging qualification which basically means go for pre-engineering. After that if you are really good in what you do and you work hard enough you may end up in a reputed university's computer science/engineering course and jobs offers would eventually come to you.

For now, focus on your studies as you have have you have your target already set (computer engineering). Also you must learn atleast the fundamentals of programming and other related stuff on your own. This would not only make you excel at your future university but would ensure that you perform above others at your future workplace (which inturn means higher pay checks at the end of the day).

Precious information. I currently run a small web-based company (www.saferservices.net) and there I offer multiple services—I think it'll help me in future in the fields of marketing, dealing and such. Anyway, I should focus on my Matriculation for now, thanks very much! :)

this new JRPG Metaphor: ReFantazio looks like my kind of stuff in terms of story/themes and world-building. Didn't know of its existence until today and I don't like/play turn-based games but I might make an exception here - as I did for Persona 5 which is a goat and looks/plays similar to this one.

this is govt's and not Microsoft's problem, of course. but it does make our market unfriendly for global digital businesses and consumers, which partly explains why Sony and Ninty stay away. a full-priced game would be significantly more expensive here digitally than its physical counterpart that comes to us from more cost-effective markets and channels (such as imports from UAE).

now that I think about it, maybe I should get a USD Payooner card for that purpose. but then, I don't buy or play much and the card has a fee. And you'd have to have USD balance in Payoneer of course, which prolly wouldn't be feasible if u somehow transfer PKR to it. It's an option for me cuz I get paid in USD there.

Finally saw Deadpool & Wolverine. Very overrated movie. I don't get what the commotion is all about. It was full of cringe humor & gay jokes. Also the whole multiverse thing is getting really lame now. It was fine the first time. Ok the second time. But now they've milked the jugs out of this concept. I know Marvel is desperate, but they need to come up with some original ideas if they want to stay in business. It's been a while since we've had a good superhero movie...
lol from all the clips I saw of deadpool on youtube shorts, I got the same idea about deadpool. Overacting and cringe.
