This question is directed to practically everyone!

for prospective college/university students, tell what you think college/university will be like. what do you expect from your collegiate experience?

for those in college/university, what are the pros? cons? is college/university just an educational institute for you or also a wide social network? what had you previously thought college/university was about and has that opinion come true?

And last but definitely not least:

For those who have graduated and officially left the academic world to join the work force: "what was the most valuable thing you had gained from college/university? what was the most difficult aspect? :)

PS: I will share my thoughts later!

I'm going to a university to study. But I want a chill environment. Not a place where THE MAN goes for my throat if I'm not wearing a tie or left my student ID card at home. I have a problem with authority.

The best experience I had in the university is that you are close to the teachers. You can ask them stuff related the work your given. Normally, the timings are between 9-5 so you are in the university most of the time. So its no biggy to go and ask about the stuff you didn't understand. You can keep your focus on studies during the university time while enjoy when you get home.

Yaar the 4 years I spent at uni were some of the best ever.
The time before uni: Forum hanger @ NGemu
The time after uni: Forum hanger @ PakGamers.

I donno, it was just plain coolness, being with friends, gaming zones, picnis, hollar bazi, parties, madness, sports and well.....studies to some extent (only during paper gaps).

The best part about uni life were friends man. Friends rock.

Im giving my 2nd year papers at the moment...will finish on 5th June.
Will do MBA (cuz dad said so) and if some one can give me some ideas about the uni's best in this business then it will be very much appreciated.
I really wanted to go in Computer engineering...but after a lot of searching i've found that its boom has been lost. ie. you can't make a career out of it and support your own family and that kind of stuff.

@USUF

Umm the usual high rated in Karachi are IBA and then CBM. Szabist pretty good too.

Paksitan main LUMS is on top. Rather not easy to get into.

Yea computer engineering has lost its touch now. My dad has been in teh IT sector for over 30 years mashAllah and thats what he said when I had to take the desicion. Else id be a programmer or soemthing too.

I read that there is actually a shortage of IT professionals in Pakistan, so IT field is pretty good choice right now.

Varsity life is something not everyone gets to experience.
> The very FIRST thing that one feels when entering as a freshman is that there are NO RULES anymore. Do whatever you want as long as it doesn't affect other. No more constraints of uniforms, attend the class if you like, leave the class whenever you wish, study at your own pace. So, the first thing would be the FREEDOM.

> Initially, the FOUR years look like long winded and difficult road to traverse but thats a lie. The four years are going to be the BEST one's in your life. The difference between these FOUR years and any OTHER years in your life is that these fours years are CAREFREE. No constraints of getting a job.

> Apart from education, the university will make a person a gentleman. No matter how rustic he/she was before getting admission, he/she will be a transformed person when he/she graduates. Person learns 50% of his lifestyle from university. University is derived from Universe (i.e. the big whole matter of worlds) in which a person gets to interact with everybody.

> The student/teacher bond can really help a person in everyway. Keep your friends close, teachers closer.

> Finally, university life is NOT NOT NOT NOT complete without living in dormitories/boarding/hostel. Hostel life is TWICE as fun as university life. These things are fun in disguise of boring.

Just maintain your dignity NOT by being pround & haughty. Go ALONG with class. NEVER EVER rebel against the class. Most importantly, the class should be unanimous in every situation. Dont do anything that militates your respect. Unfortunately, most students in Pakistan do some atrocious acts that mar the face of university environment and themselves.

I personally finished last year in June. I just wish, ONE MORE YEAR PLEASE. I just miss EVERYTHING so much and its never coming back. I can write PAGES & PAGES about the general experiences but the above points sum it up.

N'joy this gr8 gift of god

I would seriously suggest the software development side man. Developers are taken in so easily at really high pays.

Raptoria :salute: to u bro! U've expressed everything so well thats the words seems meaningless to describe the experience , the joy, the fun and the education in the uni life. i m goin thru one and soon it will end i m in the last sem of business studies. And all these years its almost 3n half years since i've been here. Having fun collective/group studies during exams with friends till late nite and smtimes never slept during exams prepare for the paper went with drizzle during papers and at last got the job well done. Gosh i will miss those idiots a lot but i m sure i will get back to complete my MS INSHALLAH. Hoping to go abroad but the uni time here just rocked made lots of memoirs. Fight, Taunt, misunderstanding, calmness of teachers, teamwork, having a chill all the time. Busted to go off rules which i think are meant smtimes to be broken.;) Dressing a white collar style during presentation makin u a good person towards the professional life. Literating you which u dont know Norms and other stuff. The college and university is about an experience which you wont find in later ages and an experience and later on becomes a pleasent memory to embrace and remember good times giving you comfort and relaxation at times when u feel down.

This was the same case with me......I still have plans for doing something in the IT feild after my MBA INSHALLAH...heck i even got the highest marks in my IT course in BBA

I am doing BBA 3rd semester.....i gotta tell university's life is the best and at some point the most toughest! damn you accounting!!

Formal dressing for presentations; are fun heh....i remember calling us papu baachas in the early days when we dressed formally

Your social cirlce increase by a massive scale yes massive!
But the thing is you have to keep a precise balance b/w tafreeh and studies or else you'll be like a fish out of water, as time never stops for no one!

Yahya was also there in my time and people used to Abuses will lead to ban about him, but for some reason I never came across him. I guess he was afraid of our group. Khalid was a real pain in the neck. Everytime something needed to be done in the office I had to deal with this guy.

My math teacher was also Sir Javed, but I'm 100% sure he won't remember me. The other teachers you named, I'm not aware of since I was in science.

What was the PE teachers name? He was such a jolly guy, I wish I could remember his name. Also, how is the PAF soccer team doing in inter-school tournaments?
