WDL is adding RT reflections to a game which is already targeting 30 fps without RT.
MM and WD Legion are both cross gen games, Ubisoft not implementing a 60 FPS mode for the next gen version without RT doesn't make it a 'far mode demanding' game'. Nor did Alex say that anywhere :ROFLMAO:

This is purely a Ubisoft thing. Insomniac have put in the extra effort, Ubisoft have not.

AC Valhalla is also a cross-gen game which is running at 60 FPS on the next gen machine. But there they completely eliminated RT, even from the PC version. That's also Ubisoft.

Already targeting 30fps without RT? Is there a mode on the console versions that runs with RT disabled? Haven't heard about it.
No, WD Legion only has the one 30/RT mode. Nothing else. Ubisoft lazied out.

Wow, lazy dev rhetoric. nice lol. Almost like Legions and Valhalla are possibly developed by two different Ubisoft studios.

Watch Dogs has always been a very demanding game to achieve 60fps at maximum detail levels. Current gen consoles are already struggling to maintain a stable 30fps. Ubisoft Toronto probably wanted to push the detail level higher on PS5/Series X compared to current gen and the lack of a 60fps mode means the CPU/GPU probably aren't "pulling above their weight" enough in delivering a stable frame rate. In that case, limiting to 30fps and increasing detail level beyond current gen standard with added ray tracing makes sense.

We'll never know because there isn't a choice there to compare at all.

WD being more resource-hogging is also kind of a well known meme, pasha can attest to that 🤷‍♂️

I, and probably a lot of other users, would have preferred if the game presented a RT/30 or non-RT/60~ choice. In fact, I think that would be the best course of action going forward for most/all games which have some kind of RT in them.

Yup. From his own analysis:

A core i5-8400 with 6 threads and an RTX 2060 Super can run the game at 1440p/45-50fps on Ultra settings. There's literally no reason to believe the PS5 and Series X couldn't do 60fps at a 1440p or above with RT off.

There isn't any indication that the PS5/Series X can push a stable 60fps in Legion even with RT off. Unless the detail levels are kept at last gen levels or lower. Whether its a resource hog or a meme is another debate.

The in-game benchmark doesn't have any gameplay scenario where you roam around in the open world, either on foot or a vehicle. Its okay for relative performance between hardware but not a good indicator for the game's general performance.

Both the PS5 and Series X have enough performance headroom over an 8 core/8 thread i5-8400 CPU and a 7.2 TF GPU (despite not being the same metric as AMD TF) to be able to run the game better at 1440p+ with RT off. There is no clearer indication than that.

Oh wait, this game has a subway lol.

Well duh, there's no way to disable RT reflections on the console versions. How can other settings be higher.

Poor decision by Ubisoft to not include a non-RT mode that runs at 60fps.

CPU requirements for "a flat 60 might as well be olympian", but the not-so-olympian Ryzen 3700x was doing it in his own tests anyway :ROFLMAO:

Despite a garbage PC port, the rtx 2060 is outperforming the next gen consoles. I can see why AMD wasn't confident with showing ray tracing performance of rdna2

Folks on ps5 subbreddit was saying how it will rival rtx 2080

Rtx 3060 is just around the corner...

WD Legion is a cursed game, sometimes its used to highlight how un-optimized Ubisoft games are.

Sometimes it's used to show how consoles wouldn't be able to run it at 60 FPS.

Sometimes we all forget this game runs at 43~ FPS on the most expensive commercially available GPU in the market right now at 4K with medium RT preset.

WD Legion = cursed software.

What a take lol. The PS4 Pro, Jaguar CPU and all, is running the game at 30fps. Turns out, the game isn't CPU intensive at all, and any Ultra setting that does happen to stress the CPU can be dialed down to hit a stable 60fps.

Also, a Ryzen 3700X, which is roughly equivalent to the current-gen console CPUs, runs the game at an average frame rate of 58fps on Ultra @ 1080p with an RTX 2060 S (a weaker GPU than the one in either console, as far as rasterization is concerned). Press F indeed lol.
