UPS should be videshi(imported)
dont consider on desi ups.. coz battery killer. bang up all your wet/dry battery because of unpredictable charging method..

also homeage is good brand,, 3kva is good, sinewave, AVR built-in, good quality. i used, 2 years, and no issue at all with dry batteries..

also using imported. germany based, Belking 3kva with 3 dry batteries. .

in simple word.. sasta roye bar bar. mahenga roye ek baar :yay:

Hello and Assalam-o-Alaikum.

I'm on the lookout for a used/refurbished UPS. Since it'll serve a 780 SLI setup, I reckon the peak load could be around 750w. In order to get at least a minute or two of backup to be allowed a graceful shutdown on that load, a 1250VA (with 0.6 power factor is exactly what I need). But there's a little problem here.

Without digging into the crude details, I'd just say that every seller I've met (including and especially on OLX) wants to have a big chunk of my money without offering a legit product. This APC Smart-UPS 1250va model I'm in the middle of negotiations for, supposedly was being manufactured back in 1993/94 but the seller wants 15K for it + 3K for the batteries. On top of it, for 2K he's offering 6 months' warranty on battery and a year on UPS as a whole. So my friends,

- Is this a legit deal?
- Should a 22 year old UPS cost me 18000 rupees?
- Is APC's resale this good, that even if I want to sell it after 4 or 5 years it could give me at least 10K w/ or w/out batteries? Is it THAT good?

Thanks very much in advance to all those who're willing to help.

15k is way too much and from 3k for batteries I am assuming these will be smaller (dry) batteries. You can get a Homage 2kVA to run your whole house in 16k.

And NO, if it is really 22 years old, it should NEVER cost this much. I am not even sure if a 90's UPS uses digital electronics or is based on old analog circuits.

Thank you very much for your timely advise.

Yes. Small ones. Is Homage (higher-end model of course) really able to carry ~600w for a minute or two?

I am not even sure if a 90's UPS uses digital electronics or is based on old analog circuits.
And thank you very much once again for directing my attention towards this very important point which I was missing from my research and considerations completely.

Now moving forward, can you kindly look at these and share your invaluable insights? The second one is 115v yes. But I'm gonna check with them today for a 208/230/240 V model.

UPS Backup | Power Supply | Emergency Power Systems ? CyberPower Systems, Inc.
APC Power-Saving Back-UPS Pro 1000, 115V Price in Pakistan Rs. 25,000 Read Reviews & View Specification

Also, have you had any dealing with Shoprex in the past? I mean heard anyone's experience about them or something?

Inverter rating and backup timings are two different things. Backup timing depends upon the size of battery attached to your UPS. In APC case, it only offers 10 min backup because of small batteries. Replace them with car batteries and your PC will run for an hour but APC can't charge car batteries so don't try this :)

First you have to decide if you want an Inverter + Batteries solution (like Homage) or you want all-in-one solution like the products you just mentioned (packed batteries) specifically for your PC. BTW I don't have experience of any of the products you mentioned above.

I never dealt with Shoprex.

I've brought this 1000va CyberPower one. Being an American brand, it seems to be able to strike a good balance between quality and cost-effectiveness.

Homage apparently is used more as a home inverter than a PC UPS. I've seen/heard mixed reviews about it but I went for peace of mind simply. What I got IS actually a PC UPS in nature.

Thanks once again for stopping by to help and sharing your thoughts.

P.S.: I wasn't aware that Shoprex didn't sell. They only serve as an online (pricing) information portal.

Hello guys,
I am currently using my XBOX 360, which i got from the US so its power supply is of 110V. I need to find myself a good stabilizer, any ideas where can i get it from in Karachi before eid? Also what watts would be preferable for a gaming console.

Thanks.

I have 3KVA locally made UPS which works pretty well. Never had any problem with it.

Anyway. I have 2X 205AH Phoenix Batteries which I bought 28 Months ago (2 Years 4 Months) and tested these through 8-10 hours of backup in extreme cases. Now they are dying and backup time has reduced to <1 hour.

I don't think dry batteries are worth it, since they need intelligent charging and deep cycle batteries are expensive as hell.

So which one is better, AGS or Phoenix. I have very good experience with Phoenix but I think AGS is equally good. But which one has better quality cell plates ?

I apologize for such a late reply. Haven't seen this thread for more than a month.

Cyberpower is good. Like I mentioned in my previous post, it's an american brand so it's expected to be better than Chinese shits, and it actually is. It's

- a simulated sine-wave model but my Active PFC PSU never had any issues during black/brown-outs
- cheap and efficient
- has a good configuration/monitoring application that works through USB port (haven't tried RS-232 port yet)
- has unattended shutdown support

So overall it's been a very good experience. The only thing I'd like people to be aware of is the PSU's capacity. Although max/rated PSU capacity is irrelevant when sizing the UPS needs, but it performs best with up to 500W PSU @ peak load and above that may result in unexpected behavior. So I would recommend this particular 1000VA model to anyone who's got <= 500W PSU.

I've got a 1000W PSU so I gotta look for other options; considering APC.
