University help needed (again)

Alright only people with brains reply. I got into FAST (BE Telecom) and AIR (BE Mechatronics). I have also been short listed for an interview for PIEAS (BS CIS). The admission tests for NUST, UET and Bahria are yet to take place. I can get into Bahria and UET but i'm not too hopeful about NUST.

So people where should I head to? Any suggestions and advice like the last time would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'll give you TWO perspectives i.e. TECHNICAL & HONEST

TECHNICALLY, if you are lucky enough to get admission in NUST. Just go for it. It is technically # 1. Now, if you really really love CIS, PIEAS is no slouch, it's one of the best out there. In the end if you can get into FAST & UET, don't hesitate.

HONESTLY, it does NOT depend where you study from actually when you enter the pro field. Nobody usually prefers graduates of one university over another especially internationally. So it's all upto you as how much knowledge you get can out of the 4 years. If you know the job, they'll hire you without even looking into your GPA and transcripts. If you can convice 'em that you can do it and you will, they'll hire you. Still, there are some firms in Pakistan ONLY that prefer graduates of one university over crap university. Just try to get into a university with Ph.D professors (which is a standard for a reputed one, even though they teach like crap.

In the end, in your current state, I'd have gone for FAST in BE Telecom Engineering. I too graduated in the parent field of Telecom, i.e. Electrical with Communications specialization. FAST is a really nice way to go but be warned that they are NOT reputed for Telecom. NUST & UETs are specialists in Engineering. PIEAS is a specialist in MASTERS degrees. So, it all depends on your personal choice. IMO Bahria, Air, Ripha these varsities are NEW. If you CANT get admission in any older ones, then think about these new ones. Old is pure gold brothA! Hope that helps.

After that, be prepared for unforeseen consequences (lolz). i.e. professional life or MS (including GRE nightmare for US). Even if those Tehrik-e-Taaliban of Pakistan (translates to Pure sons of Abuses will lead to banes) are trying their best to piss of US and ruining our future.

Ok sorry to derail a little bit. Farewell & goodluck in starting your journey. When you get admission, let me know, I'll come personally for ragging lolz.

Im doing Telecom from FAST and its damn difficult man. And lets put this aside, telecom is a good field with bright future but not in Pakistan. My seniors graduated and many of them hv yet to find a job. If u have safaarish then ull get anywhere. N thats wats happening now, think wat wud happen in 4 years. Every body is doing telecom now. Its gonna be same as CS ie everybody got admission in it when it came couple of years ago and now u can see whats happening. In terms of quality, my cousin is in NUST (infact he just graduated) and its not that much different from FAST. Which campus r u in?

hmmm u are asking where should you head to .so go there where ur head fits... lolz.
my brother..... i was in the same scenarions after passing inter.... sincerely .... it doesnt matter a lot ... that from where are u ? (uni ) . the important thing is what are u ...so dont maze ur self ..... choose any of good uni .......and then it will only you... its not university its the student who get the fame to uni ....!! isnt it....?

actually what i am sayin is truely based on real experience...... of my frnds and me ...
when i was working in soft ware house in khi .... the TOP programmers of our company where moslty BCOM and they just have a minor dimploma in programming...... and they are leading the programming depart now......!!


so NUT SHELL is that try to equip with ur self not uni ...... and always remmember
that its you only who do !! .......
not the uni......!! so my dear choose any one......!! but be sincere with your decision .....!!

and what we call a decision is when we are capable enough to cope with the negations of that decision ........!! hope ull get it....!!

ummm raptor i beg to differ with what you've said...true if you wanna work abroad they dont much care about which university you are from supposing you have done your graduation from a pakistani school.....but back here people do actually see the name of the university...i study in eme college and trust me conscript it aint that difficult to get in....im doing my mechanical engineering....see the key is that if you are giving the entry test then you have to go through the fsc books thoroughly because the questions are usually from there...but see the easier way to get in is by giving your SAT and then applying through that because they have a number of seats for SAT applicants and not a whole lotta people apply through their SAT scores....so you'll have a better shot of gettin in like that....but do know this once you get in its gonna be HEEELLLLL on earth man....i mean not only the way they overburden you but also with the army rules and regulations be prepared for that...need any more help PM me

Just step into the field and you'll know. zebualvi & bababango have already summarized it. If you call studying in EME a HELL, what will you call the real world? The BIGGEST HELL..

@Conscript....I would never recommend PIEAS....whoever tells you otherwise is ignorant of its shorcomings....the faculty is well-educated and all, and they have a history of good research work etc. with PRINSTECH also there, but they lack the basic skill i.e. teaching though effective communication....plus, life on campus is entirely dull and horrible....I still remember, way back in my good old university days, a friend of mine went there for his Bachelors degree....he, literally, left the place within the duration of the first semester....to this date, the place is an entire mess....I'm sure you aren't going to be willing to take up that kind of suffering....people have this terrible misconception that PIEAS is 'OMG WOW!!!!' material, whereas it's the exact opposite....it's also a relatively new university....if I'm not wrong, they started off in the year 2000....PRINSTECH, on the other hand, is pretty old....but that's for an entirely different breed of sciences

NUST and FAST are the way to go for the degree that you're pursuing....UET is a renowned institute, but only for the main engineering courses such as Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Civil etc....for CS and Telecom, stick to NUST or FAST....as for Bahria, I'd recommend that if you were going for BBA, as it's the best place in Islamabad/Pindi as far as management sciences are concerned

My big bro studies in FAST and my sis studies in NUST and hmmm NUST will be shifting to their new building from the next semester which is near FAST and it is awesome . It covers a whole damn sector! About studies I dont know both of them are good !

i got admission in FAST and NUST in 2007 but longed for UET and left both universities for UET. but i abrogated by the ECAT and got 129/400. getting to nowhere. i got admission in PU Bsc.(hons) Industrial. then i tried whole heartedly for LUMS and finally got in LUMS.
you don't waste ur chance go for FAST, telecom. its great and well recognized university.
