well i love traveling and already have been to many places i thought pg might need a thread like this where people can discuss what places they have been too and what type of culture and enviroment they have seen and people can suggest other people in this thread where they might like to travel next time they feel like going somewhere in the world

well here goes my experinces, well last year i went to africa and if you like to get lost and find your way back to civilization then africa is your place people over there are relly backwards no computers or anything the internet just sucks but sometime thats good you have been using internet and computers all year might just want to leave all that behind and enjoy the old fashion way. African culture is really nice alot different then you imagine they are really nice people but if you toe with them then i must say you have to pay for what you have did :D although the best part of africa is grabbing a safari van and getting lost in the middle of no where all you have is a binoculous (sorry for the spelling) some food and water and god the nature is sooo amazing like its heaven waterfall wild animals free running around .the experinces of spending nights in the jungle is extraordinary you dont have a tv you dont have electricity and you even have to go to toilet in the middle of the jungle but the stars you get to see and the voices of birds and owls just makes up for all of it but at the and it all has to end but if i get the chances again i will like to do that all again :)

Awesome to hear you discovering the world.
But...(yes there's a 'but'), why not discover Paksitan first dude! I'm blessed to be from the beautiful Gilgit-Baltistan and its just amazing the scenery god has gifted us with. Lakes, snow-capped mountains as far as the eye can see, lush trees and just pure awesomeness of nature. I go there every summer and ive been going since the past 10-12 years and it makes my jaw drop every single time.
So yea, try checking out the great north of Pakistan. And if you ever find yourself in Hunza, ask for a Baig, they'll probably point you towards my house :D

Oh the northern areas of pakistan is way more beautifull then the lakes in america pakistan is blessed with alot of tourist point but because of the fact that after 9/11 pakistan got blamed for being a terriorst country many people are scared to visit although if they come ones they might never go back, same is my case i am only 17 and not allowed to travel any where in pakistan sadly :(

For Pakistan I've been to
Lahore, great people and awesome food, wagah border and the awesome shahi fort and not to forget Minar e Pakistan.

Karachi, awesome malls and nightlife and especially Dreamworld, Arena and Area 51.

Peshawar, love the local ambiance and the namkeen tikka and the bazaars.

Skardu, shangrila is just heaven, the lakes upper and lower kachura just epic.

Naran, Kaghan Saif ul maluk is the most beautiful lake ever!

and swat, serena is gorgeous and the snowfall at the chair lift in malam jabba was bloody magnificent.

Rest of the worl.
Dubai, vist almost every year, only one bad thing is the heat, other than that awesome hotels, nightlife, desert safari, cruises, wild wadi. atlantis and the super awesome malls, and ski dubai, a lot of other stuff too can't actually remember all of em. not to forget the golf clubs :D

Singapore, the one thing I loved the most was asian chicks, dont get me wrong see for urself :p the marina bay sands, singapore flier, sentosa, wild wild wet, universal studios was super amazing and watching the premier of Harry potter 7 part 2 was unforgettable. and their McDonald's burger Chilli chicken Mcgrill, best burger I have ever had.

Saudi Arabia, it is the actual heaven on earth, every muslim's dream, performed umra twice masha Allah.

Malaysia, the petronas towers, lankawi island, tuman island, the genting highlands' water park and asia's longest chair lift, afamoosa resort => like dreamworld but much much better, and Mallaca, its their Lahore basically.

Going to umra again this feb and then to the UK in the summers Insha Allah.

@Wajih

Not exactly a veteran but i do go there every year and i know the place like the back of my hand.
First off, GPS = A BIG NO NO. great adventure and discovery are done by getting LOST :D seriously though, don't use GPS. Won't do you much good.
Here's what i think you should do if you wanna really enjoy the landscape.

1. Instead of taking the 'Kohistan' route, i suggest taking the Naran-Kaghan route. It cuts down the travelling time by a good 4-5 hours and the road/scenery is x10 better imo.
2. Stop for food at 'Chilas'. it will be the best decision you ever made, trust me.
3. A stay at any one of the PTDC's along the way will make the trip north that much more enjoyable. (fatigue WILL set in during the 18-24 hour drive from Islamabad to Gilgit)
4. Prepare for long delays on the KKH and crappy road. (The chinese aren't working as efficiently as they used to.)

I'm sure this trip will be one of the better memories of your life. :)

I have explored Pakistan and visited foreign countries too

Went to Germany, Netherland, Oman and SaudiArabia as a Kid ( Courtesy of my Father):looking:

Have visited Nearly all of the Northern area ( Gilgit, Sakurdu, Naran, Kaghan, Hunza and Swat) . Amazingly beautiful places unlike any other place i have visited abroad.

Was posted in Neelum valley in Kashmir for two years and had a chance to explore the Neelum valley on foot ( once in a life time experience)

Have visited Dhaka, Bangladesh ( Great place , very similar to Karachi with very friendly and sweet people) in 2008

Went to Istanbul and Kayseri, Turkey and had a blast of a time ( Dolmabachee palace, Bosphorous cruise, Topkapi Museum, Military Museum and much more) 2009

Just came back from the USA after completion of my scholarship. Alhamdoillah had an absolutely great time visiting NYC, NJ, WV, PA, TX

And regarding Pakistan being a tourist friendly place i am very sad to share my experiences that this is NOT the case. Other countries have a very vibrant tourism industry earning billions of dollars in revenue and projecting a positive image of the country. This is NOT the case with Pakistan, which is seriously suffering from a bad global image, very few international tourists and very poor tourist services for the locals ( This is in addition to the HONEST and GHAREEB Pakistanis ready to rip off their fellow Pakistani tourists when they try to visit these places)

Great Plan. Good luck. I have travelled on road from Peshawer to Interior Sindh.

Few suggestions from my side.

When Travelling in Sindh and Southern Punjab, DO NOT travel after Dark.

If possible travel as group with atleast two Vehicles ( If possbile)

If you are starting from Karachi, Just Follow the National Highway N5 and you will reach Islamabad without any problem InshaAllah. DON"T go for stupid shortcuts or you will regret

Never hesitate in stopping the car and asking for directions if you feel lost

Ensure the car / Vehicle is in good working condition before you hit the road.

Take turns in driving the car/vehicle and DO follow the rules ( Seat belt, speed limit, remaining in the lane etc). Only STUPIDS and RETARDS think that not following road rules in cool and unfortunately they are in abundance in Pakistan.

Have a good camera with spare batteries and DO NOT forget to take as many pics as you can. You don't get these chances very often

Here is a very good resources that i would recommend

http://wikitravel.org/en/Pakistan

I am in Panoaqil Cantt, nowadays ( Near Sukkur). Let me know if you need any additional help while passing by.

Good luck.
