Works for flashfiber devices such as HG8145V5, you can setup bridge mode as well, password is ptcl in wan settings, you'll see username anyway.

Good day!
you can add PTCL ONT in bridge mode, wow! That's nice. Thanks for letting us know.

There is a Bridge Connection in WAN settings on my ONT as well (ZTE F660). But I lack in networking skills so I would like some expert here to guide whether it is actually possible to use it along with IPTV and Landline.

UPDATE: So I created a WAN connection in bridge mode and connected TP LINK router (ZTE's LAN4 port to TP Link's WAN Port) and inserted PPPoE username and password but it wasn't connecting. Upon contacting 1218, the guy claimed 'sir bridge mode mein nahi chale ga sirf PPPoE mode mein hi chale ga aapka router'.
I was wondering if any one with Nokia or Huawei ONTs had any luck with it? If the router provides the option to do it then it is supposed to work unless PTCL is blocking it from their end somehow.

UPDATE 2: Good news, I managed to make it work. Credits to @topman11111 for pointing this feature out in PTCL's ONT though. Here are the steps I followed:

1. Login to your PTCL Router which is a ZTE F660 in my case. You can see the default username and password at the back of the router.
2. Navigate to Network > WAN > WAN Connection.
3. In the Connection Name dropdown, there should be an entry called 'omci_ipv4_pppoe_1', click that and you will see all of its details below configured by PTCL.
4. Now check you VLAN ID and note it somewhere.
5. In Connection Name dropdown, click Create WAN Connection. After that, input any Connection Name you want, now here is the IMPORTANT STEP, check the VLAN ID box and enter the ID you noted in STEP 4. Leave the 802.1p to default. Now for the Connection type, select BRIDGE CONNECTION. Click Create to save it.
6. Under the same Network tab, go to LAN > DHCP Port Binding. In this tab, change the LAN 4 to WAN. Click Submit. This is the port you will connect your other router to, so we have disabled DHCP for this port.
7. Go to DHCP Binding tab in WAN. Select the connection you created earlier in Step 5 and check the LAN4 option. I am not sure if it makes any difference but I did it anyways.
8. Go back to WAN Connection tab and select the 'omci_ipv4_pppoe_1' connection. Now you have to disable this connection by unchecking Enable VLAN option. After you save it, you will loose internet access as the router is in bridge mode now.
IMPORTANT: Note down the the Username mentioned here. Password should be 'ptcl' by default without the quotes.
9. Connect your other router like this:

PTCL Router LAN 4 -> Other router WAN Port

10. Turn the other router on, set it to router mode if it isn't by default. Now go to it's WAN settings and from their you have to select Connection type as PPPoE. Insert the username and password you noted earlier in Step 8 and click Connect.

Leave the IPTV and the Landline connected to your PTCL router and connect any other devices you want with your new router.

YOU HAVE TO REPEAT STEP 8 EVERYTIME YOUR PTCL ROUTER IS RESTARTED as the router resets to default PTCL's config. Mine is connected to the UPS so it almost never turns off.

THATS IT! Enjoy your OpenWRT Routers and all that cool stuff now.

NOTE AND DISCLAIMER: If anything goes wrong and you can't get back the internet, just reboot the PTCL router, it should be back to its default config. I won't be responsible for any issues regarding your internet.

Yup both IPTV and Landline are working as they are connected to the PTCL router and are in a separate VLAN. I only bridged the VLAN for the internet which was 10.

Accord to their official forum, it is compatible but its not recommended due to low flash storage and RAM. I mainly use OpenWRT for SQM but there are many other packages for it that you can explore around on their forums.

Has anyone else had their broadband prices increased from the promo 2745 to 3199 for 30mbps packages? they did that to me and i got a response from them that the old package is no more although they changed the price of the package themselves and told me that i changed the package! what BS is this?
first they told me the new price would be 2835 and after few hours got a call telling me that price would be 3199. has anyone else had to deal with this?

That is quite normal in Pakistan...
50Mbps in Indian = 500rs
50Mbps in Pakistan = 7300rs (Also not unlimited, has 2TB limit) ^.^
And rulers talk about "We encourage "Free Lancers", All they encourage is corruption..."

Because demand and supply.

India has way more internet linkages than Pakistan (so there's a lot of supply).
India has many more players than Pakistan (so there's more competition).
India has a much bigger chunk of the population that's online - or at least believes in some form of higher internet usage than in Pakistan (so there's an incentive to create that infrastructure to connect more people so more can enjoy).

Our internet consumption is still very low - the maasi in the house have smart phones but they use it for free voice calls or Facebooking.

So - it's a reinforcement type of thing.

I know when PTCL launched their DSL service, they were undercutting the other players, but given the major deterioration in the exchange rate, there would be a hit someplace. You know that companies exist to make profits, not give things away at a loss.

But yes, other countries have faster/cheaper internet access with respect to income levels. Also, I think we don't have any more disruptive players in Pakistan (unlike Reliance/Jio) so... yeah. The motive is different. The business models are different. The target population and its usage patterns are different. The internet infrastructure is way more limited. And India also filters their internet as well - but then, we are 1/5 their population, their government took successive steps to invite foreign companies to set up shop, and they marketed themselves as the next big market.

We're stuck doing bhangra on cricket matches and not encouraging financial inclusion, ease of business, stopping payments and what-not (not saying Indians don't - but the business spectrum is far wider in India than it is in Pakistan for a variety of reasons).

Because demand and supply.
PTCL can sell internet for cheaper i doubt it cost them as much as they sell.
PTCL profit margin i dont know how it is but seems way too much.
its 2022 and we are paying insane premium price for 50Mbps...
i got ptcl ADSL in 2007 or 2005 not 100% sure but since that after 2017 they gave me VDSL2 after complaining for 5 years that after peak time i get 10Kb/sec and huge packet losses... So it took them 10 years to provide me VDSL2...
And they never admitted that speed issue is because of overloaded system... now its 2023 after 10 days and i am still on VDSL2 so thats 6 years being still on VDSL2 and no sign of Fiber.. If we will keep justifying with bussiness point of view Mafia will always win... What we need is to talk simple logic... dont tell me inflation+dollar price+ blah + blah effects the price... Tell me 1+1=2... They probably buy 50Mbps for 1-2k rupees and sell for 7300rs... That was my whole point... These heartless business cant even lower their insane profit margins to give some feeling of love n care... This system of Tyranny sucks and should be amended... Remember Sinking ships cant be saved if we keep blaming bussiness models with logic which a common man cannot understand... Earn profit but not way too much..
And PTA is doing nothing to make internet affordable... GG
I spent 2007/5 to 2017 complaining about disconnections and low speed on peak hour..
Then After i got VDSL2 from a very far exchange i face both disconnection and slow speed at peakhours...
These issues got resolved when they finally decided to install another exchange my area... We loyal customers went through hell because of their unreliable services and PTA did nothing.... There is no price control on anything.. 10 ki cheez 10lakh ki bhi baich do toh khair ha koi baat nahi...jese kharednay walay kay haram kay pasay ha......
Loot ka bazar ha bs!

Question: why would/should they?

If you want to blame anyone, blame the regulator that thinks 4Mbps speeds is considered as broadband (https://www.dawn.com/news/1712301). if the minimum is raised more, only then will people get more.

But again, when you're running a company, would you rather focus on how much money you can make in the long run (revenue - initial investment), or would you focus on what an individual desires?

I would focus on Profit + bringing as much better speed as possible... 4mbps...wow... it should be atleast 25mbps minimum... that is why i mentioned PTA as well doing nothing..But these companies are here only for profit.. They dont care if people need more speed or not its 2022... a simple website is heavy to load... They probably know this...and milking money till...PTA tells them to increase speed

(The regulations termed as “Fixed Broadband Quality of Service (QoS) Regulations, 2022”,
have replaced the existing “Broadband Quality of Service Regulations, 2014”.

Under the new regulations the minimum fixed broadband internet speeds for download data throughput has to be 4 megabit per second (Mbps) up from the 256 kilobit per second (kbps) in the previous regulations.)

Wow (Claps) before 2022 it was 256Kbps...Amazing 2014 till 2022 was 256Kbps.... Idk why are we still in stone age.......so a proper guess would be that after another 8 years they will increase QOS regulation-2022 to QOS regulation-2028 and are gonna increase minimum speed to 8mbps.................. i guess only way to afford which whole planet is affording is to earn enough to survive easily. This country is definitely never gonna change!

Good day!
This worked for my PTCL ONT but any chance you also know the root / admin password for Transworld's EG8145X6 ONT as well?

Firmware is similar to the PTCL ONT but it seems like they're using a different scheme for the root account password.

Sorry for noobish question but would anyone tell me what is difference between using orginal ptcl modem and other avialable in market costly or cheap? Speed or wifi strength or something else!

Any advantage?

DSL, I suppose? No advantage - but if PTCL wants to troubleshoot, they may ask you to plug back the original modem in first.

Also, your own modem = you can control whatever you want as the settings.

Different chipsets have different results for ADSL and VDSL2... I have tried 3 different modem and one with broadcom chipset gave me best SNR and Best Attainable Rates.. Also internet surfing is faster with broadcom modem. Line is more stable now and losses are almost zero now.
Back when i had ADSL.. i tried many modems and one with broadcom chipset were way more stable..
So if you have line parameter issues like (Losses) (Low SNR) (Low attainable Rate) (Disconnections) Then yes try a different modem.
But if you want to enhance wifi speed and quality then that is a different topic. So what really is you want to improve?
