Just asking why you'd want to do this.

Here's a possible workaround: can you add a router to your ONT, make the ONT assign DHCP (the router won't), but plug in the DNS settings from within the router?

Depends on the actual router, but I think most standard routers should allow some part of this.

Salam guys,sppedd.jpg
I have 6mb ptcl bb adsl connection paying 2400rs/m, however facing disconnections for a minute or so a few times in a day, ptcl guys have offered to shift me to vdsl to resolve the issue. Should i go for it, they are saying that they will lay the extra line etc and it will resolve disconnection issues.
Your early reply would be helpful.

Yes, upgrade to VDSL. Thats the only solution

Are my stats good? and will it cost me more to shift to vdsl and additional charges?
VDSL stats work slightly differently and will give your line much higher capacity in most cases.

As for the cost - the exchange staff/PTCL helpline will tell you (better ask PTCL's helpline since I've lost faith in our exchange, but not all exchanges are alike).

Its free to convert ADSL To VDSL but lineman may charge you some for stretching new dual pair wire, number one benefit of VDSL along with low disconnection is increase in upload speed and simultaneous upload and download without ping hiccups.
What matter in VDSL is your distance from pole and pole distance from MSAG what kind of stats you receive will only be revealed when you get it converted up and running.

I have been using 4kOTT IPTV service for quite some time now on my Chromecast with Google TV on a 20 Mbps VDSL connection.

For 2 weeks now, I am facing a weird problem. Although my Ookla' Speed test shows the full speed available; however, my IPTV service on TiviMate buffers like hell during 2 pm - 5 pm and 8 pm - 12 pm.

I even tried changing the software to IPTV Smarter PRO, reset my device multiple times, and even my router as well. But when I changed the internet connection from VDSL to Mobile Phone's Internet, it starts to work "perfectly" and "smoothly", without any buffer.

DSL support guy and checked with the streaming (IPTV is legal in my country), and even he didn't have a clue as to why is it happening on the DSL connection and NOT when I stream through the mobile internet. He just told me that it might be a load balancing issue at their end and went away to raise this query to the higher technicians.

  1. Am I being throttled? or is that actually a load issue?
  2. Are there any other ways I can address and explain it to the ISP representatives?
  3. Would VPN help me with that? or some dns or proxy will help me with that?
p.s. I checked YouTube + The trailers on prime video app ( I don't have subscription) are working fine

VPN might help. Lots of streaming services (excluding ones that have local CDNs) have started acting up because of PTA's new firewall that filters / inspects a lot of UDP traffic. Try with a VPN, if the issue goes away then it's most likely that.

I think I have not described my problem clearly.

1) This IPTV buffering issue is only during 1-5pm and 8-11 pm. Rest of the time, everything working fine.

2) I have tried playing the same service via Zong 4g mobile internet and I didn't have ANY problems whatsoever.

So, does PTA firewall is only implemented on PeeTCL and only during specific times? or is that a load management issue?

Can you recommend any specific settings that I should check out on my router?

If it was a congestion issue in your area, then you'd face slow speeds on every service, not just IPTV.

The firewall issue affects all ISPs, but not at the same time. There's nothing to check on your router, and nothing over there will give you any clues as to why this is happening.

Can you access the service on your PC as well, or only on the Chromecast?

I'll answer, since I'm using IPTV and my provider, at times, buffers a lot.

You mentioned it doesn't happen on Zong - that's because unlike PTCL and Transworld, the other ISPs take bandwidth from both providers and router different IPs via different routes. It's possible PTCL's route is congested but not Transworld's (and vice versa).

Your only solution is to use a VPN. Pick a random country and keep trying other countries since not all countries/routes work well - sometimes, the route between you and the VPN server may be fine but the route from the VPN server to the web server may be congested, or vice versa.

I've gone through this with another IPTV provider, and VPN was literally the only way out (and not VPNs are equal).

I tried on Android phone via (IPTV Smarters PRO) and PC via (VLC Player)

Edit: the duration of buffering has decreased immensely and now buffer is only between 3- 5pm and EXACTLY between 10:00 pm and 11:00 pm.

It seems like someone switches off IPTV when the clock hits 10 pm
