username: adminDoes anyone know the master password for PTCL's ONT?
The newer ones (Huawei ones, with the blue login screen/interface) don't accept telecomadmin / admintelecom.
Great - just as I go to Canada... lol.username: admin
password: last 8 digits of mac address written on the back of device (Upper Case only) (ignore anything written after -)
Works for flashfiber devices such as HG8145V5, you can setup bridge mode as well, password is ptcl in wan settings, you'll see username anyway.
Good day!
Haha safe travels mate. Off topic, you going to canada for studies?Great - just as I go to Canada... lol.
But thanks for this - I've saved it with me.
Only a few are in HD. It's definitely clearer, no sync issues, 50fps, but no timeshift. Is it worth applying for "HD-Channels" for Smart TV on VDSL?
Ah then its of no use, i talked with them on facebook and only 10 channels become HD which probably are not gonna be 1080p since they give only 3mbps for smart tv. Losing timeshift ability is kinda big loss. Most of the time i go back and watch news and tv dramas with pause ability when some work comes up so timeshift is a huge plus point for ptcl smart tv but then again no 1080p Channels is huge loss of quality for big tv screens.Only a few are in HD. Timeshift will be there on the equivalent SD channels - they're not set up for the HD channels. I wonder if with optical fiber they provide 1080p channels or just 480p
i see, thanks. i wish they could provide all channels Full HD with timeshift atleast 12 hours. Atm what i see is that timeshift is only 4 hours. Yep 4mbps is enough for Full HD with decent bitrate. Even 720p with good bitrate looks awesome.Timeshift will be there on the equivalent SD channels - they're not set up for the HD channels. That's what I meant.
Fiber or copper, you get 480p (or 376p) regardless - since that's what they transmit. HD doesn't require more than 5 or 6 Mbps, to be honest, if you use the normal compression that's used (AAC/H264).

Yes thats what i want 360p/480p is too low resolution and a lot of detail is lost.Full HD and timeshift on all channels?
They know they can get away with it right now. They'll do it when they can't get away with it.
Well - if your phone line is fine, then you can easily get 20Mbps - I've seen my ADSL modem stats (long before) and it said that my attainable line rate was around 22Mbps.Yes thats what i want 360p/480p is too low resolution and a lot of detail is lost.
Yep well said exactly they can get away with it for now. But i wish other ISPs can spread faster so PTCL
can get some competitive environment and maybe they can lower packages and provide better services. Even today
its 2022 PTCL cannot provide full 6mb/sec with single link connection and it hovers between 0 to 1.7MB/sec at best on my 50MBPS connection. But speed test always and will always give full speed![]()
I applied for 2nd Smart TV connection but they "Auto-Rejected" it and then later i called the help line they said its not feasible to install two smart tv on your line. Helpline asked me to apply for 2nd connection to get smart tv which will cost me 1k per month lol. I told them my line supports 125 Mbps download and i have 19 SNR with 50Mbps but no!! they dont understand that xDIn Islamabad, you've got Nayatel (who already has an HD service, with time shift and VOD - but no EPG). I used their app on the Mi Box (didn't get their HD box) and TBF, I was a bit underwhelmed - HD channels were out of sync (not all, only some) and there was no EPG. The interface was from yesteryears.
I did talk with the guy for my area and he said your area exchange doesnt support more than 1 smart tv even tho its vdslI tested it for free when I was with Nayatel - but https://nayatel.com/naya-tv/ say they do HD.
As for PTCL - maybe get in touch with your exchange? This is the biggest issue with PTCL - that they're just so bloody uncoordinated.
True i was using paid IPTV before PTCL Smart TV, But IPTV lags when someone opens Youtube even with bandwidth limited for all users. And there is issue of channels disappearing and then getting replaced by lower quality. Not to mention it requires 13Mbps for 1080p Content. While Youtube offers way better quality for 1080p while using only 4mbps. IPTV are so badly optimized, They are just wasting their bandwidth instead of using HEVC(H.265).Then maybe there are some capacity constraints - what I do know is that IPTV requires more bandwidth than satellite (or plain analog/cable) television since it has to distribute the stream to each device, but multicast overcomes this limitation... anyway.
What you could do - if you wanted to - is subscribe to the plethora of IPTV providers online. Not necessarily as cheap as Smart TV, but you do get WAY MORE channels (decent quality too) from all over the world, and if your provider is good, you get VOD and catchup on some of them too!

I know, my point was i have 50Mbps vdsl connection and some iptv lag when i open youtube on my computer even tho my computer bandwidth is limited to only 16mbps and iptv was assigned 15mbps and it still gets stuck and stops playing when i open youtube. Either that specific iptv has bandwidth issues or ptcl is causing issue.External IPTV relies on your internet bandwidth.
Thing with ADSL is that the bandwidth available to you - as an end user - is shared between Smart TV and your internet. With fiber, the bandwidth available to you (each household) can be in GBits - it's a soft cap enforced by the ISP. That's why if your ADSL line rate is, for e.g., 4 Mbps and you had a 4mbps internet package, then you could only stream smart TV and everything else would be slow (because 4 Mbps is the size of the pipe and your requirements are more), but if your ADSL line rate is, for example, 20Mbps and you had a 4 Mbps internet speed, then 4 + 4 Mbps (for TV) = 8 Mbps... which is less than 20 Mbps (the ADSL line rate).
So - it depends on what medium you use for connecting, and what is the baud rate.
IPTV from the internet relies on the normal internet, not a special, unthrottled internet pipe (like Smart TV, or any other IPTV's television service).
