Yeah my net also d/cs when I pick up the phone receiver. Ive been telling ptcl but theyre clueless. God! so shit - if anyone figures this out please let us in on it.

SO, today the PTCL person came and changed the wire from my home to the DB...it improved SNR from 15 to 20 but I am still getting disconnects whenever receiver is picked.

I have a question, the wire the comes from the pole to into my house. It's connected to that small box before the Splitter. Does it matter how those wires are plugged in that small box? Normal or inverted?

Before, when the Lineman changed that small box, I used to hear DSL connecting tone when router was Synching, not after he put the new one.

Yes it does. My 4 year old cousin messed them up once and I had to call the lineman to fix it. Took him the entire day for some reason.

This small box, this cable has 4 sub-wires where mine only has 2.

Does it matter here?

My SNR changed from 18 to 10 when I was on 4MB.

Same here. I just had the cable replaced. Line is perfectly clear. Yet, I am facing disconnections. The weird thing is though, through out the day the internet is fine and running at 8Mbps, in the morning (around 9 - 10 AM) the Red Light appears and the SNR takes a nose dive. And the phone is still clear. Every morning from 9 - 10 AM it does this. Otherwise, it's great.

Since I get a lot of calls from relatives on my landline, that also disrupts the internet, BUT only if it's a long call, if it's short then it doesn't matter, if its longer than 2 mins, the internet disconnects.

PTCL 2 mbps Problems ?

AOA Guys ! i am facing problem with PTCL since i join it. it keeps on disconnecting and my snr margin will always up and down i mean not stable and my neighbour next to my house also using 2 mbps ptcl for 2 years but haven't faced any problem. and my Attentiation is 500+.
whenever i call line man he says that my connection is running fine so i wanna quit of this f**king company any way to solve this problem i am constantly paying even i always payed bills before 5th of the month . or suggest me a good ISP in Pakistan or its not exist huh // i live in Lahore wish live in Karachi = connect . or Islamabad = Nayatel but have to stick with this poor Company
any help would be appriciated

In my experience ptcl is the only good ISP in Lahore at the moment and their tariffs are also low. The only problem with ptcl is their customer support and helpline. So make sure there are no problems in your line and ask the lineman to shift your connection to optic fiber if you're using a copper line . Otherwise if you still want to switch to a different ISP then you can try wateen or worldcall.

How many joints do you have in the phone cable? Check if there is fiber optic in your area, if there is then shift to that else try getting a single uncut piece of wire till your router.

I have only one joint where the grey slim wire connect with telephone black wire as i don't use landline phone so connected them straightly and i forget to tell you guys that my ptcl exchange says my connection on copper and line man says its on fiber as he have taken 1000/rs when he started my ptcl connection idk what else is happening ?? and in the beginning i get 500+ kbps as i have ordered 4 mbps connection but i have to degrade bcz i get around 300-340 kbps on 4 mbps so now my connection is 2 mbps and i have to call him every day to make my snr margin stable for around 1-2 hours after that same drama appears. is this the back Bone of pakistan ?., cant believe it ! i wish nayatel avalible in lahore but all i can do is wait for a good isp

I have 4mb pakage which is upgraded to 8mb due to promotion i m getting 9126 down rate and 1024 upload rates and my SNR is 30.1db and uttanable rates are 26.7 Kbps but i m getting 5.7 mbps in speed test and downloading 750 kbps i have registered complain but they simply say that line may be not capable.and sometime they said that we have 60% policy so you will get 776 kbps for 8mb pakage.if any anyone have knowlegde about this please guide me what shoul i do THANKS

Friends i am facing very weird problem with my Ptcl 4mb package.i m getting speed
1-1.3 mb at day (transfer rate 100-130) & and at midnight i get 2-2.5mb
(transfer rate 200-300) it all happend on 4th nov at 4pm. in past i faced
the same problem on 9 August but it suddenly resolve on 31 august after 00:00
when date changed to 1st september.one thing to mention here is this is not
only my problem all my friends living in my town are facing same problem.Whether they
are using 1,2 or 4mb connection. (i contact lineman he told me thet all ptcl exchanges
having ZTE setup installed facing this problem because problem in ZTE server is it true?)another
strange thing is that when i download a video from dailymotion i got 450+ speed.with every video i download from dailymotion i noticed this
(http://proxy-04.ptcl.dailymotion.com)with video download link. so friends this my complicated problem.

I have a 1Mbps PTCL connection but I am getting around 2+Mbps. Is there some promotion going on which I don't know about or something?

UPDATE: Called their helpline. Apparently there's a promotion going on until 31st March 2015. We get 2Mbps at the same price

I've tweeted the PTCLCares guy to confirm.
