Anyone facing extremely slow playstore app downloads on Jazz ? Speedtest result are 20mbps + but apps are dowloading painfully slow. I am using Jazz device plus even on 4G its very slow.

This started happening very recently though it took 30 mins to download a 50mb camscanner app,

Yes same here speed test shows 30mbps+ both upload and download but when i try to download i get only 500KB to 1MB max don't know what is happening and I'm also using 4G cloud device.
because you are selecting multiple stream in speed test that's why it shows you maximum possible download speed on your connection select single stream it will show you simulated single file download speed

I downloaded the latest Galaxy A50 firmware and looked through the CSC files. Found mentions of IMS and VoLTE for not one, but two carriers.

It shows IMS profiles for both Jazz and Zong.

There is no mention of VoLTE for Telenor or Ufone, but in the latest firmware, there is a VoLTE flag for both Jazz and Zong.

Interesting thing is, the S10+ also received a firmware update recently, but the CSC files for Pakistan in that firmware still do not mention VoLTE. As far as I know, only A50 has them right now.

That is very surprising indeed, A50 got really lucky if even S10+ doesn't got the volte profiles.

Now if you can post those csc values here, maybe it will help rooted users on other samsung phones to get volte access maybe ?

There are no values. They're just flags in the CSC for enabling the VoLTE toggle and options in settings, along with some values set by the carriers for other stuff.

The actual 'APN' for VoLTE is stored somewhere else. I'll dig around more to see if I can find that.

And furthermore, Jazz and Zong are yet to enable VoLTE on their end so it won't work for anyone else anyway.

Per my knowledge .. csc data on android 8 on samsung phones are under system/csc/pak.

But now it have changed on latest firmwares. The only two main data files are customer.xml and others.xml

Thanks for the research bro , hope you will find them too [emoji106]

The files I found were extracted from the OMC folder in product.img which was inside the CSC file that I got from the A50 stock firmware.

Some files were encrypted so I had to use a tool to decrypt those first, didn't find anything particularly useful though, just saw that the following flag is enabled in A50 firmware and not in other phones:

<CscFeature_RIL_SupportVolte>TRUE</CscFeature_RIL_SupportVolte>
For the other stuff that I found, screenshots attached below.

IMS profiles for both Jazz and Zong:
Spoiler: show

List of networks in PAK CSC, notice how only Jazz and Zong have IMS tags:
Spoiler: show

You got them man , if you could extract these xml files plus another xml file which is like this:

I am pretty much sure having updated volte xml of ims settings, connection settings and others.xml will enable volte on most samsung devices on android 7+

Will upload them in a bit.

The file you mentioned called 'others.xml' is now called cscfeatures_network.xml.

EDIT: Here are the files, both decrypted and encrypted:

Even on single speed is great over 18mbps, problem is only with playstore downloads, rest all is working fine.

I believe i cannot test it in my s7 edge because my city won't get volte any soon, but you can test it if you or your friend has a rooted samsung s8 or s7 , should be on android 7 or 8 (not 9). As soon as you or anyone can access volte on A50 or other phone , open those 3 xmls you shared on pc and open any file manager on your rooted android 7/8 samsung to edit /system/csc/pak/customer and others.xml.

Now the trick is you need to observe other csc's in system/csc/ like XSG which means UAE. They have volte configuration lines. You need to match and exactly put volte lines from A50 xml's in pak's customer xml and others xml corresponding to volte lines in XSG so that it matches the phone's formation of xml. Its tricky and difficult but may work.

Pls backup data and have firmware in hand for reflashing if it causes some problem or soft bricks the device. I will test this myself when volte is deployed in my city but it won't any time soon. Thanks for your efforts.

I think there's more to it, and I'll try to find out. These XMLs are for toggles and region specific features.

It's also far too early for anything to provide any useful results.

A guy from Romania on Telegram said his carrier (Vodafone RO) had made a press release about successfully testing VoLTE back in 2014 or so, but they never rolled it out. The other two competing carriers did roll it out, but not Vodafone.

They quietly rolled it out a few days ago, and the reason it took so long was because they were committed to implementing it in the best possible way. The competing carriers just have VoLTE, but Vodafone RO rolled out VoLTE with EVS (super wideband audio codec) and SMS over IP, which the other two carriers did not.

So maybe Jazz and Zong have been making us wait for this long because they are doing the same, and if you look at the screenshots I posted last night, the 'SMS over IP' flag is set to TRUE for both Jazz and Zong profiles.

Either way, far too early to tell, and this gives us no information on how ready or not ready they actually are to roll it out. If a European giant like Vodafone took 5 years, then I don't have a lot of hope for local telcos, especially if that part about VoLTE requiring a license from PTA is true.

Yeah it can be long to massively roll out volte here in pakistan and i wish they integrate vowifi too. But i just told you the method to enable volte on the phone on any samsung. These 2,3 xml's can be used to enable volte on rooted samsung phones which didn't got updated volte csc. But if and when volte is launched and me or others who still have these older samsungs can test this. After all, recent flagships are going north of 200k rupees.

It's quite strange that you have the option to toggle it on/off.

When I switched SIMs, VoLTE toggle was enabled but greyed out for the first few days so I couldn't turn it off.

Pixel 2 here, no VoLTE toggle.

On Mobilink.

Btw, has anyone received their bill, which was supposed to be generated on the 8th?
