Since you will travel across Pakistan, go for Zong. Jazz has good speed but their coverage is just inside the cities only. Zong has 4G coverage all over the country

Zong ftth will compete with zong mbb. Also they will have to lay their own cables which will be a huge PITA.

I guess they are acknowledging that 5G will not be good enough to serve all last mile users. I thought it would be enough but there was an article I read recently that said that it wouldn't.

Impressive telenor 3G while on call

It doesn't end there - just got this in Blue Area (outside Crown Hotel, near our branch/old Citi Bank).

First, I decided to test randomly:

I quickly decided to check the signal strength - and this was it (it's a different app - the one I used to use doesn't work on Android 10 beta when 4G is connected):

I decided to try once again, in the same spot (I must've raised the phone a little bit, or held it differently), and got this:

This was the signal reading:

The final reading was this:

This is very, very, VERY good for Telenor.

In my preliminary test, I was able to stay on 3G during the call (I dialed 555, and it would disconnect me eventually but I promptly redialed).

With Mobilink, it tends to kick you off 3G after a while (time wise or distance wise - not sure). Not with Telenor.

Granted, it's the first test, but I'm sure Telenor holds onto the 3G signals longer than Mobilink because in my office, where we do have a 3G antenna, Mobilink holds on to the signal easily but on my floor, the antenna is missing (it's present on the floor above and below mine) and calls drop to 2G in no time.

Telenor doesn't fall back to 2G as often. Yes, it's not as fast but it's not dead. And calls are generally stable on Telenor (unless something weird happens).

I haven't tested Telenor's call on the Islamabad Highway, but I reckon it would be stable.

The average 4G speeds I was getting was between 8Mbps (at worst) and 20Mbps (not "at best", but fairly regularly). Indoors, it would be lower. If only they could do what Mobilink has done with their 4G signals, these guys would have a stellar product.

Right now, I would say it's decent, with some caveats. And since data doesn't drop on 3G, you can use 3G for what it was made for.

murtaza12, is Mobilink down at your end?

Looks like the tower near my home is dead. 2G, 3G and 4G - all dead.

For the past few hours or so.

Working fine here, using 4G to reply to your post.

Signals have been pathetic for the past few days though. Significantly weaker than usual. It's at -111 dBm right now.

Hopefully in your case they're working on improving something since you had issues in the past with voice calls.

Although knowing them, I doubt it they're doing anything. Lazy buggers.
