Jazz is now using 40 MHz of total LTE bandwidth (in certain parts of Islamabad)

20 MHz B3 + 10 MHz B8 + 10 MHz B1 (was 5 MHz previously)

There was NO Jazz 3G available in this area. I forced my phone to 3G only and it showed 'Emergency Calls Only' and ServiceMode showed it was connected to a Zong tower.

2G only works with 900 MHz.

I believe this is the way forward—sunsetting 3G and reallocating its spectrum for 4G, given that 3G customers now number fewer than 3 million across all networks. Unfortunately, the deployed spectrum is still 30 MHz in Faisalabad, with 20 MHz in Band 3 and 5 MHz each in Bands 1 and 8. However, I think they will soon begin shutting down 3G in major cities and refarm that spectrum for 4G.

Jazz and Ufone (after their merger) now have sufficient spectrum for 2G even after allocating 40 MHz for 4G. Jazz still has 4.8 MHz in Band 3 and 0.8 MHz in Band 8 for 2G. Similarly, if Ufone deploys the same 40 MHz pattern for 4G after the merger, they would still have 4.8 MHz in Band 3, 0.8 MHz in Band 8, and a full 10 MHz in Band 5 (which is unlikely to be renewed).

In the future, Zong might acquire additional spectrum in Band 1 to compete with Jazz and Ufone.

Zong have B1 10MHz band but show in pictures zong B1 have 20 MHz band ,it means Ur mobile not showing proper parameter

Which engineering mode app are you using. I downloaded some from playstore and google and all are saying that my device isn't mediatek, while my chipset is Helio G99 Mediatek.

PTA should come forward & announce the shutdown of legacy network 2g & 3g by 2030 maximum, with the flexibility given to the operators that if they wish to shutdown it early then they can with no strings attached. Also ban the sale of 2g/3g only new phone by end of this year. I believe this is the only way to move forward.

So I e-mailed CCP to inquire reegarding delayed decision of PTCL-Telenor merger. Here is their response.

With reference to your email regarding delayed decision on PTCL-Telenor Merger, please note that the Commission has initiated a second phase review in the said case for which 90 working days under regulation 12(3) of Competition Merger (Control Regulations) 2016 are required for its decision. The time period of 90 working days will lapse by the end of September 2024 depending upon completion of information necessary for the analysis.



We have already invited the relevant stakeholders including Mobilink, Zong, Wateen and Transworld etc. The Commission has fixed meetings with the stakeholders on different dates in order to analyse the Competition concerns more deeply that may arise due to the intended transaction.



This transaction will completely change dynamics of the market, therefore it is crucial to carefully analyse it from regulators perspective and seek opinion from competitors. Hence the post-merger analysis will take time.
