This was the reason Telenor backed off. According to bloomberg Telenor has put Pakistan business up for sale against $1 billion. Entities from Middle East and Asia (read PTCL and China Mobile) already working in Pakistan will reportedly participate in bidding.
Who do you think should buy Telenor? And why?
Still no bidding took place. Was that news fake?

right i guess they will not leave. no one will pay them that huge amount. lets see.
May be. Keeping in mind the economic situation of the country it does not make sense to invest 1 billion $ in Pakistan by purchasing Telenor which has lowest ARPU among all operators. Etisalat does not have that much money. Zong might have but they seems not interested in buying Telenor just for the sake of customers. Telenor and Ufone might join hands for a merger to lower their fixed cost and increasing their resources and ARPU. But this is going to be a merger not acquisition. Just like Telenor did in Malysia with Celcom and today 01.12.2022 their new merged company started their operation. Pakistan is the new market where they focus now to join hands with some operator. It could be SCO as well.

Exactly it would be merger opportunity. Previous year same news was circulating about merger between two cellulars but it didnt take place.

Buying Telenor is just going to be an extra burden specially for Zong. Zong right now has 44 Million total customer out of which they have 34 Million 3G/4G users (77%) who are their basic paying users. On the other hand Telenor has 46 Million total customers (were 49 Million at start of 2022) out of which 55% are 3G/4G users. At even from that 55% most of them are being used as secondary sims. And soon Zong will overtake Telenor in terms of total customer (probably in next 6 months). Now what Zong will get if it decides to buy Zong agaisnt whopping $1 Billion? Around 20 Million low paying users and 26 Million useless users. But with the help of those $1 Billion they can not only buy 5G spectrum but can also roll out 5G infrastructure. And aggressive 5G rollout they can enhance their user base in same way they enhanced after 2014 NGMS auction. Remember Zong was on 4th number before 2014. And now they are second biggest network. It could have been number one if Warid did not exit the market. So buying Telenor is not viable for Zong when 5G is just around the corner.
For SCO it is seems very tough. Since it is under Army and seeing the current reputation of Army it seems more difficult apart from financial matters.
Ufone and Telenor merger seems only viable option which I have explained earlier.

It will be bad news if ufone/ptcl emirate subsidiary own telenor. They are already very expensive in terms of data/call bundles. It will be total hegemony of ufone.
It is unclear if it is Etisalat or some other UAE based company. There are many companies in Pakistan related to Telecom business. I think it is not Etisalat because spending around $1 billion is no joke. And Etislat is not even spending money on expanding on 4G coverage of existing network Ufone.

Telecom sector in Pakistan is a huge and profitable market. Many international buyers may be interested in the opportunity.
Not anymore due to high cost of operating. Electricity units price is so high for Telcos. Return on investment rate in Pakistan is so low as compare to other markets. Tax on Telecos earning is also very high in Pakistan. Keeping in mind the economic stability of Pakistan, it is not wise to invest billions of dollars in the country. Telenor will hardly find a buyer at good price. Problem is that Jazz cam not buy or merge with them due to CCP restrictions. Ufone does not have that much money and their deal already fall down. And Zong does not want to buy. External buyer is only choice at the moment and investing that much money in near to default country is a big risk.

So I am finally back on PG :) Its been a long time since I posted here. I miss Tapatalk app where I would have been online on the forum for 24 hours. But anyways, I will try my best to be active on the forum again.

I finally ported back to Jazz after 1 year and they have improved indoor coverage at my place. Atleast I get 2G signals now :).

I wanted to ask anyone here with cheapest option of the cell phone which supports carrier aggregation and it should be a Samsung phone so I can use VoLTE too. Currently I am using Tecno Camon 19 Neo and I am getting low speeds but atleast VoLTE works. So I am looking for a cheapest option which can support Carrier Aggregation. Your suggestions are welcomed.

Used POCO X3 or X3 pro. Both supports CA and Jazz VoLTE
