TLoU 2 feels like the kind of game where people will be deciphering and discovering new things for months to come. There's so much content and variation in the game.

Public service post so people can see Chandoo's post :p

Edit: Indeed, there's are so many possible variations. I've really come to appreciate the game's dynamic cover system. Shooting enemies in the foot and taking cover behind them for a couple of seconds to use a dual-handed weapon (instead of holding them up with a pistol) is something I hadn't even thought of until I recently saw someone's playthrough lol.

Along with the PS total sales record, TLoU 2 has also set the record for fastest selling Digital PS game.

Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part 2 also broke a record. The game's 2.8 million digital unit sales is the most ever for a PlayStation exclusive in its launch month -- ahead of both Marvel's Spider-Man and Final Fantasy VII Remake, which each sold 2.2 million units.

Permadeath options ?

that kind of thing is not my cup of tea but I can see a lot of people deriving a lot of enjoyment out of stuff like that.

Wishful thinking: I hope they also patch in the option to disable film-grain in the gameplay.

At the top of my wishlist is support for gyro aim. Bend Studios did the same for Days Gone post-launch. Speaking of which, I really need to get that game next time it's on sale. Most of the technical issues are probably ironed out by now. The stuttering while traveling on bike is unfortunate, but yeah.

Yes, Days Gone is in the best state it will ever be. Most of the launch issues and hiccups are fixed and they added a bunch of extra modes which make it a great purchase at a sale price.

A bit late to the party but i finished the game a few days ago. Loved everything about it and I was lucky enough to avoid each and every spoiler that were leaked online before launch.

Everything that happened in the game is completely justified considering what happened at the end of the first part. But I couldn't wrap my head around one aspect of the game and which could have been explained better. Wanted to know where your opinion on this stands.

Abby kills Joel in the most gruesome way possible that I have come across recently in a video game. Even her team members were disturbed on how things turned out between joel and abby at Jackson. Yet Abby suddenly develops a soft corner for Yara and Lev on Seattle Night 1, where she only spent like an hour or two with them. This just didn't go with her personality depicted in Jackson during the first few hours.

Grounded Difficulty and Permadeath Mode officially announced with trailer and PS blog post:

https://blog.playstation.com/2020/0...grounded-difficulty-permadeath-mode-and-more/

For veteran The Last of Us fans, Grounded difficulty represents the ultimate test of skill. This difficulty raises the stakes by not only making enemies deadlier and ammo, upgrade, and crafting materials incredibly scarce, but also removing invaluable tools for survival, such as disabling Listen mode, deactivating elements of the HUD, and more**. Beginning with the update, Grounded will become one of the base difficulty options available when starting the story, so you won’t need to have beaten the game once already to access it.

As an additional layer of challenge, we’re also introducing a brand new Permadeath mode***. With this custom mode enabled, there are no second chances — you must complete the entire game without dying or start over from the beginning. However, if taking on the whole game is too daunting, you can choose to enable Permadeath mode with checkpoints on a per-chapter or per-act basis. In other words, if you die at the end of Day One, you’ll have to play the entire day over again.

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE !!!

New graphics, audio, and gameplay modifiers
Have you ever wondered what The Last of Us Part II would look like as a cel-shaded adventure or if it was made in the retro 8-bit era? How about if it was a black and white noir thriller or sepia-toned classic? With this week’s update, we’re adding nearly 30 new graphics rendering modes, as well as several new audio modifiers that allow you to change the look and feel of the game.

  • Mirror World
    [*]Mirror on Death
    [*]Slow Motion
    [*]Bullet Speed mode
    [*]Infinite Ammo
    [*]Infinite Crafting
    [*]Infinite Melee Durability
    [*]Infinite Listen mode Range
    [*]One Shot
    [*]Touch of Death
    [*]8-bit Audio
    [*]4-bit Audio
    [*]Helium Audio
    [*]Xenon Audio

  • Saves now display playtime up to the second
    [*]Film Grain Adjustment option
    [*]Disable Listen Mode option
    [*]Motion Sensor Function Aiming option
    [*]Arc Throw HUD Display option
    [*]Aiming Acceleration Scale option
    [*]Aiming Ramp Power Scale option
[*]Accessibility improvements to Ground Zero encounter, collectible tracking, Enhanced Listen Mode for collectibles, and rope gameplay

If the cell-shaded mode looks any good, that'll be my next playthrough.

Spoilers:
Well, Abby's character development basically starts after she kills Joel. You are right that at that point, it's hard to see her for anything other than a monster. But then we go through the context of both Joel's killing as well as the change in Abby's personality. Of course, the Joel thing was brutal because it was revenge for the killing of Abby's father and other Fireflies, which basically defined Abby's life and purpose after her dad's death. She trained for years in WLF for that day in Jackson. But that chapter closes there as WLF goes back to minding their business. Abby is back on the hunt when Ellie starts killing WLF people. That's when she comes across Seraphites as well who are WLF's nemesis. Yara and Lev directly save Abby's life after her capture by Seraphites. This is big in itself. Secondly, since Yara and Lev were being hunted by their own group, Abby could see that they are not the bad guys nor have they harmed her or her friends - unlike Joel. Perhaps most importantly, Abby feels some kind of guilt ever since Jackson and the chance to save and help Yara and Lev, especially considering they saved her life, offers redemption and meaning (she admits to Lev that guilt is why she's helping them). This interaction with two Seraphites outcasts also changes her view on this rival prophetic cult and she ultimately disagrees with WLF attacking their island in the name of future peace. And, of course, Yara dies to save Abby's life once again. Now Lev has no one but her and they've gone through all this together. This is how I see Abby's character development.

I dont think games have looked any better since 2019 onwards and they are performing worse and worse. Game developers have really dropped the ball.

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.

After I watched it, I never felt like i watched a show. It was a friggin journey. I got way too attached to Thorfinn and seeing him grow up and find himself and get rid of all the negativity inside of him was just pure bliss.

With how great cod warzone has translated onto mobile. Mainstream Consoles have lost its value even further. Maybe console gaming was associated with TVs and how TV is not the primary source of media consumption anymore, consoles will lose its 200 million core audiences even further.
