omg so much confusion in this thread, ppl unable to handle the outcomes and what not. this takes me back to the martha scene of bvs. explaining how things worked out and who empahtiszes with whom but people are gonna be people i guess. no one i mean no one here would want to be wrong here, RIGHT. sheesh

i can counter the nay sayers one by one as i have read it all here but whats the use, they aren't gonna say "hey man you are right i was wrong would they :p'

for all thsoe having issues with open world, this was never open world .

Druckmann explained that this balance between larger areas and more scripted segments is predicated on the tension Naughty Dog strives to deliver.
“Unlike an open world game that is usually open all the time, that [type of] game doesn’t work for us for The Last of Us because that loses tension. If I need to go rescue someone, and [the game] says ‘OK go rescue them right now...or do these 10 other things on the side,’ you lose tension,” he said.

anyways Ended tlou II non spoiler lil review below

What a journey it has been in the past 4 days. A roller coaster ride of full of emotions and brutality and showing humanitys core.

While tlou2 might have its downsides with the story but i find it quite fine as it is in a totally different direction from the first part.
Ellies segments were drama-esque while abbys were action wise mostly.

One thing that no one can take away from this game is its visual prowess which it is truly dominant upon. A techincal marvel for the ps4. I thought god of war is top notch until i played this. Truly shows off the ps4s power in its last cycle. Exactly what tlou was for the ps3.

I'd rate it 8/10 while not perfect it is a superb game.

Oh boy .... this is gonna be a big one :)p)

Man, it sucks how your exploration can be thwarted by story progression if you were to explore the wrong place first. It would have been nice if the game had an optional story/objective marker.

It does, you can enable it in the accessibility options.

The game literally draws a Call of Duty style arrow to let you know which way to go for the story.

Spoiler: show

I like how Abby said "Good" when she hears Dina is pregnant and was about to slit her throat until Lev stopped her.
How she vomits when she sees Owen dead but has no issues golfing someone to a pulp or slitting pregnant women :tv:

At least Ellie felt some remorse after she got to know that Mel was pregnant, I doubt Abby would have felt any the way she was ready to kill Dina.

The only flaw with Ellie is that she let Abby go after killing so many possibly innocent people in the way to get to her, including Fat Geralt who helps her find Abby's (Girll, Biceps like mine(Wtf? I thought she was literally malnourished at that point with just bones showing)) whereabouts and even stops his friend from causing violence with her.

Joel and Tommy are suddenly trusting bunch of random individuals and giving them their name and address, Hey guys am JOEL MILLER who definitely had nothing to do with taking down Fireflies, just drop by my place for some tea.

Tommy: Yeah guys meet my brother JOEL MILLER

On the contrary they didn't even tell Joel's surname. I wonder how many Joels did Abby kill at this point :p

So you're saying .... violence begetting more violence leads to an endless circle .. which is bad ?

because that's exactly the point the game is hammering in, thank you for understanding Druckmann's vision :p

Also some of your points are flat out wrong :p
Spoiler: show

- Joel never introduces himself as Joel Miller, Abby says it *AFTER* shooting him.
- Joel has trusted people in TLoU 1 to show them to their hideouts when they're under attack too (Henry, the black guy)
- If you paid even a little attention to the story during your skimming of the youtube cut-scenes, Abby and Owen talk multiple times about how they have been searching for Joel and Tommy for a long while and they are in Jackson *BECAUSE* someone sighted Tommy there, not Joel. When Tommy foolishly tells them "Hey I'm Tommy, this is my brother Joel", they know they have the right combo.
- Abby explicitly asks her group not to kill Ellie or Tommy in Jackson, but by the time she and Ellie fight, she had just seem Ellie kill a bunch of her friends, including a pregnant woman. She is obviously angry and a bit crazy at that point until Lev stops her. Before the theater fight, Abby seems like a reasonable person, her only issue was getting revenge on Joel. She even goes back to save Lev and Yara when she absolutely didn't have to, and goes against her faction to get medical supplies for YAra.

So, in terms of the narrative, Ellie is more of the villain of this story than Abby is.

And none of the random enemy NPC's count because you can literally avoid killing a single one by stealth going through the environments. So that's more of a player agency thing, not mandated by the plot.

Please can anyone elaborate what is so amazing about gameplay.
- The sheer range of combat/navigation moves, which are second only to MGS V: The Phantom Pain and not cover/shoot/cover/shoot like most games do
- The accessibility to either play like a shooter or like a Splinter Cell game depending on how you want to play it

Or you can just watch the numerous awesome videos you can find on youtube already.

Put in any game's name here and anyone can dismiss it just as easily by saying "what's awesome about this game play" lol

Oh Persona 5 royal is a re-release now thought you said its a new game. Oh wait it is a re-release now that Tlou 2 isnt on top anymore I get it.
Nah, it is a re-release (a fantastic one at that), not a remake, and therefore isn't likely to be in the running for GoTY either.

No matter how good the Graphics, Animation and Gameplay is the game still does NOT deserve 10/10 by every critic.
But there are plenty of critics who gave it scores ranging between a 6.5 and a 10. It's unfair to say that every critic gave it a 10.

Spoiler: show

Spoiler: show
1. Abby responded to Ellie in that manner because Ellie had already killed a pregnant friend of hers. She had a "look who's talking" expression on her face. But what's important to note here is that she listened to Lev and stopped what she was going to do. In the end, Abby didn't kill a pregnant woman, but Ellie did.

2. 5 years had passed since the Fireflies incident, so Tommy mentioning Joel's name wasn't so unusual. He probably didn't think anyone would be coming after him at this point. Joel killed Marlene in order to ensure this. He also killed the doctor (Abby's dad) because he was the only one capable of performing the surgery.

3. Not mentioning Joel's surname wasn't necessary. Abby's group used available information and leads to trace him to Tommy's settlement. There couldn't have been anyone else there with those names and fitting their description.

Nice avatar, btw

Seems like not a lot of people playing the game are bothering to check them. There are dozens of cool things you can enable from there including:

- Objective Marker showing you where to go for the story (Solitary and Major Aly, this is for you)
- Max Payne style slow-mo at the press of a button
- High contrast mode which makes objects and enemies pop out of the backgrounds
- FoV and camera distance controls, to increase your viewable screen area
- Auto pick up loot/items, so you dont have to press a button every time to pick something
- Auto perform small tasks like QTE's, going through paths which require pressing buttons

My gripe isn’t about an objective marker missing, I would completely have a natural no HUD experience and with exploration games, I like to take my time exploring stuff. Wish there wasn’t a point of no return thing included which would’ve made my exploring worry-free.

And I had gone through many accessibility options even used them for the plat :p

Explains their vision for the story and why certain things happened the way they did.

obviously DO NOT WATCH UNTIL YOU HAVE FINISHED THE GAME.

One thing that I can say here: Druckmann admits one of his biggest inspirations was Metal Gear Solid 2, which explains one of the biggest twists in the game :D

He's also a fan of Dishonored, Hotline Miami, and Inside. You can see influences from all 4 games in TLOU Part II.

Spoiler: show
That new infected boss was probably inspired by the giant ball of dead humans that you take control of towards the end of Inside.

1. Bruh that was just a meme. I know Tommy introduces him as Joel which is out of character for even Tommy considering how he has survived all those years away from civilization.
2. About Henry he had asked him "How many of you are there" and stuff, He was skeptical of him in TLOU and didn't trust him straight on. Do you remember that scene where Joel runs over a guy calling for help saying to Ellie "Oh he ain't even hurt".
3. That's what I am talking about. Why is any one of them so dumb after surviving for so long giving away their names like that knowing they might be on the hunt after what happened to fireflies? Maybe another *Context* in the game explains it which I didn't watch in walkthroughs I guess.
4. Bruh I still don't know how it justifies Abby killing a pregnant woman knowingly without remorse and even saying "GOOD". If Lev wasn't there she would have slit Dina already then who would be the worst character Abby or Ellie? Maybe the only difference between the two is that there was no one with Ellie to guide her while Abby had Lev.

And none of the random enemy NPC's count
This is such an irony if you consider how they connected the two games :tv:

Spoiler: show
You never know Fat Geralt's kids might be coming at Ellie next sequel.

1. Yes the difference is that Ellie did not know the woman she was killing is pregnant and had no one besides her to make her realize what she is doing while Abby had Lev.
2. I don't know how in a survivor world where they went through so much they trusted a group of nobodies so easily, Anyway.
3. Again, Tommy mentioning their names to complete strangers was absolutely unnecessary, dumb and might be a plot device to forcefully move the story to where it went.

RE: Joel

It's the exact same thing he does in TLoU 1, only there he isn't being swarmed by dozens of infected so the stakes are far lesser.

and

Spoiler: show
You're forgetting, this is not the same Joel from TLoU 1.

*THAT* was a loner and a smuggler working with Tess and other shady people.

This is a Joel living in a family-like community for 4~5 years and there are multiple files which mention how people from the community go out to find and rescue survivors on their trips, the earliest you can read about it is when Ellie and Dina are in the first look out tower very early on in the game way before the Abby things happen. There is a notebook on the watch tower.

Joel was just doing what the community has been doing for years when he rescued Abby. Him and Tommy asked Abby to take them to their hideout because they were being overwhelmed by the infected, just like how Joel asks Henry to take him and Ellie to their hideout.

The other question about how Abby and her crew knew who Joel was just like that is easily explained, they have been searching for Joel and Tommy for 3~4 years at that point, they know full well about their appearance, approximate location etc.

RE: Murdering people

Spoiler: show
Abby was pretty mentally fucked up at the theater fight, it's pretty clear she was furious, she shot Jessie and Tommy point blank without a thought because most of her very close friends had been killed by Ellie by then, her trying to kill Dina was an 'eye for an eye' for Mel, but Lev was there to stop her. We can say if anyone was with Ellie (Jessie, Tommy etc) she wouldn't be killing so many people remorselessly either. In the earlier boat area, Jessie gets upset at Ellie for wanting to leave Tommy behind and go after Abby in her blind rage.

In the ending it's the opposite, Abby just wants to be done and Ellie threatens her by putting a knife on lev's throat to make Abby fight her. At that point having Ellie kill Abby would have cemented her dark turn completely, the ending shows that even Ellie can forgive and attempt to redeem herself.

It's OK to have fundamental issues with the story, but we cannot say there are holes in the plot. The game does a very good job of explaining everything, sometimes a little too over-explained IMO.

the actions in the story are pretty just. the game not only gives information in cutscenes alone but during the game so much is revealed and shown. one cannot just understand the game by watching cutscenes alone at ALL

i myself played the game once and doing my 2nd run for the platinum and i just realized

Spoiler: show
that owen bumped mel as well and the same kinda triangle that is going on with ellie dina and jessie is going on with abby owen and mel . pfft

Finally finished it last night... Took me a good 37 hours on survivor mode.

Every single aspect apart from the story is a step up from the previous. Amazing level design that compliments combat encounters so well. Combat encounters are extremely tense especially on survivor mode and that is where the game shines, at least for me. As far as the story goes, I get why some people wont dig it as much, compared to the first one. The first one had a very grounded story concentrated on the relationship between Ellie and Joel. This time around it tries a different approach by showing different perspectives. For the most part it works for me but it is definitely not as hard hitting as the first one. Its still a very engaging tale honestly but the first one just set the bar so high that its difficult to achieve in terms of narrative. But for what the game forgoes in narrative, it makes up more than that in terms of gameplay.

Spoiler: show
For me the main plot of the story is still fantastic. the only reason it falls a bit short is because i wasnt able to connect with Abby the same way I connected with Ellie. I think thats probably the main reason why the game isnt as hard hitting as the first game. I think I would have enjoyed the same story line more if told only from the perspective of Ellie in some way.

This was worth the seven year wait for an amazing sequel. Loved it.

Off-Topic: Bhai yeh kaun bol raha tha KHI mein light nahi jati ? Hun araam aa !!!

you need to watch this from the 15 minute point, Druckmann and Troy Baker give a detailed answer on your biggest issue with the story, it's basically the same thing me and CT said but it's good to hear it verified and in better detail from the creators.

Just watched the credits role and I have to say the game doesn't deserve all the negativity, Abuses will lead to baning, swearing, cursing etc. It was an emotional roller coaster ride for me. I wouldn't say it had the best story ever but it was pretty good. Connecting the various story elements. Just because of the leaks and a very dramatic scene in the game doesn't mean its a bad game at all. Every fan of the franchise should at least give it a chance and play the entire game first before commenting and jumping to conclusions. Whenever i thought the game had impressed me enough it kept on throwing new things at you and makes you wonder how is that even possible.

I would give it an easy 9/10, considering the overall story, gameplay, setting, visuals, combat and stuff. Haters can go screw themselves.

I am even more eager for the third installment but it wont be coming anytime soon i guess.

Spoiler: show
they were talking about the bite from the clicker when Ellie was in the Rattler's trap. Her tattoo pretty much covered up her original bite without a sign, and she tells Dina she tells people the mark was from a chemical burn.

and... when your game's guitar has more detail and accuracy than the entirety of most games :coffee0: ND truly are the kings of details. Their PS5 output should be insane (probably their first game will be the TLoU Factions MP game on the TLoU 2 engine).

Really hope they do this. Factions multiplayer with these combat mechanics would be glorious.

Post ending title screen.

Spoiler: show
So.. based on what Druckmann said, the building in the title menu after you beat the game is *not* the Rattlers compound, but the place the Fireflies told Abby about on Catalina Island based on a real casino. Meaning Abby and Lev were successfully able to make it to the Fireflies.

She got her happy ending after all, unlike Ellie. I guess that means we won't see Abby in the third game, it should be a continuation of Ellie's story.
