Just reached the open Seattle region shown in the various trailers, and it's already a lot to take in.
I've been spoiled about what Abby does since the leaks first came out, but damn, seeing is believing!
The combat feels empowering, and the encounter design is excellent so far. Being able to dodge melee attacks does make the infected seem like less of a threat (playing on Survivor difficulty here), but it also balances out the trial-and-error nature of tackling clickers in the first game. That said, there's a notable increase in the number of enemies in a single encounter, so things are definitely more tense here.
Traversal also feels better, and puzzles aren't as simple as they were in part I. There's platforming too, and the ability to jump feels like a very natural addition to Ellie's moveset.
Thoroughly impressed with the gameplay so far. It's not revolutionary, but the stealth-action is best in class. Right up there with MGSV and Dishonored 2. Can't say much about the AI, as I have yet to encounter any human enemies. Friendly AI is improved, as it generally stays hidden during stealth unlike in part I.
Visuals are jaw dropping. Animations are equally fantastic, but I feel like the jump animation is a little off, especially when making contact with the ground after a jump. It seems a little abrupt.
Already playing the game and the story is inferior to first installment.
