My bros , Greetings.

Since there is dearth of platforms in Pakistan to have an intelligible dialogue, let's settle here

The yearning to do MBA, recently there has been a burgeoning enrollment in MBA programs, these MBA schools have been popping out like zanac pills, just take a left turn every few block and there it is. The attribution of this phenomena goes to no other than "Iqra university" giving out MBA degrees like kale salad on a Sunday church afternoon, but one cant blame them with the restriction of IBA for the elites only the proletariat had no other option. And so we commenced on a self fulfilling prophecy

The origins

Why a common 20+ (or other middle aged God fearing having kids, driving a prius) guy is compelled to do MBA?

Why isn't one college degree sufficient , why we have to have a second graduate degree ? the reason lies with this inter system (18 years of worthless crass, asinine years,) multiplied with anachronistic university education in Pakistan . I graduated from NED with EE bachelor, the thought of waving around with an engineering degree unemployed haunted me, thankfully daddy xi jin ping was just around the corner with CPEC, and so I was employed in CPEC projects. The haunting thing was even though I had a job, my responsibilities had nothing to do with what I studied and all the core engineering and testing & commissioning tasks were performed by Chinese themselves . They wanted to give us responsibilities but TBH we were not trained with the pragmatic aspects of engineering, and after spending 5 years in CPEC projects (still active) I realized that the only thing Pak and people have contributed to CPEC is real estate, all core things were the benevolence of China and it left us worse off, a double edged sword infact.

so It was the beginning of Jesuits prediction and the arrival of salvation, that I began to comprehend getting into MBA to buttress my career and I fell into the fallacy that most people fall for “My man let me get an MBA from IBA and then when I have eviscerated 1.3 Million and 4 years of toil, imma make it In the game”.

The preparation

Since I was a product of Matric system, I didn’t know how to clear MBA admission test, then there was Daddy IBA grads ( The best con system out there) , basically all their course books are copies of GMAT & GRE kaplan series. My chinese mates told me about Gaokao 高考 Chinese version of SAT and how they prepared for it, and with some logic and Kaplan GRE book, Manhattan GRE cards and a net investment of 3000 PKR and 8 months I sat in the test. And passed it ( The moral being that if you have enough common sense as to distinguish a carrot from radish you can pass the test with solid preparation ) don’t fall for these iba grads and con artists.

Aced the interview and essay, My essay was “What are the consequences of Ultra nationalism in europe and thanks to Henry kissinger I somehow passed it , but just imagine any Matric student writing on it( These are the hard parts ) and so it commences and I started the program in evening .

Reality

At the time of Admission fees was 37500 PKR per course plus 100K in admission fees( I did my entire engineering in 200k), it felt like testicular pain paying it but the image of shining sun just above the hill was there so I paid it and so like 150 other participants with the same dream. Almost 50 % of MBA students were Engineers ( well aware of the salaries of Engineering graduates; it is not easy to pay the fees ).

I was appalled by the egregious quality of education in the evening program , Most of the teachers were from visiting faculty who were just interested in stacking up class hours so they could be paid more. Morever it sucked because there is no financial aid in the evening, but you moved along. Everyone was aware of the fact that this usury doesn’t translate to quality,it was just to purchase the brand equity of the iba name, and it is just horrific that all 150 students knew that, but somehow it got into the brain that this degree would be worth it even though I learn nothing at all besides textbook theory . And then corona came along.

Enter the saen zone

Just when cornona came , Dr. Farrukh Iqbal resigned, came along political parchi no 1 Dr Zaidi, The 1st thing He did was to remove the test restriction for all admissions ( so that the least eligibile people could come in, people who wouldn’t clear the diploma program now sit in the MBA class ) and then the fireworks on 4th of July began in jubilation, He also raised to fees to 51 K per course (IBA has 300 Million PKR in surplus ) – IBA is generally a great place to get your degree ( Given that your father pays for it , it is still one the best degree issuing institution – My critique is restriced to MBA program only and the prognosis of quality vs tuition )

It just baffles me that people still sit in the class learn nothing just for the sake on an MBA degree .

Right now in Karachi there is KSBL , the MBA costs around 2 Million PKR there but they have a batch size of less than 30. The jury is still out.

May be I digressed a bit, but I don’t think there would be an end to this cycle in the near future, as people look to advance their careers they will keep on falling for this fallacy. And it is a catch 22 situation, people think that lets get MBA to advance our careers and since all people are doing MBA there must be something credible in it, and it doesn’t surprise me when I see ads of Marketing Manager – MBA – 5 Years experience with 45 K salary.

Das ist alles.

Bro you don't learn anything from schools or colleges or universities, Period. You just pay them (or more correctly, your parents pay them) to get a worthless piece of paper that doesn't prove anything and as a bonus to destroy your mind, your creativity, your innate geniousness and to make you one of "them".

Even NASA scientist said that universities and schools butcher children minds. What exactly happens is that each child or atleast most of them are born geniouses. However it's in this society's nature that they can't tolerate when they see someone better or more correctly someone "different". So they try to make that guy like them. The situation is similar to a horse being forced to spend his entire life in a stable full of donkeys. The horse eats, drinks and even runs with the donkeys. This entirely butchers the horse's own unique traits and geniousness so much so that the horse starts thinking that he is the wrong or the odd one out.

Every child has a natural ability to adapt to his/her environemnt or the situation he is in. So if a child has the ability to read a book in 1 week, for example, by sending him to school rather than doing homeschooling, you are forcing the child to adapt to a slower rate of reading a book in 1 month, for e.g. And this happens naturally and subconsciously. And before you know it, parents have already butchered their children minds by their own hands, then they cry in the end "Hmara bacha parhta nae he, duffer he". Ab gaali na nikalwao munh se xD Plus another big disadvantage i.e. most geniouses born are introverted and there is a high chance of such kids being isolated or being bullied which further destroys them. Parents should be the ones nurturing their children and keeping a close eye on what naturaly traits they have rather than just sending your child to school like handing a letter over to the postman and forgetting about it.

In short, this system is a conspiracy designed by a donkey to make all the horses born think they are the odd ones out and become donkeys. Else the system would have been based on Equity or Justice rather than Equality. You shouldn't need to study any class at a rate that's "slower" or "faster" than yours. Exams for each class should be available each year and a student must have the option to give any number of exams in a single year. This means if I can pass 1-8 in 1 year then LET ME PASS.

There is a reason why most successful and genious people the history has seen were college dropouts. They understood that they were being toyed with.

Sorry for hijacking btw xD Mene bhi dil ke bharas nikalni thi zara XD

If MBA is compelled to have, how can you enjoy education / learning? I just couldn't comprehend it.

Beautifully written, given that you're a fellow engineer as myself. I reckon you're an avid reader.
Regarding the main topic of the blog, I have collected that most of the colleges here in Pak consider post-graduate students as a source of income, rather than students.
Have you completed the MBA? Do you consider your decision a wise one?

When I was starting e-commerce business back in 2012 & planning to expand my business, I joined BBA at KASBIT (i was not good in academic prior to that so it was a good option for me) in hope of learning business which would help me increase my income & I was disappointed, I realized that those business degrees are worthless & don't teach you anything about business at all. Practical applications of those degrees are little to none. By the time i I reached the 4th semester, I found various other ways of craving my business learning needs & here is how I planned to complete my degree because I had already spent 2 years of life & a lot of money.

1)Clear the courses which are not relevant to business (like stats, maths, etc)
2) Focused learning on business courses like Marketing, HR, Strategic Management, etc
3) Focusing on courses that are not business-related but make the overall personality, eg. Oral Communication, etc

Things worked out very well. Now I have competency in Communication, learned theoretical business foundations & also expanded my e-commerce business through Self Learning.

I would like to report an interesting incident here, I was in the fourth semester & joined some training & development courses from an Institute to improve my communication skills. IBA hired that institute to teach Communication to 7th semester BBA Students. Since I was affiliated with that institute, They called me to be part of the trainers to do the assessment. Read again... A 4th-semester student is assessing 7th-semester students of one of the renowned business institute called IBA lol

Before this incident I was planning to do MBA from IBA or iOBM After that I decided to skip MBA & now I am in the final semester student of Psychology at the University of Karachi. Paying a fraction of fees that I would have paid if I had gone for an MBA & learning from the Ph.D. teachers. Feeling satisfied from inside.

MBA has become a status symbol people through away Millions of rupees to IBA and similar Insitute & get a degree which helps them to feel superior (Its inferiority complex) & gets very little tangible benefits. In my opinion, The whole education system has been obsoleted & has very little application in real life, so it's better to save millions of rupees and go with self-education.

Unfortunately, i am still in the process of getting this degree and annihilating my savings, but there is no way out. There are no growth paths besides if you work in self perpetual incremental sales, procurement, or marketing. Just take a look at the shelves of imtiaz store, people are consuming like maniacs and manufacturing nothing here

Not sure about Pakistani market too much, however outside, if you have an executive MBA and MBA in general, you definitely have an edge in the job market if you go for production or operations related job.
Its naturally not the only thing, but it does show to majority of employers that you have an advanced understanding of financial markets and " how businesses operate"

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.
