We all have at some point in time debated the usefulness of the 100-point (0.1-10.0) review scale adopted by major websites and publications. More often that not, this review scale produces redundant results that help little while making the all important purchase decision. What is the difference between say, 8.1 and 8.3? why should we even care and most importantly, are these reviewers even qualified enough to put a number on a game. I respect differences of opinion as long as opinions are coming from an informed source. Ignorance cannot be championed as an opinion. The objective of reviews, imho, should be to help the consumer in decision making rather than rating games against precedents and unrelated standards.
Long story short, the team behind Project Aurora has long been considering implementing a new review scale made especially for the Pakistani gamer. Our market is very unique when you consider how much we pay for games. Our decisions are usually quicker since the financial outlay is so minimal and word of mouth plays a stronger role than review scores. It seems time is the only barrier we encounter.
Keeping that in mind, Pakgamers has decided to implement a new review scale.
We will now rate games using traffic lights. The scale should be interpreted as follows.
RED
Avoid, this game is not worth your time and money.
YELLOW
Caveat emptor
·Fans of the genre or series will dig straight in but recycled content and lack of innovation while compared to competitors will limit enjoyment of a newcomer
·A solid game that delivers hours of enjoyment but falls just short in some areas.
GREEN
A must have, we strongly recommend this game.
We intend the ratings to complement the content of reviews rather than substitute it.
