Wow Chhowni
Looks like something out of an anime. Kendra would be a more appropriate name. The original Ken is supposed to have disheveled blonde hair and Caucasian features.

True. And here's the confirmation on that front.

Earlier today, IGN sat down with Capcom's director of marketing and eSports, Matt Dahlgren, over at San Diego Comic-Con to discuss the latest addition to the roster and more.

During the interview, Dahlgren confirmed something that many of us have been wondering about for some time now: classic costumes. When asked if we'll eventually see an option to equip our characters with their retro digs, the Capcom representative had this to say.

"Of course! I mean, if you look at what happened with Street Fighter 4, there's tons of variety in terms of costumes," Dahlgren said. "We'll definitely be doing that in the long run."

Specifically addressing those who may not be as enthusiastic about Ken's new look as others, he continued, "those that want a classic Ken, I'm sure it'll be in the pipeline at some point."
Capcom confirms classic costumes in Street Fighter 5 will become available down the road

I hate this shit man. Why they keep under powering Ryu? They are ruining of the main characters. Im not a Ryu player but I started the SF journey with Ryu like most people. In-fact I like Ken mixups more than Ryu and usually go with Ken. But they are effing with the main character. C'mon

what

how does it look like ryu is nerfed? his v-skill and v-trigger are absolutely amazing for defense and offense. he's comparable to his SF3 incarnation since he's got denjin hadoken setups again.

[h=2]Street Fighter 5's DLC characters can be earned for free through gameplay[/h]

With next year's Street Fighter 5, Capcom is changing the way it rolls out updates to the core game and adds new characters. Capcom says players will get balance updates and system adjustments for free, and that they won't have to pay up to add post-launch characters to the game.
Instead, players will be able to earn DLC characters just by playing the game.

The initial release of Street Fighter 5 is the only disc players will ever need to own, Capcom's Peter "Combofiend" Rosas said in a PlayStation Blog post.
"Street Fighter 5 will be the first iteration in the franchise where it is possible for dedicated players to earn all gameplay related content (such as characters) for free, simply by playing the game," Rosas said. "Long gone are the days of forced Super and Ultra upgrades! Enjoy free balance updates as soon as they become available, and find and choose the post-launch characters that you want to get."
Rosas confirmed that Street Fighter 5's launch roster will consist of 16 fighters, four of which are new to the series. To date, Capcom has officially confirmed seven — Ryu, Ken, Chun-li, Charlie Nash, M. Bison, Birdie and Cammy — and teased an eighth.
According to Rosas' post it sounds like Capcom plans on issuing more frequent updates to the game to keep the player base active, and letting players pick and choose which new characters they'd like to purchase.
"Looking back on the Street Fighter 4 series, we had always released bundles of content all at once, like with Super Street Fighter 4 and Ultra Street Fighter 4," Rosas said. "While these one-time updates did revive interest in the series every few years, it was difficult to keep players engaged for long periods of time unless they were competitive."

Street Fighter 5 will feature two types of in-game currency: Fight Money, which players can earn by playing the game, and Zenny, which can be purchased with real money. Both can be used to purchase new content, like add-on characters.
Capcom will release Street Fighter 5 for PlayStation 4 and Windows PC next year. A beta version of Street Fighter 5 for PS4, which can be accessed by pre-ordering the fighting game, will go live July 23.

With the news coming that it is some sort of grindfest to unloch characters.

I am expecting it to be similar to Killer Instinct style season shit.

Sony if you moneyhatted, atleast make it a full experience like SF4 and not shitty grinfest with 8-10 characters at launch.

There are 16 characters at launch, a pretty decent number and this style of content unlocking is great since it keeps people coming back for more and you don't even need to pay for it. I'm not really seeing any downsides here.

Come on Golden Coin, you can't unlock characters in Killer Instinct for free. The F2P version just keeps rotating characters for you to pick each week. You can only play with one character at a given time. In order to play with the whole lineup, you have to purchase the paid version.

In SFV, you get 16 characters for $60. Future characters can be acquired through gameplay. Seems very fair to me.

lol a majority of the game's funding is coming from Capcom. Sony spent some money to eliminate the Xbox One from the equation.

The model seems similar to Killer Instinct with seasonal roster updates.

The last major fighting title that came with 16 fighters was KOF 15 or something and that crashed and burned.

I hope there is proper Arcade mode and not gimmick laden shitfest that was SFvT was.

I dont know man. With Capcom you can expect any kind of stupid dlcs and microtransactions.

I like tradational style fighting game with huge line up at launch.

Killer Instinct and Tekken Revolution like minimum rosters are not fun.

Skullgirls and Yatagarasu have around 12 or so characters each, the games are still doing fairly well.

I don't really think fighting games need huge rosters, look at SF x T, it had so many characters I don't think I even used a quarter of them.

You seen their panel? they want to get rid of different versions of the same game ala Super Street Fighter and Ultra Street Fighter, etc. This initiative makes it seem like Capcom is evolving into a better company. Though it does remain to be seen how heavy the grind is for the "Fight money" but I'll stay positive until the game actually comes out or more information comes out. :p

If you add in all the DLC characters that price goes up to $45.

I understand where you're coming from with the price, but Capcom has said that they will keep the game alive with constant updates and new characters.

[h=2]Street Fighter 5 gets its first all-new character (update)[/h]

Capcom revealed an all-new fighter for Street Fighter 5 at Evo 2015, Necalli, who appears to be a grappler with some wild hair. He's the first original character confirmed for next year's fighting game.
Necalli's attacks appear to consist of grabs, dive kicks and fast claw slashes, and his V-trigger power move unleashes the full power of his long, flowing locks — and presumably buffs his other attacks.

Update: Here's Capcom's official description of Necalli.
Possessing a wide variety of savage and close range attacks, all of Necalli's moves have been forged through the heat of battle to ensure he's inflicting maximum pain upon his opponents. Making full use of the Battle System mechanics, Necalli's V-Skill allows him to pound the ground with both fists, creating an explosion that damages the enemy whereas the powerful V-Trigger allows him to channel a mysterious energy that changes his hair colour and alters his personality for a short period of time. Capcom will be revealing more information on Necalli's origin and storyline in the coming months so stay tuned for more details.
At the Evo championship series this weekend, Capcom announced that Street Fighter 5 will ship with a roster of 16 characters, four of which will be completely new to the series. The company also announced that all post-release characters can be earned for free by playing the game or purchased individually with real-world money.
Street Fighter 5 will be released for PlayStation 4 and Windows PC in 2016.
