can someone suggest a good DNS for stormfiber ? for seamless internet browsing
I personally use Google DNS (I'm not on SF).

It's because they support EDNS (so you get more location-specific responses), and the average response time of their DNS is faster.

There are two things to this:

you <--> server ping <--> server response time.

Cloudflare has centers in Pakistan so the server ping will be <5ms (in normal situations) but their DNS server responds late, and doesn't give IPs of CDNs that are closer to us.

Google's DNS servers ping is higher (40ms or so, if you're in Pindi/Isb) but the response time - even for the most obscure DNS requests - is way faster.

Overall, when you add the two numbers together, Google's is still faster AND relevant.

Is there any specific portal/website especially for stormfiber users only to watch seasons or TV channels and download or stream movies? I knew about ebravo but both the app and the website isn't working since a few days, if anybody knows about what's going on with ebravo please let me know.

Can anybody please let me know what has happened to ebravo site and app since it's not working for around 20 days now, is there a new site now like ebravo by cybernet or is there any other alternative to it?

PEACE cable system is now fully operational, with the majority of Cybernet's (StormFiber) traffic flowing through it. Another submarine cable has been added to Pakistan's internet backhaul, reducing dependency on PTCL and Transworld.

Observing the lowest optimal latency to Singapore servers from Karachi, around 75 ms. In Europe, it's approximately 100 ms (via Marseille, France).

FINALLY!
Can you share the routing as well, please?

Routing to Google DNS 8.8.8.8 (CDN)
Routing to en.wikipedia.org (CDN)
Routing to mail.yahoo.com (CDN)
Routing to o2.co.uk (UK) (may or may not time out - ping works)
Routing to bell.ca (Canada) (it will time out)
Routing to verizon.net

I know these are quite a bit to ask, but thank you in advance! I don't want to bug you with more, but do you see that all of the traffic seems to be routed through Peace exclusively, or are they using PIE or TW as well?

And I see you're in Karachi - I don't know about the other cities, so other SF users in other cities (it's not in my part of Rawalpindi), feel free to jump in/compare.

All through PEACE cable now, no PIE or tw1 in between. Bandwidth allocation for major cities has been exclusively transitioned to PEACE. Cybernet now only relies on PTCL for bandwidth as a backup in the event of sudden outages or disruptions. It's been a year since they stopped acquiring bandwidth from Transworld as well.

I know the Imtiaz in Pindi uses Cybernet and they routed everything through PIE - I'll see if I can go there and test.

These pings look decent - I'm adding ~20ms extra for Pindi/Islamabad, which make it almost as good as TW (and in some cases, even better than TW), and definitely better than PTCL.

Now I hope it doesn't get bogged down with PTA's "cleansing" activities to keep the country paak and imaandaar...

Hello,
Anyone knows when will stormfiber fix local pings. All internet is being routed through karachi , i think, adding a latency of 20ms to local speedtest servers.
Some speedtest servers like jazz are getting 200+ pings and generally local routing to alot of servers like on peshawar PTCL or others are getting >150 ms
Can they be somehow informed of this? so we can get back to good good local latencies

Hello again,

Stormfiber offers ipv6. I had some services which i needed to access from outside my home network, so i had static ip. I switched my services over to ipv6 and figured i dont need the static ip anymore and removed it from my stormfiber package.
However , after removing the static ip, i noticed that all my ipv6 ports are getting firewalled ( presumably by SF).
I have not yet subscribed again to static ip which would confirm my suspicion that they are asking for money to unfirewall ipv6, which completely defeats the purpose of having end to end connectivity with ipv6 in the first place

However , im not sure and stormfibers customer support is clueless. Is this some misconfiguration that i am facing or can other people open their ports on ipv6?

Thanks

Have you tried services like Dyn DNS or No IP (or other dynamic DNS services)? Some of them are free, and that MIGHT help you.

Hi, I'm also from Peshawar and we have been getting terrible pings in games. I usually play on the dubai server and I have been trying to communicate with Stormfiber but they claim that there is no issue at their end. What can I do now.

PS 5 Pro announced today. While I was impressed with the value - 4K at 60 FPS in quality mode for recent games, the price is too high. PS4 Pro cost just $399 at launch. The price of the PS5 Pro version seems to show Sony is returning to its haughty attitude of the PS3 era. I think the console with a disk drive will cost $1000-$1200 in Pakistan. For most, PC gaming onlyis increasingly becoming a more attractive proposition.

They could have shipped all these SP sequels on PC as well. But they wanted a piece of the PC market AND the live service market at the same time. I think that turned out a bit too much for them.

Aside from this, Sony and PS5 could have been great even with sequels to existing games like Ghost of Tsushima, Uncharted, GOW, TLOU, Infamous, LBP/Sackboy, maybe dead ones like Resistance, Jak, etc. It seems that they've been trying to focus on the live service model instead at the cost of SP games and exclusivity. It hasn't worked out well (except for Helldivers 2) and most of this gen is over. I don't see the point of this divergence from their established brand and strategy, especially at the cost of new SP games, few of which will now see the light of day this gen.

Sure, big shots like RDR2 and Elden Ring are also great and I love them as much as the next person but at some level, I feel like I can get something close to that in movies and TV. There's something unique about great platformers in terms of stress-free/joyful interactivity and immersion that a heavy story or challenging gameplay doesn't have. Again, the latter is great too but the former more accurately defines gaming for me.

Astro Bot will redeem PS5 for me. Ratchet and Astro Playroom did it as well. I may have a preference for platformers but this kind of pure fun games is what gaming started out as and what remains the most enjoyable part of it for me.

Yeah, Concord & Suicide Squad were utter failures due to being woke as hell. These western devs keep digging their own graves. They don't get the message that the masses don't want woke nonsense in games (or any other entertainment medium for that matter). Japanese games are less woke than American ones, but they're still not completely woke-free because they mostly target American audience. If you want truly unwoke content, try Chinese & Korean games. Black Myth: Wukong & Steller Blade are two of the biggest hits in gaming recently, and they came from China & Korea respectively. They're all the rage these days & completely free from this woke nonsense. I reckon American studios have no future in gaming unless they change their ways. Asian studios on the other hand are on the path to success. Not only is this great for gamers in general. It is also great for us Asians.

Also, it's not just Capcom. Almost all Japanese devs are doing a stellar job and keeping the gaming world alive - FromSoft, Namco, and Nintendo. American/European developers have turned a blind eye to what gamers want and solely focus on squeezing maximum amount from gamers. They suck!

I believe Sony America should shut down and converted to Sony Japan. Then we can expect good quality games and not woke propaganda. One of the reasons for failure of Concord as per Reddit comments is woke/gay characters with they/them pronouns. Same is the reason Overwatch 2 has been a failure - they are targeting the wrong target market.

There are like 3 years left for Ps5 and Series consoles but they are yet to deliver anything memorable. I think only company that is really going decent is Capcom.
