Yes that is what it means.

For those unable to ping to websites via ICMP, you can use Paping (https://code.google.com/archive/p/paping/). Look for the Downloads section on the left side. And if you place it in your C:\Windows folder, it'll be easily accessible from anywhere in Command Prompt.

I'm on PTCL, and still can't ping Stormfiber's DNS server. Speaking of which, why don't you use a third party server instead of the local ISP's server?

OpenDNS or Google (only because OpenDNS on Transworld isn't being routed to their Middle East node, and can sometimes inject DNS requests to block malware etc. But otherwise, you're good with both)m

Assalamalikum everyone, StormFiber just went live in my block and I currently have PTCL VDSL 25mbps, speed is solid but I can't watch Twitch live streams in HD and PIE routing gets screwed up every 2-3 months usually and my connection randomly goes down for like a day or 2 every few months for no damn reason. So before I switch I have a few questions:-

1- I have heard that they use CGNAT so do they provide any solutions for gamers?
2- What is the overall service consistency like? Do you ever face slow downloads during peak hours?
3- Can they switch you to TW upon request because recently I have heard that they don't do that anymore and all their customers are on PIE and one of my friends on SF also faced high ping issue the same day I did with PTCL.
4- Overall customer support? Do they understand routing issues because PTCL support doesn't even after numerous complaints.

What DNS servers do you guys use with Stormfiber? Cloudflare DNS gives 1-2ms ping but browsing seems slower than Google's (40ms).

Do you know how fast the eyelids blink? 100ms.

I'm sure anything that gives you a response within the blink of an eye will be fast.

That said, while Cloudflare gives me <5ms and Google gives me around 50ms (I'm in Pindi, and not on SF but PTCL), Google's is unequivocally faster overall. Even OpenDNS is faster (if you manage to get patched through to their Dubai servers) but I don't use them because there's no easy way to turn off website filtering.

And secondly, Google tends to (not always) give you IPs which are closer to Pakistan. Cloudflare prefers giving IPs of American-origin IPs (this is a problem specifically with Akamai, which depends on location data and gives you a specific IP depending on which DNS server the request is coming from).

Someone please? I wanna know that if its worth it switching to from PTCL VDSL and I mainly want it for downloading, streaming and playing Rainbow 6.

1. Use static IP. That fixes the NAT Type issue. You can also DMZ your console/portforward for fully open ports. Static IP costs about 200-300rs a month, but I'm not sure about their availability.

2. Very rarely the speed drops about 2-3mbps.

3. No, Storm doesn't support TW in Lahore and other cities.

4. Customer support is amazing. Sometimes they don't pick up the helpline but they reply to emails within the hour.

Overall I say you should switch to Storm anyways due to consistent routing and speeds. And it's fiber, so there's that. Youtube streams good on 1080p but therr has been buffering on Twitch for me recently so I don't know about that.

And I wanted to ask that how much were the installation charges for you? I just want their internet service (20mb package) and on their site they have mentioned that installation charges can either be paid on monthly basis or we can pay the full one time cost.

I got 10MBPS Storm + TV + Phone for total 12k and 3 months free, like 2 years ago. Don't really know the rates now.

Can't ping any of these IPs. All of them are 100% loss.

Twitch is buffering quite a lot, even at 160p. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing? It's very annoying.

Just traceroute them using the tracert command in CMD they are showing 100% loss due to servers firewall security. Once you start getting constant request timed out, stop the trace and take screenshot and post results here.

Getting request timed out in the beginning. No IP shows up.
