Sony X75F vs TCL C6 (55")

Hi Everyone,

I am currently undergoing a dilemma and I would appreciate your help. I have to buy a 55" TV for my lounge and before you guys give any suggestions, I would like to tell you that I have narrowed down my choice to two models already :-

1. Sony X75F ( https://www.sony.com/pk/electronics/televisions/x7500f-series)
2. TCL C6

I have been a Sony Bravia user since 2006 and have purchased 3 models. In terms of picture quality, I would say that the Bravia Engine has been impressive.

Putting that aside, I would like your input. I will be using my TV primarily for my PS4 (Slim) and Netflix/Internet Streaming Services. Apart from the price point, which TV is better and why? How's the colour saturation on TCL?

P.S. C6 has backlight dimming but it's brightness is only 450 nits. Does that make a lot of difference?

The C6 is plenty bright, that's not an issue. The only issue could be edgelit bleeding in the C6, don't know if it's an issue with the Sony as well, if the Sony is in the same price range then it'll probably have that issue as well. On paper the Sony looks like a solid option as well, except there might be quite a price difference.

What do you mean by Edgelit bleeding? :flame:

X75F is 145K and TCL C6 is 125K. So it is not in the same price range, plus Sony is not offering a sound-bar like TCL so there's that side of the story too. So the display made has to be better than TCL, no?

I am using TCL C6 for few months now
Bought it for 110k
No bleeding
Black isn't the best but to get best black you will have to go beyond with budget
Brightness is actually a lot I watch at 60% imagine 1000 will do to your eyes
TV is beautiful speaker is awesome
I couldn't tell much difference with same budgeted Sony and Samsung
Samsung 8000 the new model is better then TCL in HDR. Everything else you won't feel difference once you purchased a TV
4k and HDR works well with movies Xbox ps4 pro
TCL is using Samsung PANELS untill there own unit start production

Basically backlight bleeding issues, since the C6 backlight is Edge LED, in 55" size the X75F backlight is Direct LED whatever that means, it's not Edge LED though.

The C7 has 4 drivers in the integrated sound-bar, but it's still no match for proper dedicated soundbar. The sony has 2 10w drivers. The TCL wins on looks though.

Dear you can buy Samsung NU8000 from an authorized distributor for 140K, that the best thing under QLED or OLED. TCL C6 colors arent on par with Sony X75F or Samsung 8 series. even Hisense has better colors and feels more snappy. Please do an head to head comparison on any display outlet before buying.

Audio & Video has to be auditioned to notice the difference coz everyone has their own opinion about it and they would all be correct. So I would suggest you go to a shop which has both the brands/models and request them to put these 2 TVs side by side with same video input and decide for yourself. I have done this with my purchases and for one of my relatives who asked me to make this decision for him, but when he saw the 3 TVs that he couldn't decide between, it was an instant decision for him which TV he wanted. Don't hesitate to make this request, for the amount of money you are going to spend, the shop owners are more than happy to oblige.

IMHO I would compare Sony X75F with Samsung NU8000, Hisense U7A and TCL P8S. C6 is a 2 years old model, I would suggest you take a look at P8S if you are considering TCL.

Picture quality wise tcl is aweful I have a Samsung ks8000 for gaming which is probably 3+ year old model and also have a p8 for cable viewing in other house , the picture quality in games is night and day , I don't know about the specific sony model here but for my 2 cents avoid tcl

I have used TCL C6 extensively now. The TV works well & does everything as it’s supposed to. Plus I have some smart home stuff, so I control it with my tv through Google assistant. Picture is plenty bright, hdr works fine. The soundbar is plenty loud for daily useage so I don’t see myself buying any soundbar anytime soon. The TV looks much better than competitor in terms of looks.

Now the cons:

1. The colour reproduction in certain scenes is a bit unnatural at times.
2. Android UI is slow

Now my experience with NU8000 has been excellent. No complaints except for two things the fact that there is no google assistant & bixby is a disappointment. Secondly, the speakers are weak especially when compared to TCL C6. The tv HDR performance is impressive in gaming.

However, the best thing you can do is go to the market have a look at them side by side. To make the best decision TCL C6 is for around 118k for 55 & 169 for 65. NU8000 is for around 145-150 but probably won’t be very easy to find.
