Sony PlayStation 5 : The Next Gen Begins

PS5 Release Date, PS5 Games, PS5 Power vs Xbox One X, PS5 Price Speculation - All the PS5 Info lets discuss

Here are all the rumors and speculation surrounding the PS5, including a potential PS5 release date, power, and launch games of Sony's inevitable PS5. Is the PS5 releasing in 2019?

What we Want From the PS5 Speculation aside, what would we ideally want from the PS5? Backwards compatibility for PS4 games would be brilliant, simply because you'd be able to carry over classics like the Shadow of the Colossus remake to the next console generation. We've seen how well Microsoft is handling backwards compatibility with its Xbox One consoles (including getting amazing results updating Xbox 360 games to run in 4K on Xbox One X), and something similar on PS5 would be great.

In terms of pure power, the PlayStation 5 has to significantly exceed the power of the Xbox One X. This means featuring more games running in 4K at 60FPS. If the PS5 can deliver about 10 TF of power we'd be happy, as this would allow devs to create games that look a generation ahead of what we've got now.

But what would the dream launch lineup be for the PS5? Death Stranding and The Last of Us: Part 2 are hugely anticipated blockbuster games, with the former especially looking to push the performance of whatever system it's on to the very limit. We've also mentioned Ghost of Tsushima and a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, and the latter would be the perfect way to kick off a new console cycle from Sony.

^late 2019 release wouldn't be out of the question regardless of that imo. Days Gone in Q1, TLOU in Q2, Ghost of Tsushima in Q3/4 with all three of them being ported over to PS5 as well. Hell, Ghost of Tsushima could end up being a PS5 launch title.

They might tease or reveal it next year but certainly no release in 2019!
There is plenty left in the 4th yet.

Because there isn't game library to support the console that's why console announcements are getting boring, Remember the ps2 era when ps2 had thousands of game support from America, Europe and Japan.
I would disagree...Ps4 has a fantastic exclusive library - at least for the types of games I like to play

I meant overall games library like psi ops, The Suffering, Onimusha, jak and daxter, Bully etc etc. It was said that Ps4 will bring back greatness of ps2 through exclusives which never happened

Gonna have to disagree. The last few years have been fantastic for PS4 exclusive games (Fully exclusive, or console only).

Also Psi Ops and Suffering are mediocre games at best, Onimusha is OK at best and Bully is just a unique concept, other R* games are much better in terms of production and design. RDR2 is releasing in a few months.

3rd party exclusivity is pretty much dead nowadays, with publishers looking to make more money off of their investment. Only exceptions that come to mind are Persona and Yakuza, both of which are Sega franchises. At some point in time, they'll probably go multiplatform as well.

The PS5 may or may not see release in Fall 2019. It all depends on whether the chip maker is capable of meeting Sony's required specifications.

[h=1]Rumor Patrol: PlayStation 5 Specs & Details Leaked[/h]

Although it is only speculation at this point, there are a lot of rumors flying around about the upcoming PlayStation 5 and the next generation of video game consoles. If one new rumor proves true, though, the specs for the PS5 are highly impressive.
The rumor comes via a site called SemiAccurate, which has some credibility, thanks to previously correct leaked information about the Nintendo Switch and the PS4. The site claims that Sony will continue working with AMD products, with the PS5 using AMD Navi for graphics and the AMC Zen for its CPU. It also confirmed rumors that Sony has already released devkits to some developers, which could mean that the new console will arrive sooner than anyone ever imagined. Although 2019 is the release year most might consider, the site does not rule out a 2018 release based on just how many devkits are now out there in the wild. The PS5 could also have “VR Goodies” offered as part of its features, meaning that it would work seamlessly with PlayStation VR.

According to PlayStation Universe, SemiAccurate is not a site that just makes things up and puts it on the Internet. The site has leaked information about consoles before and that information proved true later on. It also seems to further confirm the previous rumors that surfaced about a month ago about devkits going out. Those rumors came from Marcus Sellars, another reliable source of leaked information. Sony also recently applied for a patent for backwards technology compatibility, which would likely be for a new console, rather than for an existing one. However, Sony still consistently states that gamers should not expect an announcement about the PS5 anytime soon. So what gives?

Gaming consoles are hot commodities right now, with the current generation being the fastest selling in history. Both the Xbox One and the PS4 released in 2013, with Sony following that up with PlayStation VR and the upgraded PS4 Pro in 2016. The company also recently dropped the price of PlayStation VR to $300: was this in anticipation of getting more VR units out the door and ready for the next generation of PS consoles?
With these new leak specs and more buzz out there about the PS5, only one question remains: are video gamers and developers ready for the next generation of consoles? Consoles are not cheap and the current generation has just recently found its niche. Also, video game developers still seem slowed down in creating games for this generation of machines, with many games getting delayed, while others get released with multiple glitches and bugs. Sure, the PS5 might arrive soon, but does anyone really want it to?

I can say this literally about ANYTHING.

But actually in case of of a console, on which you spend money once every 6/7 years, it makes more sense - rather than a PC component - how does getting decent specs JUST RAM is equal to the price of PlayStation, and forget about the Graphics card...A low-mid level card is more expensive than a PS4 ...this insanity has to end

Just slight improvement over what we have today.
hardware wise, the consoles are pushing toward a unified market so Its kind of understandable.

Sure it might be a needed upgrade.
But then again, the quality of games have not been great lately.
PS4 have some great handful of games which are worth playing.

but the rest of the games in general, are not so memorable anymore. Greed has overrun the industry and good games come rarely.
Which is the main reason why the PS4/XBOX1 seemed mediocre at best during its run.

Lets just wait and see whats up in the future.

AAA titles are quite rare these days , i doubt the current gen games even push the limits of the existing hardware to its limit , lets see how things fly
