Sony PlayStation 5 : Play Has No Limits

PS5 Release Date, PS5 Games, PS5 Power vs Xbox One X, PS5 Price Speculation - All the PS5 Info lets discuss

Here are all the rumors and speculation surrounding the PS5, including a potential PS5 release date, power, and launch games of Sony's inevitable PS5. Is the PS5 releasing in 2019?

What we Want From the PS5 Speculation aside, what would we ideally want from the PS5? Backwards compatibility for PS4 games would be brilliant, simply because you'd be able to carry over classics like the Shadow of the Colossus remake to the next console generation. We've seen how well Microsoft is handling backwards compatibility with its Xbox One consoles (including getting amazing results updating Xbox 360 games to run in 4K on Xbox One X), and something similar on PS5 would be great.

In terms of pure power, the PlayStation 5 has to significantly exceed the power of the Xbox One X. This means featuring more games running in 4K at 60FPS. If the PS5 can deliver about 10 TF of power we'd be happy, as this would allow devs to create games that look a generation ahead of what we've got now.

But what would the dream launch lineup be for the PS5? Death Stranding and The Last of Us: Part 2 are hugely anticipated blockbuster games, with the former especially looking to push the performance of whatever system it's on to the very limit. We've also mentioned Ghost of Tsushima and a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, and the latter would be the perfect way to kick off a new console cycle from Sony.

All 1st parties in the collection are 60 fps for the ps5, save for uc 4!

It is meant for the ps5, to enhance the previous experience, wont make sense to enable it for the ps4 guys..

I mean, "no longer seeing sales potential" doesn't even make sense. The PS+ collection is only a thing for PS5 owners, not PS4. Its a promotional offer to get new PS5 customers to sign up for Plus. Doesn't mean every PS5 owner gets the collection with their console for free. Even if they did that, the collection wouldn't be free for current PS4 owners (let alone the fact that you have to have a PS+ sub in the first place).
The option is available to redeem the codes via someone else's PS5. I too have redeemed the collection for some of the "people I speak to 🤣" who are Plus subscriber but were unable to find a PS5. The collection isn't redeemable once per console, so it's clearly not an issue. Moreover, Days Gone was also offered as a regular PS Plus freebie to PS4 owners last month.

Offering games to 50 Million PS Plus subscribers (almost 45% of the user base) means that Sony knows they've reached their sales potential. They have access to sales data. The PS Plus collection continues to be available to an increasing number of PS5 owners and there's no indication regarding whether it'll be removed/replaced. Also, 87% of PS5 owners are PS Plus subscribers.

Even in the case of "stay at home" program, such limited time freebies doesn't mean the sales potential ends. Giving away Ratchet was also a way to promote its sequel. Same goes for HZD and promoting its sequel. The games are not free anymore.
lol "limited time" freebies were available for almost an entire month. During this period, it's expected that most if not all who were interested in these games would've redeemed them. The announcement was well-advertised.

Not an issue? Until Sony started banning accounts I guess :ROFLMAO:

Offering games to 50 Million PS Plus subscribers (almost 45% of the user base) means that Sony knows they've reached their sales potential. They have access to sales data.
With access to that data, Sony knows how many of the 42% PS+ subscribers already have the game. That's one approach to attract new people to the service while offering a freebie to millions of people who already have it :ROFLMAO:

73 million users (~60% of the PS4 userbase) aren't even subbed to PS+ and never got the PS+ games. Pretty sad sales potential if Sony thinks those people won't buy their IPs 🤷‍♂️

During this period, it's expected that most if not all who were interested in these games would've redeemed them. The announcement was well-advertised.
lol @ expected. Curiously there isn't even any option to auto-redeem the monthly PS+ games so people even miss out on those. I'm sure Sony has access to that data as well lol

A simple case of "abuses will lead to ban". Don't abuse the system and make a business out of it I guess lol. I didn't get banned 🤷‍♂️

Yes, surely all 48 Million PS Plus subscribers had already bought Days Gone prior to it being last month's freebie 🤣

73 million users (~60% of the PS4 userbase) aren't even subbed to PS+ and never got the PS+ games. Pretty sad sales potential if Sony thinks those people won't buy their IPs 🤷‍♂️
Did you buy 5 Million PS4s this month? 🤣 Last I checked, the PS4's LTD sales are ~116 Million. That makes it 42% of the PS4 user base that's subscribed to Plus vs 58% that isn't. Seems like a good look 🤜

lol @ expected. Curiously there isn't even any option to auto-redeem the monthly PS+ games so people even miss out on those. I'm sure Sony has access to that data as well lol
Subscribes to a service, can't be bothered to take a minute to redeem freebies each month. That's one approach 😄

75% of PS Plus subscribers are satisfied with a score of 8 or higher on a scale of 1 to 10. I think they're doing just fine lol.

So we're down from "almost 45% " to 42% but my ~60% estimate from 58% was something you had an issue with? That's one approach. 😂

It says it all when a Sony fan on this forum didn't pay a penny for Sony's service in its lifetime but competitors convince them to get subbed for 3 years right away. Not a good look for Sony.

PSB: [How does] PC fit into the worldview of PlayStation Studios moving forward?

Hermen: We’re still early on in our planning for PC. And Horizon Zero Dawn has been very successful. I think it shows there’s an appetite from gamers outside the PlayStation ecosystem to experience the amazing portfolio of games that PlayStation fans have enjoyed for years.

But I want to emphasize that PlayStation will remain the best place to play our PlayStation Studios titles at launch. But we do value PC gamers, and we’ll continue to look at the right times to launch each game. Bend Studio just released the PC version of Days Gone on May 18. So that’s about two years after the PS4 release.

And I hope that a new set of fans can and will enjoy that title. And that’s the goal — we want to reach new gamers who haven’t yet experienced the great stories, characters, and worlds that we’ve built. Releasing games on PC will not come ever at the expense of building an exciting lineup of great console games.

One thing is clear, if they release PS5 games on PC two years after their launch on the system, then, the 'PS5 Pro/mid-gen refresh' becomes irrelevant!

For now, we have confirmed PS4 & cross-gen games. PS5 only games aren't far behind, I guess.

Also, two years is a lot of time. Good for those who can wait. Jisko khelna hoga wo PS5 pe khel lega.

Makes sense.

For all the posts from Reset Era 'brothers' that get shared here, here's one that's actually worth sharing, and coming from an actual developer rather than forum dwellers who often defend cross-gen with remarks like "but games are scalable, deal with it hehe" 🤣

Well yeah, it is a known fact that multi platform games will always be held back by the weakest platform.

We won't see PS5's true potential in cross-gen games!

Anyone who believes otherwise deserves a jooto ka haar!

so older gen shipping is holding next gen back work..porting to older gen requires significant amount of effort. I am talking ~ more than 3 million dollars worth of investment in modern AAA budgets (~ 30million plus)
This money, time and effort that can be spent in polishing, improving and expanding the game they are developing right now.

I am saying this as this was a super heated debate in one of my ex companies aswell.

The 'botttom-line" and non-strategic reasoning comes down to their is money on the table with the vast number of PS4s and Xboxs currently alive out there, and my argument is if this investment in polish makes a 75 Meta game, push it over 80+ or 80+ game into 85+ Meta, how many more copies does that sell(~ preassuming enough next gen hardware availability is there), and if those games become "console pushers" type of games

CerebralTiger doesn't even understand the posts he quoting. Why am I not surprised? 😂

The person who champions Breadth of the Wild as his game of the generation, a game designed for Wii U, over anything released on more powerful hardware, is concerned about cross gen games? Hilarious. Ask BoTW developers what was holding them back 😂

I've said this many times that new generation doesn't hit its stride until the later half of the console cycle. Thats when you start seeing the true potential of the hardware in all forms. No need to be angry at others if you chose to be an early adopter expecting things to be different lol.

Bad example lol. Not surprised that Necrokiller still didn't understand 🤣

BOTW was in development for a long time as a Wii U title first and foremost. Nintendo announced the game for the Wii U long before they even announced the Switch lol. It only got a Switch port because its release aligned with the console's launch. Totally different scenario.

Everything Nintendo has released since then has been Switch-only.
