Sony PlayStation 5 : Play Has No Limits

PS5 Release Date, PS5 Games, PS5 Power vs Xbox One X, PS5 Price Speculation - All the PS5 Info lets discuss

Here are all the rumors and speculation surrounding the PS5, including a potential PS5 release date, power, and launch games of Sony's inevitable PS5. Is the PS5 releasing in 2019?

What we Want From the PS5 Speculation aside, what would we ideally want from the PS5? Backwards compatibility for PS4 games would be brilliant, simply because you'd be able to carry over classics like the Shadow of the Colossus remake to the next console generation. We've seen how well Microsoft is handling backwards compatibility with its Xbox One consoles (including getting amazing results updating Xbox 360 games to run in 4K on Xbox One X), and something similar on PS5 would be great.

In terms of pure power, the PlayStation 5 has to significantly exceed the power of the Xbox One X. This means featuring more games running in 4K at 60FPS. If the PS5 can deliver about 10 TF of power we'd be happy, as this would allow devs to create games that look a generation ahead of what we've got now.

But what would the dream launch lineup be for the PS5? Death Stranding and The Last of Us: Part 2 are hugely anticipated blockbuster games, with the former especially looking to push the performance of whatever system it's on to the very limit. We've also mentioned Ghost of Tsushima and a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, and the latter would be the perfect way to kick off a new console cycle from Sony.

Asymmetrical design can look good as well. Its just that this one does not.

Infact, it seems like the disc version looks less terrible horizontally, while vertically its the other way around.

That's the problem, it won't be able to fit in many people's cabinets :p
yar console hai, 80's ka stereo set nahi :p

unless you have multiple other consoles in the same space, it should fit under any standard TV without much hassle :p

so one this is clear, sony is being very VERY safe here by treading lightly and following suit of MS yes. now sony is doing the xbox smart delivery thing with their BC thing as well

[h=1]PS4 Games Might Be Free On PS5 For Those Who Already Own Them[/h]

Sony will support publishers offering free PS5 upgrades of their games to those who own the PS4 version, similar to Xbox's Smart Delivery.

  • Sony will allow PlayStation 5 games to be offered to owners of their PlayStation 4 version for free, if third-party publishers and developers are willing to opt in. After Sony finally revealed what their upcoming console will look like, along with some of the games coming early within its life cycle, details about its features and quirks are slowly being unearthed. So far, it's known that its extremely large size is mostly for cooling purposes, it will have cool special editions, and it comes with free game already downloaded. Other important questions are still left unanswered, such as the actual release date and price, although Sony claims that neither of these will be affected by the pandemic.

Another feature that has yet to be completely explained is the PlayStation 5's backwards compatibility with past Sony consoles, something that has been missing or limited among the last two iterations. Sony originally stated that only the most popular PlayStation 4 games would be compatible, but later clarified this would extend to a majority of the PlayStation 4's library, similar to how backwards compatibility works between the Xbox One and Xbox 360. Further questions were raised after the reveal of the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition, which lacks a disc drive. Now, a spokesperson for Sony has shed light on how games can make the jump between generations.

In an interview with Japanese website GameSpark, and briefly translated by Reddit user 8bitsleuth, a spokesperson for Sony Interactive Entertainment Asia discussed if something like Smart Delivery on Xbox Series X, which allows select purchases to carry over to the new console, would also help bridge the gap between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The spokesperson said Sony would support publishers offering free PlayStation 5 versions to owners of PlayStation 4 games, although the decision would be at the individual publisher's discretion.

The interview mentions Madden NFL 21, which sparked controversy last month after EA revealed they were offering their own, watered-down version of Smart Delivery for the annual football franchise. Sony didn't elaborate if they would do the same for first party titles, although The Last of Us: Part II's PS4 version will be compatible with the PS5.
The transition between console generations usually leads to some awkwardly-timed releases, as gamers hesitate to buy PlayStation 4 or Xbox One games when they might have to purchase it a second time just to run on their new console. Big upcoming releases like Assassin's Creed: Valhalla have already announced their cross-generation status which should hopefully set the tone for publishers to not get overly greedy and alienate fans. Smart Delivery has been well-received by Xbox fans, and now it seems Sony will follow suit for the PlayStation 5.

Sony’s PlayStation 5 Reveal Re-scheduled 12th june 1am pk time

Here’s my take on pricing and the digital edition.

Sony wants to push a digital revolution this time around. They’re taking a relatively safe approach by offering a disk loading version, because not everyone can or wants to download games when they’ve been used to disks for the last 25 years. However, there will most likely be a $100 difference between the two versions of the console and that is definitely not the additional cost Sony has to bear for a blu ray drive. A $50 difference just wouldn’t push enough sales of the digital edition.

I personally would prefer the digital edition since most of my PS4 game library was digital and in 2020 where almost no laptop, pc or even car audio systems (generally where you’d have to use disks about ~10 years ago) use disks, its time for console gamers to grow tf up and make the transition. It is way more convenient to have all games available to play instantly rather than having to find the disk from your drawers. And even disk based games have to be installed on the internal storage so you don’t really save storage by going the conventional route.

A few years back when the initial PS5 rumours started showing up, I was almost certain that there would only be a digital edition based on how disk drives have disappeared from other gadgets in the last decade. I am almost certain that Sony would be successful in creating a mass market for digital consoles with PS5 and the PS6 would be digital only.

So in other words, Ps4 games has to be kind of remastered by publishers for ps5 in order to be playable on ps5? That is why they are referring ps5 BC on publoshers will.

Also, wouldnt the Digital only SKU be more profitable for Sony in the long run as the only way to but would be from the PSN Store and they would be cutting out major retailers like GS, Amazon, Walmart etc.

I believe even with physical discs, the platform it is released on takes a cut, I think?

Plus many of the online retailers also sell direct game codes for the games and not just PSN cards to top off the wallet and then get from the PS Store?

I think Sony charges a certain percentage to the publisher irrespective if its a Digital or a Physical disc. And I guess major retailers would then buy off from the publishers and take their cut from it. This is pure conjecture based on my limited knowledge though.

Digital codes from major retailers are hardly ever discounted. I have seen prices of physical discs at less than half as compared to the digital codes. And this happens very often. I think in the longer run, if digital is the only option, you would much rather buy directly from the PSN store instead of getting digital game codes from these retailers.

Yup, the digital edition benefits Sony in the long run. There are no intermediaries involved with software revenue coming from PSN. A UHD bluray disc drive typically costs $20-25, but I can see Sony selling this SKU for $100 less than the disc edition to encourage digital sales.

yes first party is in sonys hand so they should bring all of em to ps5 from ps4 but third party is upto devs themselves like ubisoft said valhalla digital or physical copies both would run on the next gen consoles.

I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.
