Sony PlayStation 5 : Play Has No Limits

PS5 Release Date, PS5 Games, PS5 Power vs Xbox One X, PS5 Price Speculation - All the PS5 Info lets discuss

Here are all the rumors and speculation surrounding the PS5, including a potential PS5 release date, power, and launch games of Sony's inevitable PS5. Is the PS5 releasing in 2019?

What we Want From the PS5 Speculation aside, what would we ideally want from the PS5? Backwards compatibility for PS4 games would be brilliant, simply because you'd be able to carry over classics like the Shadow of the Colossus remake to the next console generation. We've seen how well Microsoft is handling backwards compatibility with its Xbox One consoles (including getting amazing results updating Xbox 360 games to run in 4K on Xbox One X), and something similar on PS5 would be great.

In terms of pure power, the PlayStation 5 has to significantly exceed the power of the Xbox One X. This means featuring more games running in 4K at 60FPS. If the PS5 can deliver about 10 TF of power we'd be happy, as this would allow devs to create games that look a generation ahead of what we've got now.

But what would the dream launch lineup be for the PS5? Death Stranding and The Last of Us: Part 2 are hugely anticipated blockbuster games, with the former especially looking to push the performance of whatever system it's on to the very limit. We've also mentioned Ghost of Tsushima and a sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, and the latter would be the perfect way to kick off a new console cycle from Sony.

What I read was different..I heard most PS4 games will run exactly how they did one the ps4 and only a select few will take advantage of gameboost feature (higher framrates)

I maybe forgetting something but on the series X side we have Xbox One and Xbox 360 compatibly, graphical upgrades, resolution and framrates upgrades and auto HDR
The only extra thing Series X/S does is auto HDR which adds some kind of automated HDR algorithm to BC games which didn't support it natively, other than that the BC program is almost identical between the two.

Series X|S also has 360 BC, but it only has a percent or two of 360 games, not like what PS5/Series S|X are doing for the leaving gen.

Adding enhancements to PS4/XBO games for PS5/XBS|X is on a per-game basis. Like Sucker Punch are adding enhancements as a patch, meanwhile Insomniac are selling a remaster for Spider Man (the original PS4 Spider Man game will still work in PS4 Pro mode via backwards compatibility on PS5 regardless).

Hope that made sense.

Yeah, all devs need to do is ensure that their PS4 games offer either a dynamic resolution or a frame rate setting that caps at 60fps in order to take advantage of Game Boost. It's the same case for the Series X.

Ghost of Tsushima, TLOU2, and FFVII Remake currently don't have such options, but with GoT getting updated to support 60fps, I'm hoping the other two will as well.

This may be old, but saw it for the first time today, apparently the list of Collections games for the first batch have been revealed, and it's a pretty good list of games.

Some might say its already as good, if not better, than the higher profile list of games on a similar competing platform.

Now, the real question is whether these games will run with boost mode or not ?

Because Until Dawn ran with an unlocked frame rate and it sticks in the mid 30's at best on both base and Pro, so if the power of the PS5 can let it run at a full 60 FPS .. that's gonna be pretty good for the game.

PS5 Backward Compatibility Looks Pathetic Compared Xbox Series X/S

When comparing the backward compatibility features of both Xbox and PlayStation's next-gen console, there really is only one clear winner.

Microsoft has released more information regarding the backward compatibility baked into Xbox Series X|S, and it's clear that it's above and beyond Sony's offering with the PlayStation 5. Playing four generations of Xbox on one console has been one of the main selling points of Microsoft's new console, especially once it was clear that their next-gen launch lineup would be lacking. Rumors initially stated that the PlayStation would have a similarly deep back catalog, but those were proven untrue. The PlayStation 5 will simply run the previous generation of games with improvements in some titles.

On Sony's end, all but a handful of PS4 games are backwards compatible on PS5, but not all of those games will benefit from improvements granted by the new console's hardware. Select titles will get improved loading speeds and higher frame rates via what Sony calls "Game Boost". Those games that already feature unlocked framerates and dynamic resolution can take advantage of the new console's improved innards, and all PS4 games can utilize certain unrevealed features from the PlayStation 5's new menu system. So, while PlayStation 4 games will move forward to the next console, not all of them will keep up with games designed for PlayStation 5.

With Xbox Series X/S, though, backward compatibility is a very different story. A new Xbox blog post laid out all of the improvements gamers will see in backward compatible games, which span the entire lifespan of the Xbox brand - from the original Xbox to Xbox One. All previous-gen games running on Xbox Series X will see better loading and frame rates, but that's only the start of the story. Xbox Series X is introducing Auto HDR, which brings the color and depth of newer TV and monitor technology to games designed before the feature was widely available. Auto HDR is implemented on a system level, so it runs in addition to the full CPU and GPU power of the console with no slowdown or loss of performance.

Additionally, Xbox announced that it was doubling the framerate of a selection of titles that could support such a feature. If a game's animations or physics support it, as is the case with Fallout 4 in the above Xbox-provided video, the Series X can bring older games to life with a smooth presentation that's unavailable on any other home console. Finally, for those who may have skipped the Xbox One, Microsoft is enabling free cloud saves on the Xbox 360, allowing lapsed players to bring everything forward and pick up on any classics left in their backlog.

While it's great that Sony is letting players bring their digital libraries from the PlayStation 4 forward, their hands-off method of backward compatibility renders those games as lesser to anything in the PlayStation 5 library. Just like going back to an old console with component cables, unless the nostalgia is there, it's going to be hard to appreciate games as they were at the time. Microsoft's methods on Xbox Series X/S provide rose-tinted glasses that actually work, letting games run just as gamers remember them. When compared back to back, there's really no comparison.

Xbox Series X/S will be available on November 10, 2020. PlayStation 5 will be available on November 12, 2020 in select countries and November 19 globally. Pre-orders are available now.

This is fantastic. Sony just took the PS4 OS and made the best version of it. PS4's OS was already better as compared to Xbox's but this is just on another level. Simple, Neat and super pretty to look at.

Dark/black aesthetics are always a good thing. I expected a PS4 UI with additional features for PS5 but this is way better.

Hope they show quick resume and other features soon.

However, as you can see as the disassembly progresses, in the case of PS5 which adopts a design that uses many curved surfaces, the width becomes narrower from the center of the body to the edge, so the actual volume is about 7.2 liters for a normal PS5. The digital edition without an optical drive is about 6.4 liters. The volume of the competing product " Xbox Series X " is about 6.86 liters, which is about 1.05 times and about 0.93 times, respectively.
Digital edition of big boi PS5 has a smaller volume than the piece of brick XSX lolol.

The 'flaps' make it look bigger, but the flaps also present an opportunity for some amazing custom game based covers owing to how easy they are to replace.

PS5 won’t actively monitor or listen to your voice chat, Sony says

Recording is only for complaints sent to moderators, and you can’t opt out

Sony has published new details about the PlayStation 5’s recording of voice chats, after the company appeared to be caught flat-footed earlier this week when it released the latest PlayStation 4 system software update and users caught wind of the feature unexpectedly.

“We didn’t clearly communicate this feature or explain why we were introducing it, and we apologize for that,” Catherine Jensen, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s vice president for global consumer experience, said in a PlayStation Blog post on Friday afternoon.

Following the release of PS4 system software version 8.00 on Wednesday, players began seeing a notification and a message on the console regarding its party chat feature. Titled “About Party Safety,” the note said, “Please be aware that voice chats in parties may be recorded and sent to us by other users. By participating in voice chats, you agree to your voice being recorded.” The message also noted, “These recordings will be used only for safety and moderation purposes by PlayStation Safety.”

Sony later updated its PlayStation Blog post about the v8.00 firmware to acknowledge the “About Party Safety” message and notification, explaining that the recording feature would be available exclusively on PS5 when the console launches on Nov. 12. The update also said that the feature would allow users to submit the recordings to Sony for moderation purposes. But the entire episode raised eyebrows among the PlayStation community, especially with respect to privacy concerns, leading Sony to publish further details on Friday.

All PlayStation users can file reports about abusive players that they encounter online, but only PS5 users will have the ability to submit a voice chat clip along with a report. Jensen clarified that PS5 users and PS4 users will be able to chat in parties together, which necessitated the notice in Wednesday’s PS4 firmware update for a feature that Sony evidently intended to explain later.

“If a PS5 player needs to file a harassment report, they will be able to include up to a 40 second-long Voice Chat clip in their report — 20 seconds of the main conversation with the other player, plus an additional 10 seconds before and after the conversation selection,” said Jensen. “Only the most recent five minutes of a Voice Chat will be available for a player to use for this reporting function.”

Recording is enabled by default on PS5, and users won’t have the ability to disable it.

“There won’t be an option to opt-out of this Voice Chat recording function because we want all users to feel safe when playing with others online, not just those who choose to enable it,” said Jensen. However, Jensen emphasized that “this feature will not actively monitor or listen in on your conversations — ever.” Instead, the recording capability is reserved only for capturing audio to accompany reports of abuse or harassment.

It sounds like the PS5 will maintain a running recording of the last five minutes of chat, but that only a user can initiate the process of sending the audio to Sony. What remains unclear is whether the recording functionality applies for all voice chat, including in-game chat, or is limited to party chat alone. (If players hear harassment or abuse online, it tends to come from random people with whom they get thrown into a multiplayer match — rather than a person they’ve invited into a party chat.) We’ve asked Sony for clarification, and we’ll update this article with any information we receive.

PS5 users will be able to submit these reports directly from the console. They’ll go to the Consumer Experience division at PlayStation, where moderators will review the complaint, listen to the recording, and take action if appropriate.

The PlayStation Community Code of Conduct prohibits hate speech, whether using or promoting it; threatening, bullying, harassing, or stalking anyone; encouraging anyone to hurt themselves or someone else; or being “vulgar or offensive,” among other rules.

But behavior that merits a sanction, versus that which may just be edgy or in poor taste, is not always going to be a clear-cut case. “Some submitted reports won’t be valid, and our team will take this as an opportunity to provide guidance and education,” Jensen said.

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.
