Alrite PG Cellphone gurus, I need help on cell phone purchase matter :)p).

I am looking for an update to an Android phone (have Galaxy Y) and have managed to finalize two candidates:

Sony Xperia S

or

Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Are these worth it?

The things I am looking for in a cell phone is fast web browsing, Office editing, a good gaming capability and most of all, a snappy performance. I want the device to be butter smooth and mostly lag free. So kindly help me in this regard.

P.S. I have a budget of 35k so any other suggestions are also welcome. (No apple devices please, already got an Iphone 4s).

Looking forward to suggestions. :wink2:

35k?

Can't you get a Nexus 4 in that kind of budget? I think you can.

From the two, otherwise, I would suggest Galaxy Nexus.

Or

HTC 8X

Nexus 4? Seriously? I heard it was retailing for more than 45k in the market. That is why I did not mention it.

And 8X also, in 35k. Dude I would go for it if it was this cheap. :crying:

Anyway would Galaxy Nexus would be enough for my suggested use??
usmankh10... Yara I personally like HTC OneX, but I have heard that it has battery issues like its drains pretty quickly? Also will it be available in a good condition in 35k?

8X and Nexus 4? I think you forgot the part where he said '35k'.

@OP You can get a used One X for that price. For a new phone however Galaxy Nexus is the best option

i m currently using galaxy nexus,i sold my previous g.nexus nd bought xperia s ,i sold it within 2 days because its battery is worse then g.nexus ,screen is just ok nd 12 mp cam s pathetic .regarding htc one x ,my friend is using it since a month and its battery is just equal to g.nexus ,u cant get more then 20 hours with heavy use but htc one x have better stnadby timing as compared to galaxy nexus .
u can easily get a white/grey htc one x in 10/10 condition with all acc.s nd box in 35k ,waranty one costs around 38k

I guess that puts Sony Xperia out of the question. Most of the folks are recommending HTC OneX and Galaxy Nexus. :)

Alright, I will look into these phones. And also, what should I look for when buying a second hand phone like HTC OneX? I am kind of a noob when it comes to these things. (sm2)

abobobilly.... Any input on this matter mate??

Try Wifi and bluetooth. Try calling and check the speakers, microphone etc. And also check the screen and battery.

Galaxy S3 if you can find one in this price. HTC one X has a locked bootloader and that hurts bigs time.

It will be quite difficult to find a used Galaxy S3 in this range. And also, does unlocking bootloader do any harm to the device??

I will most probably root my android phone to enjoy its benefits fully. (sm1) That is why I am asking this?? :)

In devices with a locked bootloader including Galaxy Nexus, you have to unlock bootloader before rooting and it is one hell of a headache.

On the other I have rooted, unrooted Galaxy S2 within 5mins with a simple zip file . Also Galaxy S2, Galaxy 3 support apps like Triangle away, Mobile odin etc. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899

Installing and use CFW without SD-Card support is just horrible, just like tethered Jail breaking.

I have changed roms, installed kernels all without requiring a PC thanks to unlocked bootloader, mobile odin and SD card.

And there is unremovable battery another headache if you are into flashing CFW.

That is scary mate :p. So what do you suggest?? Obviously finding S3 in this range is impossible.

Its cake to root both One X and G.Nexus, just that the Galaxy line-up has a more simplified method, unlocking bootloaders ain't that hard too. You won't be needing either triangle away or ODIN much anyways and HTC has its own flash tool. @OP I will reccomend going for a HTC One X, G.Nexus maybe good but its showing its age and One X is a lot faster than the Nexus. Both One X, S III and Nexus have great dev support but for the price One X is the best choice.
