This is happening in a lot of areas. I think its a good thing. But i don't see ALL the companies doing it. Only saw Telenor's counter. Didn't see any other.

Yet another scam by PTA to rob the poor 'awam'.. NADRA Begum has already complained that the Biometric system used by Telecom are substandard and therefore they cannot verify data sent by them.
I do not see the point in all this..
103, Millions subscribers x 10 = ??? Telecom companies must have paid officials at PTA a few thousands rupees to do that. they would sell their sole for less than that. At the moment Telenor is charging an extra 12 paisas per call under 'improving quality' tax.. My two emails to PTA didnt get a reply(however they are better than State Bank whose complaint box is full from last two years and so you cannot send them any complaints).

Today saw these little devices on a small easyshop khokha type shop. I was a bit skeptic about getting my SIM verified from such place. Wanted to confirm are these legit?

I can confirm that the one I used is legit.
There's a 'sabzi' shop in Bahria Town, they have the Biometric machine, they sell SIMs and are doing verification as well.
AFAIK, they're only doing Ufone and Zong at the moment.

I didn't have time to visit a franchise. So payed a visit to a local Mobile Shop in my area. Paid Rs.10 and got it reverified. Time saving , and it was quick. Barely took 30 secs for process.
i did this re-verification of sims on a roadside telenor setup but haven't received any sms confirming the same. I did the verification on 14th Feb... :S

I did the same.
All SIMs verified for 20rs each.
Telenor and Mobilink sent SMS within 10 seconds of getting the SIMs verified.
Ufone didn't.
However, if you don't get a message (on Ufone) dial *336# and choose the Biometric option. It'll tell you if the SIM is verified or not.

Got a text from Ufone saying I should get my sim verified. Then later in the day received another one saying it has already been verified even though I'm pretty sure it wasn't. :s
so got all my sims (2 ufone) verified today from ufone center
was wondering how easy it is. they make excuse about e-voting that it cost alot, etc etc but within half a month this method is implemented all over the country including many small retailers
