Screen goes black for a few seconds while gaming. Is my GPU failing or is it my PSU?

Salaam,
I have a very old Dell XPS 8300 with a core i5-2300 and 8gb RAM. I put an Inno3d GTX 1060 6GB in it for a cheap gaming PC. It worked for a few months but now while gaming, I get a black screen for a few seconds multiple times during the playthrough. I can still hear sound and still control my character. This happens in graphically intense games. I want to know if this problem is caused by a failing PSU or is my GPU faulty? I suspect the PSU as it's a very old one. It's the OEM power supply that came with the Dell and is rated for 460 watts. I bought this machine used so it's a pretty old machine.
I would like to mention that the CPU and GPU temps are fine. GPU temps go up to 75-80c while gaming but I think that's cuz of Karachi weather.
Thank you in advance.

Sound like a driver issue, ddu the older driver and fresh install the latest one it might solve your problem

I have tried that but didn't work. Even tried multiple drivers, thinking maybe the newer one had a bug. Nope, doesn't solve the issue. That's why I suspected a hardware issue.

see if the HDMI cable or whatever you're using to connect the GPU to Monitor, has other electrical wires close by ? This screen flicker often happens due to eletrical signal interference.

Just remove nearby wires through arranging them somehow.

Tip : do replace the PSU with something a bit stronger, like a 550W PSU with 80+ bronze rating if you can afford. it would provide more safety for your setup ! Good Luck !

Your PSU is going bad...i'v had this issue twice now and both of the times i took in a 2nd hand PSU and after a good few months of gaming and shit it would start giving random blackouts during gameplays and such... Try switching out your PSU and see if it works...

As far as i can tell during gameplay your pc would give a slight jerk in the sound and then lose visual to your monitor...even fixing the cable back wont work but you can still hear the sound in the background being played... If this is exactly what happens then yeah your PSU is dying get it changed

I had a similar issue screen got black for 2-3 second with no audio and video. Turns out it was my mobile which was nearby and its signals disrupted the display once i moved the mobile away my problem solved.

Sorry for a late reply, but thank you for all your suggestions. I'm pretty sure it isn't a mobile signal issue, I have also tried removing cables and replacing the DVI cable I use to connect to the monitor. Same problem. So it's most likely a PSU or GPU issue. Hoping it's not with the GPU. I'm gonna buy a new PSU at the end of this month. Meanwhile I removed the GPU from the system, cuz I don't want to damage it if it's a PSU problem.

I'm thinking on buying the Cooler Master MWE Gold 550W for around 10k. Is it a good choice?

Why would you spend a whooping 10k on PSU ?? All these new graphic cards are insanely power efficient. All you need is a good efficient 450 watts PSU. You can get that for around 6k.

From your describing I suppose the problem is with power supply, I've got a similar problem. The power supply is heating during the time and then your monitor turn off.
As well I advice you to learn information how to stay safe on the network because if you play games online you can be attacked by hacker or by mallware.

for 10k you could get an FSP Hydro GE 650 and FPS psu are pretty good. Anyways you can opt for some corsair VS series one which are a little cheaper. Can you tell us the ampere rating on +12V rail on your current PSU? If you are seeing just a black screen and the it recovers then I don't think it's a PSU issue, however if you can't recover and it crashes/freezes afterwards it can be the PSU. THe best way would be to check with a spare PSU first.
