Depends on what you are going to play on it.
If you don't play FPS shooters and you are not a little competitive. Then a 4k gsync will be the best for you for Single player games.
But if u play six siege, csgo, pubg etc then probably 1440p 144hz. Do note you will need a good cpu to push 144 fps at a constant rate.

Which 4k monitor do you have in mind and from will you buy it? I'm planning on buying one as well.

It is too early to predict .wait till we get the whole picture as to what 20 series is .there are no stats at all at the moment from nvidia .

Jayzzy bhai I would rather wait till they're officially released but if I were you, I'd rather go for the 1080 ti at this time. Why? the whole ray tracing thing kinda seems like a gimmick to me just like how they hyped up physx back in the day plus it is not supported by most of the current games out right now and we don't have an exact idea about how much faster it will be than the current gen. After the launch, you can pick up a 1080 ti even cheaper since I think you're in the UK right now

Like the member posted above and I'd just wait for actual benchmarks (some reliable ones like TPU, Guru3D and a few more) and physically launch on storefront. We still not sure/seeing if Ray-Tracing (of greater significance) is even optimized for RTX 2xxx GPUs or not. Its pretty early to make decision on this upgrading, especially when the price difference is more than 40% over beastly performer, Pascal.

I would suggest you to buy ultrawide 3840x1440 setup, it is a top more productive and sexy for gaming movies and productivity while only downside being 16:9 videos will have black bars on it.
