PTCL DSL problem need help!

Ok guys i have come up with some questions, some of them might be silly ones but i m the noobest when it comes to Dsl and related things so would really appreciate any help from u guys.
I got a ptcl 1 mb dsl connection about 1 month ago actually the telephone wires were quite shitty there were 4-5 joints in the wires so the internet was'nt working well i had to restart my modem several times to use the internet. Then after 2 weeks i changed the wires now there are no joints in the wires but the internet is still not working well enough. Below are the problems i m having.

1. When i turn on the modem for the first time the internet works fine but after 10-20 minutes it stops working and i have to restart it atleast once to use the internet again after restarting the modem the internet works fine.
2. I m not getting good speeds on downloads, only some times i get good speeds but mostly the speed is up and down.
3. I m having problems with watching videos online even in 1 min video it stops several time.
4. Most important one, when i m downloading something and start watching videos online at the same time the download speed reduces significantly.

I m using ZTE modem, guys tell me what to do should i call them on 1218 and tell them my problem or there is another fix to this problem

I think the ZTE models heat up quickly....the rest of the problem maybe with your ...check if ur using a copper or optical fibre....in both casing remove the splitter and have a direct conection with router without a single joint in wire......also check if there is noise in the wire (ofcourse check the tone through phoneset) if its also fine then the problem must be with your dp pair...give a call ur local line man give him a pepsi and ask him to change ur pair!

I dont think its the heating problem....I m using copper wire, and about the splitter well r u talking about the splitter that comes with the modem? if yes then how am i going to use my telephone if i remove the splitter......There is no joint in the wire now i replaced the wire about 2 weeks ago

heating problem doesn't arises in copper wire its the router problem....secondly remove the splitter just for checking the connection..if it works fine than change the splitter if doesn't this means that splitter has nothing to do with it so we can come to other possible reasons of this problem!

(change the router with ur friend whos router is working fine....remove the spliiter and see for one day if everything goes fine than the problem has to be in the dp pairs!)

This is the same problem with me..
PTCL modems are fucking..They Vsync after some time so thats the problem

And on ptcl the speed is always up and down because of worst bandwith management..
So its better if u change ur isp :d

Ok guys i will try remove the splitter option for a day and then tell u what happens, but i need some more suggestions the problem is that even if the internet is working normally and i m having good downloading speeds the online videos still does'nt play without lag any suggestions on this

I removed the splitter and used the internet for about 4 hours but no good the same problem still exists, I checked the noise margin in the router settings the internet works fine when its above 6 but when its below 6 the internet does'nt work. Now there is no joint in the telephone wire so why is this noise thingy snoozing me any suggestions on what i should do now, plz guys need ur help

looks like the problem isn't the router or splitter....ask you local line man abt it they know more than you think abt them....waisay have you checked the tone of phone through phone set coz they wont check these signal ratio through router control panel he'll ask u to bring the phone set and if he founds any noise he'll surely suggest you some solution coz its compeletly on your line man now!

check ur ping on DNS server what's it response

i am sure there will be a request time out, clear sign is unable to play online video's

call them on 1218 first Good luck for calling 2ndly if they pick up tell them ur DNS ping is breaking and force them to refresh your port.

but if u r far away from the exchange as amanga said u might have face such problem because its ADSL as near u from exchange that much speed u'll get.

i am stuck in one of ur query that's why modem is been hanged, i was facing my problem in my Huwai router but i was a bit different i was on downloading from rapid share when file reached to 99% that shit thing unable to proceed it more i have to reset it then i'll b able to down, in ur case i think ask them to replace ur router, good luck for it as well , and for replacement ask them a new one not used one.

Nah don't think so because my friends living near my house are not facing these problems, there internet is working smoothly......

Guys since 2 days iam experiencing problems with PTCL broadband....It feels like my internet speed has come down to 512kb from 1mb.........downloads used to be at 115kb....now since 2 days ,,download speeds are stuck at 50 -55kb.
Browsing is also not that much fast as it used to me..
I have huawei modem.

CAn any one help me.....what the problem could be?........anyone facing tis problem with ptcl?....

go to ur router and see whether these numbers are present in the connection status ADSL Port Enable
Downstream Line Rate 1020 Upstream Line Rate 510

i checked it ....down stream is 2525 and upstream is 387.

after checking speedtest.net ..it says iam getting 0.70mb download and .20 upload rate..
it used to be 1.24 down and 0.50 up.

^Im also getting this problem but it was automatically fixed a few days ago, then it started again today, im getting 1mb speeds on 2mb ptcl

hey bro buy a huawei modom its awsome i have the the HG510 it dosnt heat up never freezes and has four ethernet ports i hav it connected to my ps3 and pc and my lilbro playz online games and i surf the net without lag on my ptcl 4mb net

Hey guys one of my problems is solved yesterday i dowloaded the apple safari browser and the online video playing problem is solved. On other browsers it stops several times but with apple safari it runs smooooooth

I HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM...AND ITS BEEN A WEEK NOW....

Connection is 2mb.
Speed goes down to 2kbps in around 10 minutes....then it comes to a halt and doest work properly unless the modem is restarted.
Modem is Huwaii and heats up immediately....Ive used a direct fan and even an A/C to cool it down ......but the problem persists.

Will call PTCL soon....and if it doesnt help....ill get rid of it..

Is there any better DSL service with similiar charges for 2mb???? im using PTCL 2m for PKR 1400 (students package)
