Proprietary Li-ion batteries vs AA

I have a very specific question. Are cameras with proprietary Li-ion batteries a bad purchasing decision in Pakistan? I ask because I have read that when these models get old you can no longer buy replacement batteries for them. So should one prefer cameras that use standard AA batteries instead?

Note I am talking about consumer cameras not fancy DSLRs.

for consumer cameras, standard batteries are definitely preferable, cuz of availability and lasting
