Capcom will reveal a new Resident Evil project, called Project Resistance, ahead of the Tokyo Game Show 2019 on Sept. 9. The game is expected on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One, according to Capcom’s Project Resistance teaser website.
The trailer will be revealed on the Capcom YouTube page at 8 a.m. PST on Sept. 9. Tokyo Game Show attendees will be able to watch gameplay at the Capcom booth at set times during the show, which is held from Sept. 12 to Sept. 15 at Tokyo’s Makuhari Messe. The opportunity to play Project Resistance is available only “by advance registration” at the show, and for Japanese residents only, Capcom wrote on the Project Resistance website.
Information on the project is limited, though images of the game have since been leaked online. A Reddit user put the YouTube livestream link for the trailer into a thumbnail grabber site — used to procure YouTube video thumbnails, naturally — and found screenshots, which are reportedly from the Project Resistance teaser trailer. The images are tiny, and exceptionally blurry when blown up, but appear to hint at a four-player game.
Resident Evil enthusiasts on the internet are hoping Project Resistance is similar to Resident Evil Outbreak, an online survival horror game released in 2003 for PlayStation 2. The game was beloved by its dedicated fans, some of which put the game and its sequel back online on a private server in Japan in 2014.
No details about Project Resistance have been confirmed, however.
