Hi guys,
I'm facing a strange problem with my PTCL internet connection (or so I think it's my connection) but I've failed to get somewhere with the PTCL guys. Should have known better! Anyway, I'm posting the issue here, and wondering if you guys have some thoughts on this.
For the past couple of years, I have mostly been gaming on PlayStation platforms, and often visit this site called Playstation 4, PlayStation 3 Trophies, News, Guides & Forums at PlaystationTrophies.org when I'm in the mood to hunt some trophies and look for guides. Worth noting that I've had a PTCL connection for a few years now as well since they offer the highest speeds in my area. Anyway, sometime last year, the website (playstationtrophies) stopped working. I get the following error:
This webpage is not available
ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED
The server at Playstation 4, PlayStation 3 Trophies, News, Guides & Forums at PlaystationTrophies.org can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the network service that translates a website's name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Google Chrome from accessing the network.
When I use a proxy to access this site, it works. I have no firewall, the site seems to be working for the rest of the world, I haven't messed around with any DNS settings either. I just don't know why the site won't work. PTCL is clueless. So can anyone with some technical knowledge fill me in on what this means?
And while we're on this topic, I am no longer able to access the Game Informer website either. I simply get an internal server error. And the site used to work before.
What could be the issue in both or either of the cases?
