What's the big idea?

Its been a long time since there has been a competition held under PakGamers. So, with the recent e-Sports craze. I've decided to set things up, however... Its not as easy as just finding players and patch them up against each others... its more complex than you and I have thought. We need mutual understanding between us gamers to make this possible.

The e-Sports and Gaming scene in Pakistan is still a taboo.
People are discouraged left and right.
So we need to accept it, enmasse, that this is a hobby which can make us enjoy our life more than anything else.

You may have noticed that there are many other companies and short hobbyists setting up local e-Sports in the country.
That is the first step to making it a norm, if we join in with everyone else. We can one day, open up a market that can benefit us gamers.
Every year, every day. We're losing talents, its being ignored.
We wish to put a stop to that and open up a way where us gamers can have a field of our own.

So this is where you guys come in! This is where we begin, along with everyone else.
To make this a reality.

PakGamers NEED YOU to level the field.
PakGamers will start its own e-Sports scene, for the community by the community.

Without each others support, this is not possible. And if things work out for the better, we can even bring in the big names to support us in our quest to setting up such legitimate tournaments.

The plan is simple.... We're going to make this FOR THE GAMERS, BY THE GAMERS.
We'll start small, and slow... Steadily' we'll get where we want to!

What is the plan?
The plan is simple.
We want you to join in tournaments that we will host.
That is all there is to start off our PakGamers e-Sport tourneys.
Without players, there wont be a chance at anything.
We need you to spread acceptance and bring your fellow gamers into the scene.

But!

I'm sure you're all worried about winning rewards and the answer to that is simple.
We'll have some tourneys which MIGHT feature them, they may have entry fees or they may not. But as long as we're playing it, we might get them down the line so that is our secondary priority right now.

The games we've picked up are as follow, we've focused primarily on accessibility to allow ANYONE to join us. (That means, the more easy the game is to obtain, the better)
1. Counter Strike Global Offensive.
2. DOTA 2.
3. League of Legends.
4. Tekken 7
5. (Might be) Overwatch.
6. And more to follow...

These seem to be the popular titles among us Pakistani gamers, so that is what we're going to start our focus on.

After its successful inception, we will open up a separate section on PakGamers forum geared towards all future PG e-Sports related things.
Registered players/teams will gain access to it to be able to join in the future tourneys.
It will also include a Hall of Fame, Achievements, Roles, etc... Think of it like a PG Certification for the future.

I'm hoping to make it a success with all of you!

I've listed some things separately that you might be curious about.

How will you set them up?
You will all play from home on our designated server for the competition.
There is no need to worry about moving to a LAN location.
Custom Matches and Rules, if thats want you wanted to know.

Will there be Prize Pools?
Yes and No. It all depends on the type of matches we'll decide it.
For prize pools, the best we can rely on is to have entry fees and donations.

Will you advertise?
Yes, as well as including you guys! Word of mouth is always preferable.

How often will you host?
Its atleast once every 2 months for non-premium ones.
And 6 for premium ones.
This is just a starter plan.

Why not pirated copies of games?
We wish to stay on the legitimate side to things to encourage legitimate business and more business opportunities for our country.
So we will not endorse pirated video games.

However, all of this is just a heads up for now.
We'll move on to the experimental phase shortly.

Your support will mean everything to our new adventure.

there are die hard players of OVERWATCH and rainbow six and i think we can build a very strong community around these games here

Especially overwatch on both consoles and PC

Nice start. By the way Rainbow Six Siege should be the primary title in the list as it has the most player base in the world and I must say PK community is also increasing day by day on this.

Definitely like the idea. Count me in :)

Also, as someone who has managed quite a bit of (and sufficiently large) online tournaments before, AND being an old gamer, a few suggestions:

  1. Think properly of your Advertisement strategy. Because a lot of efforts for regrouping online community have died because they were not advertised properly. This does not mean, paid advertisements, but in particular, Twitter, Facebook, Discord and other places that can spread the word. Spend some dedicated time and people in spreading the word.
  2. Add some older simpler games aswell that have had a lot of players and fans, but are less played nowadays. This will help bring back some old community together aswell (my clan for eg. will be willing to come back for some casual fun).
  3. The games that i suggest are TF2, MOHAA, and possible CS:S. These are easy to host, and have had a HUGE fanbase back in the day. The measure of success is the number of players, and this will surely help.
  4. Stick to the rules, and make them firm. Controlling things such as abuse in the servers leads to unhappy populace. Keep good mods and shun any and every event that can cause trouble.

Will events take place at a common place, e.g. a local gaming zone or auditorium etc or everyone plays from their home? I am guessing it's the latter

What kind of supervision and commitment level (wrt time) do you have in mind? Some details would be good before confirming anything by anyone i guess
