I do think that if PS3 had a cheaper media that would be cracked...it would've been more popular than x360,it has reliability...plus almost everyone has a ps2,and they would be more attracted to the successor...so the predecessor popularity could've gave ps3 a win for sure.

however,i think PS3 is still good in its current state...we're living in a so called third world country,so its hard to expect more. And i think its surprising to see people crave gaming just like any other...some of us by the grace of Allah, can afford all consoles + with a kickass lcd sitting in their rooms.

the truth be told i was originally intending to buy PS3 for the same reason DarkSlayer pointed out
tht it was the successor of PS2 and ppl wuld have bought it without a seconds hesitation

i also thought why iz Microsoft even bothering with a console with PS3 on the way who will buy the 360 anyway?
as i was a PC gamer i chose 360 bcoz of cheap games i had no idea whtsoever wht type of games both these consoles
offer later i realized tht 360 had games which i personally find entertaining having never owned the PS2 nor touching a
single Japanese based game and 360 was the better choice for Cross Platform titles

Currently only hardcore Sony fans buy PS3 as only a handfull of ppl can afford to buy Genuine games

Yeah you are very much right. I think many people are apprehensive to get a PS3 because they can't afford original games. However, I still think if someone can afford a machine like X360 even they can buy originals if they start collecting money and compromise on few of their money spending options. I know its easy for me to say this but trust me I have to go through the same. Now i have recently collected money for a PS3 game knowing that I can spend that money on other things, however thats my choice where I spend it.

Sadly, our people don't want to spend that much money on the games at all 'cos they are used to spending 100 rupees and then playing the game for a while. I know of so many people who just buy games and don't play them for a long time at all 'cos of the value of the money they spend. Atleast after buying originals, I actually buy quality games and even complete them, which gives me the chance to enjoy every penny that I have collected or earned and spent.

Again I know that many people might be furious by what I have said and I accept that we belong to a third world country, however I would again like to mention that if you can afford a X360 then trust me you can collect money after intervals to buy games as well...Its the same in west...I know a lot of people who are confused which games to get since they have a limited budget. They also don't have too much to spend on games whereas here you go, buy a game for 100 and if you like it, you play it for a while and if you don't, you just throw it away in the corner...I have witnessed this happening.

Its time that our people change their perspective about gaming...Unfortunately even many gamers here don't take it that seriously and claim themselves to be hardcore games with all due respect :)

Is this a serious question? The answer is as obvious as the answer to the following prompt:

Do you believe that the Ferrari Enzo would have taken off much better in Pakistan if it were a CNG based car with cheaper spare parts and the possibility of appreciation of the Pakistani rupee soon after its launch ?

or are you satisfied with its current state in Pakistan ?

^ Just as he said . I mean , who would be dumb enough to prefer it's current status . If PS3 had cheaper media available as in the case of 360 , it would have easily beaten 360 roubd the globe , not only in Pakistan , Because it has multiple advantages over 360 . Reliability , Free Online and what not .

yeah i agree but 360s got a great GAMES library not to mention how many ex-PS Exclusives
ppl wuldnt have given 360 a chance if PS3 was launched at the same time as 360
everyone wuld opt for the eventual successor of PS2 but since 360 was released one year early it
became popular increasing Microsoft's console base greatly
Now when PS4 and Xbox720 will be released many wuld opt for 360's eventual successor
ppl bought 360 mainly because it was released earlier then MS pushed titles out of tiles for it but tht wont
be the case with the next Xbox

The debate threads are making sense and there should b ones at intervals.

Now to the Topic

If it would have cheaper media than yes it had been more feasible here but not DVD its current state of Bluray media is much better not much Very very much Better and will agree to the succession point of hasanJ and slayer.

But if it would've been cracked than it was like a dream console for every genre and every age group.

Specially the hardcore fans.

Is this a serious question? The answer is as obvious as the answer to the following prompt:
there are those who are still satisfied with the current state of the PS3.

also just having piracy may not have instantly kick started the ps3 a thousand times better, consider things like the competition having a one year head start, a higher ratio of multiplatform titles being better on it etc etc.

and i doubt anyone would want to stick a CNG kit in a ferrarri :p

If PS3 was hacked then I believe almost everyone here on PG would have a PS3 since everyone here is a fan of PS2 then PS3 would rock their life but then it won't be much fun without Blu-Rays as we would be sticking to 9GB DVD's which won't be able to take much details like in Uncharted but if Blu-Ray was hacked it would be much better . But still I prefer PS3 the way it is in Pakistan but if Pakistan were to stabilize it's economy then the Price of Games would automatically come down !
I being a PS3 owner enjoy the offerings that Blu-Ray has and am enjoying the high definition details which 50GB offers !

I'm very satisfied with its current state....true, more people would've probably owned it, had it been modifiable to run pirated discs....but then, think about the benefits....with a modded console, you'd eventually get banned from free online gaming and being able to download demos for games that have yet to be released

These days, a game with an online multiplayer mode can keep you interested for quite a while....COD4, for example, is something that became a part of the daily routine for many people....then there's Warhawk, MGO, LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, Motorstorm 2 etc....all these games provide a tremendous amount of replay value, all thanks to their multiplayer modes....and broadband internet is now a lot more feasible in Pakistan, so all you basically need is an ethernet cable (doesn't come with the 40 GB models)

I'd like to extend this. I am satisfied of course. Sure, its VERY expensive for an average gamer here but die hard lovers of certain exclusive titles or studios would still want to own it.

Also, playing on a non-modified console is something new for me and the peace of mind it delivers plus free online access is just too good to be ignored. The situation can get better if Pakistan is realized as a gaming territory and titles are launch here with appropriate pricing.

Problem is, the censorboard would kick in and there'd be severe consequences with games like GTA4, etc.

^ Great , a maulana is calling them consequences :p

However , I scratch my last statement and yes , I agree that it's current state is better . Because this gen is all about online . So , "ONLINE" is the only reason to overcome piracy . However , I'd like to see original games with proper release here in Pakistan for a proper price tag . That'd solve the problem and can put an end to the thoughts about piracy I guess .

There was the time when the ps2 was "IT'' thing in everykids mind(mine as well)..but we have to appreciate the fact tht only a small %age of us live above the mid-lower class and not evryone can afford the PS3..

yes if blueray wouldve been hacked and even if the price of 1 hacked blue ray would be 1000 rs ,i think ps3 wouldve been rocking..
but when we say tht ps3 is stable in its current state is not entirly ture for pakistani gamers..
we say it's stable casue the ppl we are discussing this (e.g shyber, cerebral, muaaz ,etc are all ps3 owners, we enjoy our gaming alot) if we were to truly talk to other guys about this they would have a TOTALLy diff opinion, and cmon dont tell me tht u havent raised some eyebrows when u tell sumone i own and play ps3 regularly and love it .
our thinking is tht we will rather buy a computer which can do multiple tasks then a ps3 which is primarily a gaming powerhouse.
Now playing online is becoming the "IT'' Factor and ofcosure tht will influence a number of ppl towards ps3 but how many teens under the age of 17 will be able to buy it....i mean no one has a tree tht grows money(if u do just pm me:p)

but i love my ps3 and the comfortness of playing everything original and doing it the right way is one thing u shuld defently experiance(beats the crap out of playing pirated softwares) and the benefits u get are immense but i really wish tht the blueray (even if not hacked) become a lil cheaper for us and then we will see wat ps3 is!

^ The point is , that the only PLUS Factor PS3 has to offer is that you get to play Online without any worries which increases the playablity of a game dramastically .
You get to try out the Demos and DLC and what not .

well original stuff do give a peace of mind...you got warranty for it so you dont have to worry about a thing. And honestly,if MS/SONY/NIN see's us an emerging gaming market and release things official with special prices....2000-2500rs each game,im sure MANY would go for it.

We have a lack of every major support here Pakistan

The only reason PS is having a hard time is because it lost its exclusive titles. If you filter out the titles that MS have gbrought from the PS to the 360 then its a whole different scenario.

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.
