Definitely gonna check this new update out. Wanna compare it to the vanilla version of the game and see how much they've improved. I like the dedication of the team that they are still delivering updates for the players who stuck around, trying to deliver the original promise they made.

[h=1]No Man’s Sky ‘Next’ update teased, game headed to Xbox One[/h][h=2]Hello Games says it’s ‘an important next step’ for space exploration game[/h]

Hello Games is planning a new update for its space exploration game, No Man’s Sky. Called Next, it’s due to be launched this August. No Man’s Sky will also be released on Xbox One later this year, to complement current platforms PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.
The Xbox One version will be available digitally and physically, with the disc release set to be distributed by 505 Games.
Hello Games isn’t yet revealing details on what the Next update will actually entail. According to co-founder Sean Murray, the Next update is based on player feedback. It will also expand on story themes introduced in previous updates.
“We called this update ‘Next,’ because it’s an important next step on a longer journey for us and the community,” said Murray, in an email sent to Polygon. “We’ve been working our socks off on this and it’s by far our biggest update so far. It will be free to existing players, and we’ll continue to support No Man’s Sky in this way for the foreseeable future.”
The game’s most recent update, Atlas Rises, was released last summer, adding 30 hours of story as well as more planetary variety. Prior to that, Hello Games released two major updates following the game’s launch in August 2016.
“We’ve learned a lot over the last few years, faster than we would have liked,” added Murray. “I’d love to avoid talking completely and just make things people can play, but we knew this was going to leak anyway, and I think it’s news that should make a lot of folks happy.”
Prior to its initial release, No Man’s Sky was hyped intensely by Hello Games and Sony, which signed the game as a PlayStation 4 console exclusive. Its arrival split the audience, with some complaining of samey gameplay, and a lack of the magic and variety previously promised. Since then, the game has made significant strides forward. We’ll have more on this No Man’s Sky Next update as details emerge.
Update: Sean Murray said in an Xbox Wire post that the Xbox One version of No Man’s Sky will support 4K resolution (on Xbox One X) and HDR color (on Xbox One S and X).

I'd get this game just for their relentless effort in trying to make up for the cluster crap they made.

[h=1]No Man’s Sky’s big multiplayer update launches in July[/h]

[h=2]Get some friends together to race, build, and dogfight[/h]

No Man’s Sky’s next major content update is out this summer, alongside its debut on Xbox One. On an Inside Xbox stream, Hello Games co-founder Sean Murray announced that both the Xbox One version and Next would launch July 24 — and it’s bringing full-fledged multiplayer with it.
Hello Games, the developers of No Man’s Sky, released a teaser for the game’s “Next” update at the end of March. Its focus on multiplayer, however, was today’s big reveal. While limited multiplayer already exists in the game, Murray gave some examples that suggests the new iteration of multiplayer will allow for far more player interaction.
Players will be able to group up with friends to survive, build, race and simply relax in the massive space world that is No Man’s Sky. Murray described the Next update as a culmination of “this potential that everyone’s always seen in No Man’s Sky,” he said during a live interview on the stream.
“It’s the kind of game that myself and a lot of other people have always wanted to play in a multiplayer world.”
The long-awaited No Man’s Sky multiplayer content update, Next, will be available on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.

[h=1]No Man’s Sky Next trailer shows off multiplayer, space fleets and more[/h]

[h=2]Major overhaul for No Man’s Sky arrives next week[/h]

Hello Games will release a major update for No Man’s Sky next week that it calls No Man’s Sky “Next.” The Next iteration of the game will add a host of new features, including a “full multiplayer experience” that lets players team up with friends and interact with random space travelers; the option to play in first- or third-person view; and the ability to command fleets of ships as you explore the universe.
A new trailer for No Man’s Sky Next shows off those new features and more, including a massive boost to the game’s visual presentation. Compared to the No Man’s Sky’s debut trailer — today’s Next trailer is a nearly shot-by-shot recreation our first look at the game from 2013 — the game’s worlds and space settings look far more rich and detailed.
Hello Games’ Sean Murray pointed out, in an email to Polygon, a few things the trailer showcases:
Multiplayer
Team up with a small team of friends and explore the universe together, or be joined by random travelers. You can help friends to stay alive, or prey on others to survive. You can build tiny shelters or complex colonies that are shared for all players. Fight as a pirate or a wingman in epic space battles with friends and enemies. Race exocraft across weird alien terrains, creating race tracks and trails to share online. The character customisation allows you to personalise your appearance.
Visual Overhaul
The game is fully playable in third or first person, both on-foot and in a ship. New Planetary rings and improved space visuals make space more beautiful than ever. Dramatically improved planetary terrain generation, ground textures, water and clouds bring the environment to life. There’s also significantly more detail added to ships, NPCs and buildings.
Unlimited Base Building
Bases can now be built anywhere on any planet. Base building has dramatically increased complexity and size limits and we’ve added hundreds of new base parts. You can also own multiple bases.
Command Freighters
You can assemble and upgrade a fleet of frigates and command them from the bridge of your freighter. Send your fleet out to into the universe, or deploy them to help you as you explore a specific system. The improved freighter base building allows a truly custom capital ship. Invite your friends aboard and take on challenging multiplayer missions from the Galactic Commission Station on your bridge.
No Man’s Sky Next will be released for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One on July 24. The update will be free for owners of the game on PC and PS4. No Man’s Sky originally launched on Aug. 9, 2016.

I'm wondering if this is the right time to jump into this game. Seems the devs have been trying hard to redeem the game after the disastrous launch.

[h=1]No Man’s Sky update’s patch notes reveal free weekly events, new missions to come[/h]

[h=2]Version 1.5 brings the game closer to what we always hoped for[/h]

The biggest update ever for No Man’s Sky is available now, and patch notes for the game’s latest version detail at length just how much content it adds. Alongside the previously announced multiplayer features, third-person mode and expanded base-building options, come myriad other quality of life changes. And these are all just the start of more to come in the following weeks, Hello Games added.
“This update marks the two year anniversary of No Man’s Sky, and a lot has changed,” the developer wrote in the introduction to version 1.5, called Next.
“This is an important next step on our journey.”
The list of changes runs long. Take a look at some of the new things to expect from the Next update, below:
In-Game Community Content
• Soon after the release of No Man’s Sky NEXT, Hello Games has planned its first season of weekly content and community events.
• This will be free for all players, with no microtransactions. Take part in these community missions to unlock new rewards and customisations.
• Players will also be able to interact with Xbox One Mixer streamers by helping or hindering their gameplay.
Galactic Atlas Website
• NEXT marks the launch of a new website dedicated to the community, which we’re calling the Galactic Atlas.
• The site features points of interest in the No Man’s Sky Euclid Galaxy, and will grow in functionality and expand over time, in part through your feedback.
• Key Regional Hubs are marked, with discovery statistics and community events appearing soon
Community is a major focus of No Man’s Sky next phase, as made clear by the emphasis on new community missions, tools and weekly content. Multiplayer is the headlining addition to the game this time, too, and it’s the biggest sign that Hello Games wants to make No Man’s Sky a less solitary game. The developer notes that players will be able to travel through the game’s story cooperatively or on their own, for instance, alongside other online play and communication features.

Another important part of No Man’s Sky is exploration, and updates to the crafting and resource management systems should better that different experience.
Crafting and Resources
• All core substances and resources have been reworked and rebalanced to increase consistency and realism.
• Planetary resources have been expanded, with unique substances and items to find and refine based on the planet’s biome and weather, as well as stellar classification.
• Deployable tech can be picked up and carried in your inventory.
• Crafting is deeper with the addition of buildable refiners. Convert raw substances into more valuable materials for constructing advanced products and base parts.
• Experiment with refiner recipes to discover all the possibilities!
Procedural Tech
• Discover unique procedurally generated technology to upgrade your Exosuit, Multi-Tool and Starships.
Part of the fun of exploring No Man’s Sky’s quintillion planets is finding new species, both flora and fauna. They’ve been massively updated too, with a lengthy list of changes.

What the terrain looks like with the updated analysis visor. Hello Games/Sony Interactive Entertainment
Exploration, Fauna and Flora
• Find and excavate buried ruins with the Terrain Manipulator to unearth locked ancient treasures.
• Use the Terrain Manipulator to locate buried technology modules and turn the salvaged components into new base parts with the Blueprint Analyser.
• Some creature types will herd together, grazing and fleeing from danger as a group.
• Creatures now respond more enthusiastically to being fed, recognising you as a friend and alerting nearby creatures to the food source.
• Creature movements now appear more natural and intelligent, with improved AI and entirely revamped animations.
• Sentinel behaviours and animations have been improved. Players can stand their ground in combat, or take advantage of the time between reinforcement waves to escape and find a place to avoid Drone scans and searches.
As for all the visual, UI and base-building changes, you should check out the very long, very detailed list of patch notes on the No Man’s Sky website. Be patient with it, as it’s been bogged down with network traffic all day.

[h=1]No Man’s Sky save glitch is already fixed, but learn how to protect yourself today[/h]

[h=2]The fix already exists, just be careful[/h]

SomeNo Man’s Sky players are having issues with their saved games after the latest update, but it looks like the problem has already been fixed. In the short term, however, be careful if you run into this bug.
“A whole bunch of people, including myself, have run into a bug in Next that prevents you from loading an existing save file. Instead of putting you back into the game at the point you saved, the game simply restarts you on a new planet with the ‘Initializing’ white screen,” a player wrote on Reddit.
“Reloading does nothing,” they said. “The game shows the save time and the time played, but it simply loads to a new planet every time you try to load it.” The rest of the thread details possible fixes for the issue, but they may not be necessary.
The good news is that two updates have already been pushed to the experimental branch of the game on Steam, and these should fix the issues for most players.
“Fixed an issue where players who saved after partially repairing some items of technology would be unable to load that savegame,” Hello Games wrote in the patch notes. “Please note that if the game has not been resaved, then progress has not been lost and will be recovered.”
The patch will give live for all PC players “soon,” according to a tweet from Hello Games.
A new build has been sent to experimental on PC. This will go live to everyone on PC soon. Hot fix patches are in flight for PS4 and XBox (MS/Sony cert means this is a tiny bit slower, but will be with you asap) https://t.co/wm30JeWt5W
— Sean Murray (@NoMansSky) July 26, 2018
For now, update the game as soon as possible, don’t resave your game if you run into this issue and be careful if you have partially repaired parts.

[h=1]No Man’s Sky player is sharing 3.8 billion credits worth of gear with random strangers[/h]

[h=2]You get a Stasis Device, and YOU get a Stasis Device![/h]

One player in No Man’s Sky will soon set out with a shipload of the game’s most ludicrously valuable items. The plan? Drop them on unsuspecting travelers in multiplayer. At 18 million credits each, receiving even one or two items would be a big boost to those still plowing through the early portion of the game.
Redditor Long_Nose_Jim seems to have hit the motherlode. They’ve been able to build 215Stasis Devices, currently the most expensive item in the game. Each one is worth 18 million credits. Stacked five deep on their starship, that’s a stockpile worth more than 3.8 billion credits.
Now, they’ve decided to share the wealth.

Long_Nose_Jim via Reddit“Spent the last 2 weeks filling one of my haulers,” they write. “Now its [sic] time to give these all away!”
To put that into perspective, a middling freighter — a massive floating starbase that players can move around the universe with a fleet of support ships — will only run you around 30 million. A full load of Stasis Devices is good for about 125 of them.
No Man’s Sky has been glued to the Steam best-sellers list since late last month, when themassive Next update landed. Much of the in-game economy requires credits, which can be earned buying and selling resources found on planets. Another popular way to earn credits early on is to harvest alien eggs, but that process can be pretty dangerous.
As players progress, they unlock new hyperdrives that allow them to access unique star systems. Once there, you can build a base for fast travel. With a beachhead established, many players harvest rare resources to manufacture goods for sale at space stations. The most expensive goods require the scarcest resources, which in turn require the best engines to reach the most exotic star systems. Even then, prospecting will take a bit of patience and a lot of luck.
Bumping into someone like Long_Nose_Jim can solve that problem.
Check out the thread on Reddit, where it’s likely that some interesting tales will emerge as space Santa Claus makes his way around the galaxy.

[h=1]No Man’s Sky season one drops out of hyperspace today, with first batch of weekly content[/h]
[h=2]New cosmetic items are your reward for exploring this free content update[/h]

Today the team behindNo Man’s Sky launched its first batch of promised weekly content and community activities. Fans of the spacefaring game will now be able to participate in a new quest, and earn in-game cosmetic items for their effort.
Seasonal content was just one of the promised features enabled by Hello Games’ recent, game-changing update, Next. According to today’s announcement on the game’s official website, the first bit of No Man’s Sky season one will focus on Specialist Polo and Priest Entity Nada. It is only available to players who have unlocked one of the game’s three main quest lines, specifically the Space Anomaly mission in that series.

As expected, players will need to make their way to a specific section of No Man’s Sky’s massive galaxy. Once there, they’ll need to find certain underground objects. Only by returning them to Polo and Nada can the players earn rewards. For their efforts, players will be given Quicksilver, a new form of in-game currency that can be used to purchase cosmetic items.

Examples of the cosmetic items available for Quicksilver. Hello GamesThe first batch of items will include:

  • Six new base building parts;
  • Three decals;
  • A new emote;
  • And additional options for character customization.
Hello Games also said that more than 50 additional items will be added in the next few weeks, including exocraft and more customizations.
Other feature additions available today include an update of the Galactic Atlas, an interactive online map of the game’s massive galaxy. It now includes links out to the websites of fan-created communities. It also received a new discovery tracking system, which the developers say will allow groups of players to work together toward exploring entire regions of space. A leaderboard will also track players who manage to discover the most new planets and other in-game items.

[h=1]No Man’s Sky adds more underwater gameplay with The Abyss[/h]
[h=2]New biomes, more creatures, additional base-building options and several hours more narrative gameplay[/h]

Today the team at Hello Games is launching a massive new update for No Man’s Sky. Called The Abyss, it focuses on expanding gameplay in underwater environments.
Following the release of the Next update in July, Hello Games has rolled out a number of smaller updates, including additional cosmetic options, vehicles and more. The Abyss is, so far, the largest of those updates. According to a news release, it includes five new underwater biomes and a host of additional features to allow players to explore and inhabit aquatic environments.
“We wanted to focus on improving underwater,” said Hello Games, “and also on some of the eerier elements of the game for Halloween. Oceans were always vast in size in No Man’s Sky, but are now a huge, deep part of our gameplay.”
A trailer for The Abyss, also referred to as update 1.7, shows vastly expanded underwater environments. Hello Games said that it’s added five underwater biomes for players to discover and filled them with greater quantities of “more interesting” creatures. The video shows octopus-like aliens jetting around in the distance, but also a breed of monocular megafauna that appears is best avoided at all costs.

The Abyss will also add more options for base construction with over a dozen new parts for use exclusively under the oceans. The trailer shows long, transparent corridors that could be straight out of BioShock’s Rapture, while today’s press release makes mention of a “multistory submersible view dome.”
Of course, the starships in No Man’s Sky aren’t very much use underwater, so Hello Games is also adding a new vehicle, or exocraft, called the Nautilon. The submersible is fully upgradeable with a slate of purpose-built bits and will also include cosmetic options as well.
Rounding out the update are some mechanical improvements. Hello Games said that it’s completely reworked underwater movement, even adding a jetpack boost so that players can cover more ground on their own. They’ll need that speed to explore the game’s sunken ruins through and what it’s described as “several hours” of additional narrative gameplay.
The free update launches today for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. The release will also coincide with a 50 percent discount on all three platforms.
