From the sound of it, this is where Sam, and the player, go every time they die. But don’t make the mistake of calling this “game over.” When you die in Death Stranding, you’re transported to this purgatory, where you’re free to explore in first-person. Because of some mysterious “unique” abilities Sam possesses, you can wander outside of your body, recovering items among other things. As Kojima explains, “At that point, you’re not dead or alive. It’s the equivalent of that screen that says ‘Continue?’ and a counter ticking down towards zero.”

The focus of "First person" in the purgatory section makes it sound like the "normal" game will be TPS like Phantom Pain. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Kojima takes a LOT of cues from Phantom Pain's game play .. PP was an AH-MAZING playing game.

It reminds of me Soul Reaver when if you "die" in the physical world, you're taken to the spectral realm where you are able to find ways to get back to the real world.

This is the first time I liked this game. I feel the story is going to be a really moving one and hopefully it will be justly complimented by the gameplay. As for the gameplay at this point, hmm... not really sure what's going on, except that the guy is probably working with DHL superman services.

Actually there is. There was a brief moment in the trailer when Norman Reedus pulls out his assault rifle or whatever that was. But what i saw that the production level of this game is huge.

Personally, it was a little disappointing since they haven't shown what the actual gameplay is like. The pace at which development is going, this is probably going to be a PS5 launch title lol.

Really liked the atmosphere, though. Was almost like a Ridley Scott movie.

i liked it more yes but purely in terms of trailer vs trailer. Kojima really knows how to pull my strings in that regard

i think they showed some of the gameplay, the stealth segment near the end counts as gameplay rite? PS5 launch title would be too far

yeah the isolated and desolated world reminds me of Prometheus too. good to know there are female characters too

I think all the shots of Reedus walking in the vegetation or climbing were game play shots edited in a cinematic way. There were a lot of stilted animation shifts whenever the character would turn, those did not look like cut-scene mo cap style animations, but in-game one's.
