Finally a true sequel to COD4.This is what we want from a military shooter. I feel like it is 2007 again.

Plus those large maps are so reminicent of BF4 maps like Seige of Shanhai.Goes to show how far DICE has fallen.

[h=1]Call of Duty Modern Warfare has a wild easter egg: an Activision game console[/h]

Actibase console comes in 120 GB configuration

As you’re traipsing through the early goings of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, note the debris in the London electronics store. In this canon, Activision has released a console, and its controller is the most jacked-up take on a twin analog gamepad that you can imagine.
Meet the “Actibase,” which comes with a wireless controller, HDMI and AC power cables. Infinity Ward mocked up a console kiosk for the electronics store level, and so it needed a piece of hardware to fit the look. It’s doubtful that console partners Microsoft or Sony would want their merch shot up (much less presented next to a slew of dead bodies, which are off camera in our screenshots here).

Polygon screenshot via Infinity Ward/ActivisionThe packaging seems to show screenshots from past Call of Duty games (that appears to beInfinite Warfare at far left, and at far right, Call of Duty Dog from Ghosts, both Infinity Ward joints). But check out this decidedly unfunky controller.

Polygon screenshot via Infinity Ward/ActivisionFirst of all, the un-ergonomic layout of the face buttons is much worse than their roman numeralizing. Next, look at that D-pad. Safe to say this is not the console for the fighting games community. Speaking of ergonomics, how about the console’s big power button, just begging a curious household pet to disconnect you mid-match.

Polygon screenshot via Infinity Ward/ActivisionActivision was one of the first third-party console publishers, going back almost 40 years now, but never has the company had hardware ambitions. If the Actibase is any indication, it should stay that way. Nice destructible prop for an energetic shootout, but with only 120 GB aboard, it could hold maybe Modern Warfare and couple of arcade titles. SMH.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC

PS4 Pro uses a dynamic resolution with the lowest native resolution found being approximately 1388x1528 and the highest native resolution found being approximately 2716x1528. On PS4 Pro a form of temporal reconstruction is used that can increase the resolution above the natively rendered resolution. The maximum resolution that can be reached with this temporal reconstruction technique on PS4 Pro seems to be 2716x1528. The PS4 Pro appears to downsample from this resolution when outputting at 1080p.

Xbox One X uses a dynamic resolution with the lowest native resolution found being approximately 1920x2160 and the highest native resolution found being 3840x2160. On Xbox One X a form of temporal reconstruction is used that can increase the resolution above the natively rendered resolution up to 3840x2160.

PS4 uses a dynamic resolution with the lowest native resolution found being approximately 960x1080 and the highest native resolution found being 1920x1080. PS4 uses a form of temporal reconstruction that can increase the pixel count up to 1920x1080 when rendering below that resolution.

Xbox One uses a dynamic resolution with the lowest native resolution found being approximately 800x900 and the highest native resolution found being approximately 1600x900. Xbox One uses a form of temporal reconstruction that can increase the pixel count up to 1600x900 when rendering below that resolution.

Frame time spikes above 100ms can occur on all four consoles.
Another great performance analysis from VG Tech.

Wow, the frame times on Xbox One X and base Xbox One are off the charts lol. PS4 Pro is the most stable version followed by base PS4.

Finished the campaign. I have never felt more uncomfortable playing a game before. The shock value and sheer atrocities that I have seen in this game makes Mortal Kombat look like Mario.

And nobody told me it is actually a prequel to MW Saga. The way they tied everything at the end was superb writing.

Lot of missions were inspired from Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan Series on Amazon Prime.

That is a known issue indeed. Was playing the campaign this morning and textures weren't loading properly. The cutscenes sometimes have really low frame rates and the audio/video don't remain in sync as well.

Hot damn the PS4 Pro version of the game seems to be the clear standout.

Also, it's pretty damn evident the Mid-Gen consoles are the focus of development going by a lot of recent game outcomes.

Okey, a bunch of people have been praising this..

Am I seeing this right : A CoD game not getting bad press !!!
[h=1]Call of Duty: Modern Warfare review bombed over Russian portrayal[/h]

Consumers are lashing out, attacking the game on Metacritic

Just days after the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, some consumers are expressing anger at how Russian soldiers are depicted in that game. The most visible result of that anger is a so-called “review bombing” campaign currently underway on Metacritic, which has reduced Modern Warfare’s user-generated score to 2.4 on a scale of 10. Some commenters even accuse Infinity Ward of shifting blame, pinning historical attacks on Russia that were in fact the work of United States and Western powers in the Middle East.
“Disgusting Russophobic garbage, created only for one thing — stinking anti-Russian propoganda,” writes one reviewer on Metacritic, “which is now pouring out of all the ‘independent’ media on the orders of their Washington masters. 0/10.”
“Russophobia is not appropriate, ‘dear’ Activision,” says another. “There is no gray morality in this game, only bad Russians and good Americans. Can you show us hundreds of American war crimes all over the world in your next game?”
The plot of Infinity Ward’s latest first-person shooter does hang the blame for many of the injustices and war crimes in its narrative on Russian-flagged military forces. Those include regular Russian army troops and Spetsnaz special forces working under the game’s villain, Russian general Roman Barkov.
One of the most shocking levels in the game shows a Russian soldier under Barkov’s command invading the home of protagonist Farah Karim when she was just a child. That scene — which occurs during a Russian chemical weapons attack — shows Farah and her brother grappling with the soldier, disabling him with a screwdriver, and then killing him with his own rifle. The scene was so graphic, and the Russian in question such a grotesque caricature, that Polygon questioned it when shown the clip at this year’s E3.

As of publication nearly 1,200 users have piled on to reduce the score of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to 2.4. Metacritic

“That’s my fault,” said Joel Emslie, studio art director at Infinity Ward. “I’m to blame for the way that character looks. But what I was going for artistically was [...] we’re always trying to work for a cinematic experience. I’m trying to create something really memorable. And I kept thinking, metaphorically, these children are being chased by a monster in a maze, and I kept thinking a Minotaur. It’s ridiculous — but he’s almost robotic.”
Another scene raising eyebrows among commenters is from the second act of Modern Warfare, a level called Highway of Death. In it, players take on the role of a CIA operative embedded with a force of Middle Eastern militants from the fictional country of Urzikstan. The mission plays out as a last-ditch defense of a ruined village, with the player lobbing high-caliber rounds at range against human and mechanized targets.
Players are told that the Highway of Death is the result of a devastating Russian attack that happened decades ago, where Russian forces massacred everyone fleeing from a town under siege. But, counter some on Metacritic and elsewhere on social media, the “real” Highway of Death is the fault of American and Western forces in Iraq.
Of course, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a work of fiction. But it’s also worth noting that in the game’s cooperative missions — which carry forward the narrative of the single-player campaign — players will eventually become allied with the Russian military. Even at E3, developers from Infinity Ward stressed that it was important for them to show troops from every country in a nuanced and considered light.

Images captured by the United States Air Force show the destruction on the “Highway of Death” during the first Gulf War. The six-lane highway is markedly different physically from the small, rural road shown in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Photo credit: United States Air Force technical sergeant Joe Coleman via Wikipedia“What you’re seeing is a portion of one particular rogue general who you should think of kind of like Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now who goes off the reservation,” said Jacob Minkoff, single-player design director, during our E3 interview. “Ultimately, [Western forces] work with Russians to take him out, because he’s a problem. [...] The CIA and FSB [the Russian Federal Security Service] have to work together against this existential threat. So there is a very substantial portion of the game where we have this uneasy alliance and we are working alongside Russians, all the way up to their intelligence-gathering high command.”
But that kind of narrative flourish — which comes after the conclusion of the single-player campaign — has not stopped those angered by the portrayal of Russian troops from lashing out.
“The worst game of the year,” says one commenter. “It’s good that I managed to return the money. Russians always were the bad guys in previous CoD’s, but this time it’s out of any borders.”
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now on PlayStation 4, Windows PC via Battle.net, and Xbox One. In Russia, however, Sony will not sell the game through its online store. The announcement was made on Oct. 22, just days before the game was to go on sale there. At the time, Call of Duty’s official Russian Twitter account stressed that the game was a work of fiction.

This game may be fun, but they really dropped the ball with the maps this time 'round. They are so bland, basic and unmemorable.

I really dislike Piccadilly and Euphrates bridge. The rest of the mp maps are decent imo.
It's impossible to play Euphrates Bridge if the enemy team has the B flag.

The whole bridge is covered in snipers and you'll get killed as soon as you leave your spawn.

Only the first 5 minutes of the game are normal, after that whoever gets B has basically won the rest of the match.

[h=1]Modern Warfare had the best opening weekend for Call of Duty this generation[/h]

Activision is touting some impressive, but convoluted slightly numbers

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare topped $600 million in sales in its first three days of release,Activision said Wednesday morning, which makes this the highest-selling game in the Call of Duty franchise on this console generation.
The generation’s previous high watermark for the series had been 2015’s Black Ops 3, which saw sales totaling $550 million in its first three days. More recently, Black Ops 4 (2018) andCall of Duty: World War 2 (2017), both had sales of around $500 million in their first three days of release.
While Modern Warfare has sales numbers backing up its blockbuster status, it still isn’t the most successful entry in the Call of Duty franchise. Activision didn’t break out Modern Warfare’s first-day sales, but it’s a fair guess they didn’t beat Black Ops 2 in 2012, which sold a staggering $500 million in its first day of release. Modern Warfare 3, the year before, alsosold more than $400 million in its first 24 hours. Activision, in the past, has cited day-one sales when Call of Duty launched on a Tuesday; since the series has shifted to a Friday release, it has gone with three-day totals.
Activision also called Modern Warfare the series’ No. 1-selling PC launch of all time. While that may be true, it’s worth remembering that last year’s release of Black Ops 4 was the first time the series launched on Blizzard’s Battle.Net, and last year’s game seemed to be given more attention from developers than previous PC ports in the series.
Activision also said Modern Warfare is the highest-selling digital release in the company's history. Again, impressive statistic, but it also says more about a video game industry moving from physical media to digital distribution than it does about the popularity of Modern Warfare itself.
So soon into its launch, it’s hard to say exactly why Modern Warfare’s has had such a dramatic sales increase compared to other Call of Duty games this generation. But there are a few notable differences. Most significantly, Black Ops 4 didn’t feature a single-player campaign at all, while Modern Warfare has made that a highlight of the game’s experience.
It’s also worth noting that this is the first recent Call of Duty title to release without a season pass. Instead, Activision has said that future maps and weapons for the game would be free, and the battle pass that’s coming to the game in the near future will only include cosmetic items.

Quarter to Three - 4/10

A new Ground War mode sneaks in vehicles and Battlefield-ish maps with the promise of large-scale combined arms multiplayer warfare, but the illusion is shattered by the lack of destruction. Every time your Infantry Fighting Vehicle runs into a bit of scenery and stops dead in its tracks you’ll be reminded that this isn’t Frostbite.

In the campaign, white phosphorus is a horrific set-piece accompanied by screams and whimpers. That’s some heavy shit. In multiplayer, white phosphorus is a reward for competent play that brings high-fives and fierce guitar licks. That’s some badass shit, Bro! You can have this cake and you can eat it, Modern Warfare assures us. In past installments, this dissonance would be funny, but here, it’s another reminder that these are really two separate games, and never shall the twain meet.

[h=1]Modern Warfare’s infamous shotgun gets another nerf[/h]

The 725 is still too strong

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s 725 shotgun has plagued players since release. What should be a high damage short-range weapon is instead killing people from across the map, even after Infinity Ward tried to fix it. In the game’s latest patch, the developer is back at it with another nerf to the 725, along with a few other changes.
This time around Infinity Ward is trying to slow the 725 down by once again reducing its range. Hopefully this time the change will be enough to keep the gun out of literally every players’ hands. In other weapon news, the M4 is getting a toned down, with a greater hip fire spread and less headshot damage. Meanwhile the FAL will now aim down sights faster and have a little bit less recoil.
Another frequently-requested change that’s arriving with this patch is are adjusted footstep footstep sounds. In this patch, footsteps will always play when you’re crouched or aiming down sight, no matter how slowly you walk. On the plus side for stealthy players, you can now move just a little bit quicker while still using the walk sound effect, instead of having the louder running sound play.
For a look at all the changes coming to Modern Warfare as part of this update, you can see the full patch notes below.

[h=2]MODERN WARFARE NOV. 12 PATCH NOTES[/h]GENERAL FIXES:

 • More backend fixes to prevent crashes and improve stability across all modes and all platforms
Riot Shield:

 • Fix for a bug where a player using the Riot Shield would not take explosive damage during certain situations
 • Fixed an issue where the Riot Shield would stow on the players back when using Stim. (Tactical)
Footsteps:

 • Adjusted to always play walk footstep sounds when in ADS and crouch independent of speed
 • Increased the speed in which you can remain using the walk footstep sounds by slightly pressing on the movement stick
Challenges

 • General fix for the UI and Challenge state getting out of sync. We’ll continue to monitor and make additional fixes as needed in future updates
 • Fix for a challenge related error that could occur; DEV ERROR 5476
 • Fix for Mission Challenge description, “Get Kills with a Burst Weapons” being too vague.
Piccadilly:

 • Spawn tuning while playing TDM and Domination
 • Domination flag adjustments; B Flag is now near the busses instead of the center fountain
Weapons:

 • ARs: Minor hip spread adjustment
 • 725: Reduce range
 • M4: increase hip spread, decrease damage to the head
 • FAL: Reduced recoil, increased ADS speed
 • EB-14: Increase ADS speed
 • Miscellaneous ammo reserve adjustments upon spawning to be in-line with other weapons of their class
Special Operations:

 • Fix for a bug where a player using the Overkill perk with an SMG as their secondary would sometimes spawn without a primary weapon when joining a match in progress

One other major tweak the path supposedly made has been reducing footstep sounds when walking/crouching while aiming down sights. As has been the case with most footstep-related updates post-launch, the change is very subtle and hard to measure.

Footstep sounds are quieter when you’re crouch-walking at anything but the top speed, which is hard to consistently nail down in the heat of the moment, not to mention nearly impossible on PC using a keyboard.
https://www.vg247.com/2019/11/13/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-725-shotgun-nerf-actually-a-buff/

The left analog stick against a keyboard? Nope. The analog stick offers more precise control over your movement.
Yep to that as well. More bindable actions for instant execution and free flowing gameplay.

This is only advantageous for sports games and racing games in my experience.

Rented and played the campaign over the weekend. Turned out it was a much smaller campaign than the last few CoD games. It took an hour + to install and then download the 60GB required to play the single player, probably could have done 1/4th of the campaign in that duration and returned it earlier lol.

Anyway, it looked/played like a typical CoD game. The night vision missions were the highlight.

Ultra realism.
