Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (2017)

~ "Gun, Keys, Run."

If it isn't obvious already, i'm neck deep in love with Wolfenstein Series. The New Order and The Old Blood have been a satisfying experiences in the past. And i expected Wolfenstein 2 to outperform everything. I'm going to break it down and see if it really did.

I LOVED:
+ Recap of events.

+ Gameplay: Still fun as ever. Maybe it's just me but the Enemy AI felt a bit too aggressive, especially the big guys and the drones. Kinda adds to the challenge without really ruining the gameplay. I liked it.

+ 18+: Explicit, gangsta, motivating;; leaves little to imagination and it feels gooooood lol. Excited Anya never felt so mesmerizing haha. "Your voice anya, Every second a glory." Yep, 'tits up' glory, if you know what i mean. :angel3:

+ Music: Some of the soundtracks were just jaw droppingly mesmerizing. (Like, 'Reunion' Chapter). And singing by Sigrun. 'Mond Mond, Ya Ya'. Huge laughs to be had. Hehe.

+ Characters:
Caroline was by far the strongest character in the game, after BJ, Anya and Fergus. Loved her 'Da'at Yichud Power Suit'. Incredible fun playing the game with it.
Sigrun was the funniest. Her interaction with her Mother (Helga), and basically all other characters were extremely enjoyable, lol. Those 'slaps' are still memorable. :D
If you spend some time in the Headquarters, you will see some pretty darn amusing interactions with most characters.
+ Hitler: THE most well done part of this game. Totally Exceptional. (Would kill for a sequel focusing on Hitler).

+ Chapters Setup: Some of the setups were outright fascinating. 'Texas level at BJ's home', and 'Courtroom Drama'. Oh my God the cinematography was heart touching in some moments.
+ Events: Like, that surprise birthday party. haha. Oh it was fun. :laugh1:
+ Ending: Extremely satisfying.
+ Length of Game: I have no regrets. Unlike previous "The Old Blood", this is fairly long and briefly explains many of it's key story elements. There is 'enough' to do, from collecting cards, golds and killing those Ober Commanders.
+ DLCs have been highly entertaining. Agent Silent Death's sexy voice had me hooked with her story. Captain Wilkins was a funny f*cker.

I DIDN'T LOVE (kinda):
- Weapons. Can't remove/install suppressors on the go? What the heck? Also, again, the Variety was very disappointing. I dearly missed a Sniper Rifle, or having more than one option of Grenades or Pistols.
- Performance issues. Really frustrating. FPS drops, stuttering, and what not. What the f*ck happened with this one, MachineGames?
- Black lady. Too hardcore, i guess? Or maybe it's just me.

Overall, the sheer enjoyment and excitement with Wolfenstein 2 was strong. As with previous Wolfenstein games, i cannot have enough of it. And would most certainly buy the next game. This is a successful franchise which i won't mind getting milked for our pleasure. There are so many possibilities for next sequel. I hope Young Blood (the next game) doesn't disappoint and at least cover on the Weapons aspect of the game. 9/10

So the interesting thing is, that my colleague was the Lead Game Designer for Quantic Dream for 10 years ( so Heavy Rain, Beyond and Detroit ) so it was basically I got to play that game with the guy who literally designed that game along with david cage..

NEED FOR SPEED: PAYBACK (2017)

~ Payback's a b*tch ... like this game ...

I may come off a hypocrite, having enjoyed this game a lot, yet still choose to talk sh*t about this game. But it's because I'm concerned about the direction of NFS franchise.

I never finished the 2016 game because it was so crap that i couldn't handle it. Pun is definitely intended. Bad handling cars, hard to drift, and far too challenging to play because of performance issues. And let's not forget the piece of sh*t requirement of "always online". I have NEVER left any game mid way in my life, and have always finished what i started, except this ONE, 2015/2016 Need for Speed. And to this date, i am unable to get myself to play it again, just to finish the story at least. I just can't. It's THAT bad.

Thankfully, Payback solves A LOT of those issues and i can't appreciate Ghost Games enough for that. Offline, 60fps, Improved cars physics ... it was good enough to let me finish the game with a grace. So it was definitely a fun ride. However, here are my brief impressions for the game.

WHAT'S ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT:
+ Missions Variety: Speed traps, drift points, coins, billboards, jumps; totally burnout-esque. No sh*t.
+ Off Roading: I mentioned this separately because this really was the most fun of all, after Speed Cross. Provided you get the right car to race.
+ Roaming Racers: I'm glad that it has been brought back from NFS Most Wanted 2005. Great fun to find these suckers and beat them (Most fun i had was with Natanova from The Club). It gets really challenging once they reach their highest level (3 stars). Playing dirty gets the job done, lol. PIT maneuver their asses :laugh1:
+ Derelict Cars: Nice touch. While it's really a challenge to get all those parts to finish a build, it's great fun finding them. The final builds are just too cool to have.
+ Cars Variety: Huge collection of cars. 70+ cars are a lot to handle, seriously. (more on that below).
+ Music: Groovy. I fall in love with it easily, everytime, with every single NFS game. (Evolution, Gravedigger, Gamble; to name a few.)
+ Visuals: Fortune Valley is absolutely stunning, ravishing, gorgeous, sexy, and freakin' amazing.
+ Roaming Area: Gorgeous environments and tremendous area to cover. Off Roading has been extremely fun.
+ Plot: Yep, definitely a high budget movie-like. Ending really leaves you on a surprising note. I liked it, kinda. (More on that below).
+ Characters: The House, Weis, The Curator, Jess, Tyler, Mac.

WHAT'S ABSOLUTE F*CKFEST:

* Progression system. We just can't have better cars until we reach final chapter. Access to variety is so severely blocked, that it's immensely frustrating. 90% of the game was played with Eddie's Nissan GTR R34, which i upgraded to max, later in the game. (For those who don't know Eddie is from 2015/2016 game's main character.) I couldn't get many newer cars because of shortage of funds, which were extremely hard to acquire. Side Bets did help in getting more money, but not enough to actually earn a lot.
* Koenigsegg Regera, The lead car of the game, so beautiful and supposedly the fastest, wasn't even available until the end. The Green/Silver Mustang we saw in Trailers and used in some missions, are never provided to us anywhere during the game. Instead, a similar 'looking' car can be bought from Garages, without any performance upgrades. The cars which were granted to us after some successful event, had just the vinyls and colors applied to it, and all it's performance mods stripped off of it.
* I defeated so many racers, bosses, and couldn't get even win a single car from them for free. The final race in the series, for which we did everything, spent millions of currency, gives us what? Some 20k in Cash? Well, F*CK YOU EA. F*CKIN' PIECE OF SH*T MORONS.

WHAT'S JUST BAD:

- Engine Sounds: Maybe it's just me, but cars sound weird. It's like they have messed with the original sounds. Games like NFS: The Run had cars with much much better sound.
- Customizations of Cars: Maybe other people would love that 'cool looking transitions' but i have hardly used it two or three times. It's just slow, cumbersome and not at all intuitive. Looks way too cool, though.
- Damage of Cars: Visual damage is just not visible. It's toned down by A LOT, and replaced by dirt and scuffs only. Would love to see some proper damage, like hanging bumpers or mirrors etc.
- Cars Classes: Oh i hate it with a passion. Need 'Drift' car for said event, and vice versa for other classes (Speed Cross, Drag, Race etc.) Most new cars were a hit or miss. Only a handful were actually good enough performers for a particular deal.
- Free Roam: Came after a brief delay, in a recent update, at a time when most would have already lost interest. (I finished the game in June 2018.)
- Police: Heavily scripted. Rhino Units, Road Blocks, EMP ... that's about it. No dropping barrels out of a chopper stuff. Once again, Police is just not threatening. Plus, it's ironic to see all high tech stuff, yet we hardly have any way to fight back, except to Outrun them. Which we can't do because they always catch up even with cars not meant to go 300+kph. And is it just me, or is there no police during Free Roaming the city?
- Ending: Hardly answered any questions, Never faced 'The Collector' himself, and Whatever the heck is 'Arkwright'.

So, here is the thing. I'm a sucker for Racing Games. I own ALL of the Need for Speed games. Played and Loved every single one of them, despite their shortcomings. And i have the time of my life playing these. So when i see sh*t like these in recent video games, it only makes me sad about the future of Racing Games.

Payback, despite it's shortcomings, was really an enjoyable experience. Lighter tone of races, fun chatter of characters, wide variety of stuff to do and just the beauty of the game in general; it's a great experience. If nothing else, this was a redemption from previous 2015/2016 game. And that's a really good thing. 7/10. I would love to rate it higher. But the annoyances are far too many look the other way.

Just finished this beauty. One hell of a game. Everything in this game was just amazing, from story line, characterization, emotions ahh man it was just awesome. Took my sweet time finishing this one. Though never been much of a side quest guy still managed to do some. Treasure hunting was fun rather than being a chore (at least for me). However as opposed to the 10/10 rating being given to this game, I'd slightly disagree not because they didn't do it perfectly but because (in below spoiler)
Spoiler: show

Was hoping to have a boss fight with Odin or Thor at the very least, but the only the lesser characters in Norse mythology served as the bosses. Plus the ending and absence of Odin/Thor & other realms being locked like Asgard/Vanaheim etc. kinda left some gap

Over all I'd rate this game a solid 9/10. I think there me be DLC or another sequel coming some time later to either continue the story line or fill in the gaps. The experience of this game just reinforced my belief that getting a PS4 was the best effing choice.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole (2017)

Took me about 20 hours to finish it. Not as great as The Stick of Truth but still an enjoyable experience if you're a fan of South Park.

What I Liked:

-The turn-based Combat system has been improved greatly. There is more depth and strategy to the fights. Makes it more fun.

-Character customization is deeper as well. And there are more ways to interact with the environment.

- The map is larger, so more places to explore in South Park.

-Graphically, it looks great. Even more refined that The Stick of Truth and again makes you feel like you're playing a season of South Park.

-The superhero parody story fits nicely with the current superhero dominated cinema. And I always enjoyed The Coon and Friends stuff, so it was great having to control all of that like it was great having to control the medieval fantasy stuff in Stick of Truth.

-Some nice difficulty bumps here and there that give more of a challenge, especially with some boss fights.

What I didn't like:

-I wish there was more of a challenge as aside from a few bumps in difficulty, it was easy on Normal/Heroic difficulty.

-The story as a whole was underwhelming. Stick of Truth was better easily. The writing wasn't as good, the jokes, the climax, the ridiculousness, all of it just seemed toned down. Not horrible and definitely enjoyable, but still underwhelming.

-The ending was anti-climatic. Game sorta ends quickly instead of giving you a proper climax.

-Since this covers more content from the last several seasons, the PC culture and SJW stuff, while fun at first, got old soon. I wish more stuff from past seasons was incorporated too.

-Nothing like the "Canada" portion of the first game here along with other raunchy stuff that makes Fractured Butt Whole feel tamed and less in content.

-Additions like having buddy powers to solve puzzles were fun at first but the game never explores that properly and pretty much every puzzle is easy and it gets repetitive later on because of that.

Overall, I enjoyed it. I love South Park, and The Stick of Truth is one of the best cases of using a license properly. So it was gonna be hard to top it. But I'm glad Fractured But Whole still gives the fans enough to have an enjoyable time for about 15-25 hours, depending on your playstyle. The novelty of having to play a game like this for the first time cannot be replicated so that obviously had an effect on my enjoyment too. If I were to rate it, I'd probably give it 7.5 - 8/10.

P.S Like the previous game, no point in playing it if you haven't seen South Park. You might still enjoy it but you'll miss more than half of the fun.

yes the difficulty setting is great in this one .

Overall for me Shadow of the tomb Raider was the best in the Trilogy.

Rise of The Tomb Raider (2015)

Rise of the Tomb Raider follows the 2013 reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise and is about Lara trying to find a hidden city that might hold the secret to immortality, something that her father was obsessed with. Now, I used to love Tomb Raider games back in the day and I loved the 2013 reboot. Sure it was different but I enjoyed it a lot and the game felt like it was a proper way to bring back Lara in current times. So I was highly excited to finally dive into Rise.

Graphics: The game is beautiful. From the textures to the lighting, they definitely bumped it up from 2013. Several different locations throughout the game and many of them make you pause and look around for a bit, especially thanks to that long draw distance (taxing on PC, tho). They gave Lara more animations so she reacts to the environment in subtle ways that increase immersion. You get the occasional janky animation sometimes while jumping or climbing etc but for the most part, they did a great job.

Lara's character model has been changed. It looks more similar to her voice actor now as opposed to the model back in 2013. If you are jumping into Rise straight from the previous game, the difference might be jarring. I liked the 2013 model and I liked this one too. This one does feel more natural while the 2013 one was more cute I guess.

Sound: Voice acting from Camilla Ludington (Lara's voice actor) was good, like the previous game, with some improvements. But it still can be a lot better. The writing certainly doesn't help. It's not horrible, but I was surely wishing for Naughty Dog to jump in and take over in a lot of scenes.

The environmental sound design was great. And so was the music. The main theme was properly reused again which was awesome. Weapons, on the other hand, were ok. Among other things, I wish they had more oomph to them.

Gameplay: The shooting, the climbing, the movement, it all feels pretty much the same to the previous game with some tweaks here and there and some additions to make you traverse the world easily. And it's still fun. You get to explore a lot more here with several locations acting as open worlds where you can find collectibles, hunt for items for crafting which has been improved a bit giving you more motive, and raid Tombs. Tombs were way too easy, though. It was fun seeing their locations but it would have been better if they were harder and also that you get to keep some special artifact from that Tomb in a collection or something, examine etc.

There are also some side missions from NPCs in the open areas. And while that does give you more to do, I wish there were some story heavy ones instead of the usual "Bring this, do that etc".

Story: This is where this game truly lacked for me. 2013 one had this interesting and mysterious story and all the while you're turning into the Tomb Raider. It had good pacing (for the most part). Here, the story starts out great with potential but the pacing drags on and it just kinda ends in a rushed way. It also has some similar beats that just make it less mysterious. And because of that, everything else the game had was somewhat lessened.

It took me about 14 hours to finish it, and that's only because I was dicking around in the early parts of the game exploring and whatnot as I was interested in the story as well as the world. But as the game progressed, I got less and less invested and ultimately just wanted to see how it ends, which turned out to be meh. The last boss bottle was really disappointing.

There was some cool stuff in the story and things that intrigued me, tho. Wish they emphasized on that more. Not a shitty story, but nothing great either. Serviceable for the game but I wish it was better.

Overall: I had fun. It was a good sequel (not great IMO) to 2013 Tomb Raider. If you like/love Lara Croft and enjoyed the 2013 game, this is definitely a must play. A good story would have been great but maybe, and hopefully, Shadow of the Tomb Raider fixes that.

And if I were to rate it, I'd give it 7.8-8/10.

SPIDER-MAN 2018 had better story han most or all the spiderman movies combined.

it was executed perfectly and very maturely.

i wasn't fan of spider-man games nor i had interest to play this one but

this was the most surprising game for me this year and definitely in my top list for the year 2018.

so i haven't really finished the evil within one yes very late i know a ps3 era game on the ps4 and all and well i started it and felt bad i mean ofcourse after playing god of war and the likes this wouldn't even come close the low fps and sneaky gameplay etc but eventually after the 4th stage it got better but story is messed up until now but i can make bits and pieces etc. the whole survival thing is good though the scarce ammo and health always on low is good :D keeps you on the edge.

ended DMC 5

well tbh this games story was pretty darn weak if i say so myself comparing dmc 1 and 2 etc.. dmc 3 even. four was good as well but somehow this one feels very weak and the whole pov thing from other characters missions etc was also something the game dragged a bit to make the game look longer. this game is well at most 10 levels at best.

now coming to the part nero and v were ok v's whole pets who kill was annoying a bit but was good for combos.

dante was the main man again here, his weapons from all over the dmc series and the combos we could make easily could do SSS on him with combos.

so the end takes us back to vergil kinda being the anti hero he was and so on.

hoping we get to play dmc 6 with dante and vergil both.
