Doom has a story? I heard it was a mindless shooter only like serious sam, abobobilly
The plot isn't an elaborate one per se, more like a 'supporting reason' to make a DOOM Remake. Our Doom Marine is basically thrown in a war zone, without any backstory whatsoever, but some part of the backstory slowly unravels throughout the gameplay. However, the plot is definitely there, keeps you entertained, hooked, and even curious. From start to finish, you are thinking of Olivia and Hayden's motives, always having a doubt who to trust.

I, for one, really really enjoyed it. The ending was so simple, and to the point, that it begs for another sequel. And i hope they do, because Hayden's character is very explore-able.

HITMAN SEASON 1 (2016)

Hitman has come a long long way. Just look at this new game. It's nothing like we have experienced before. I like it. There is a distinct plot, which keeps you curious till the end ... and yes it has definitely kept me hooked, even anxious for the next episodes. Vast variety of cool Disguises ads to the stunning visuals along with the drop dead gorgeous, breath taking, stunningly exotic locations (Sapienza, Marrakesh, Bangkok, Colorado, especially Hokkaido). I absolutely LOVE the fact that the plot is hiding a lot of magnificent pieces of Intel. Exposing targets with their 'secrets' and then killing them ... now that's cold. In every mission, you can waste like, an hour, or more, just to hear the complete stuff targets have to say. Like, you don't want to miss those details. And i didn't.

So this is the 'all new' Hitman. I understand the massive work developers have put in it, but apparently they failed to put any soul in it. I feel there is far too much missing, to actually be able to relate to Agent 47. So, oncoming is a barrage of complaints, nostalgia, and opinions.

Agent 47's Character itself has improved too much, except for the physical appearance of Agent 47, which has become nothing but awry. Agent 47 is now presented like a God of Death, unbeatable, relentless cold blooded killer. He 'looks' all those things now, but he barely 'feels' like one. There is no class, no flashy expensive looking suit, no stylish walk and above all ... no "Ave Maria (by Daniel Perret)" to support the killing nature. Just go back to Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, and you will see a character, visually stunning to look at. With a walk to die for, a suit to kill for; someone with a hi-tech hide out, a wall for Weapon Collections, and a Shooting Arena to mess around and test different weapons ... like in Contracts. (There is a training mission in Hitman Season 1, but that's not what i am talking about.)

Now, Missions are becoming more attractive, Maps are becoming much larger with mind boggling detail and content rich, Targets are becoming more high profile, and there are too many options available to assassinate a target ... Except for the iconic Sniper Rifle. Where is our W2000? Where is the bombastic 50 Cal? Heck, where the f*** are the iconic Silver Ballers? At least give the ability to do akimbo weapons with ANY one handed weapon. Fiber Wire kills are not satisfactory. Have a look at previous games. Silent Assassin, Contracts, Blood Money ... ranging from tame, to most aggressive, Fiber Wire had so many different 'satisfactory' moves. Drowning people in their own piss & sh*t in their toilets have been fun, though :D

Anyone noticed how i didn't mention Hitman: Absolution? Well, this 2016 game, makes Absolution feel like a much better game overall, but even that wasn't the best iteration. In my play through, this game forces you to do 'accidental kills', which seem to be more rewarding as well. You just can't do a run and gun even if you wanted to, because the game isn't designed that way. Entering a crowded area isn't as fun as it was in Hitman: Absolution, because you can no longer push people away, but it's still an experience, nonetheless automated. Diana Burnwood now looks even more sexy, now that we had seen her bosoms ... in Absolution :p Plus, i absolutely LOVE the fact that she is much more involved and in-touch than ever before. Unlike Sam Fisher (Michael Ironside) from Splinter Cell, i really REALLY respect that they kept the same voice actor (David Bateson) for Hitman.

Bottom Line, well, here is the thing. Anyone who has read my previous posts regarding Hitman, knows that all my complaints have been the same since ... well, Blood Money or Absolution. But no matter how evolved this franchise becomes, this won't mean anything if we can't feel a connection with Agent 47. I deeply respect the level of detail, dedication and effort put into Hitman 2016, BUT ... one reason i will never buy this game. "Online Only" feature. The single f*cking thing ruining the PC Gaming for ALL of us. I did the worst mistake purchasing the Need For Speed (2016), and i will not buy this game for exactly this reason. Bottom line, I like this game, but i don't Love it. To me, this is just another Hitman: Absolution, with some improvements and a bit of wow factor. But it can never match a true Hitman game, like the older games. 7/10

Finished Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Not very long but extremely fun and engaging like the rest of the series. Some great action set pieces, amazing visuals and great characters. Didn't even feel the absence of Nathan Drake. A great game.

My God the story was utter shit. Such wasted potential in what looked like a promising premise in the beginning. Not a single memorable moment in any main quest or any half decent supporting character (Sylens was annoying af). The game is really poorly written and voice acting ranges from decent to laughably bad in serious moments. Weak storytelling relying almost entirely on audio logs and holograms. The world is dull and boring beyond words. Theres literally no incentive to explore, and none of your actions leave any meaningful impact on the world. Side quests are generic (didn't complete all). Errands, Hunting Grounds have you doing more of the repetitive killing for XP. Cauldrons was decent diversion but I never really made use of the override feature in combat so left the rest of them. The game lacks in quality and quantity of content. It doesn't do anything better than other open world action adventures, let alone the RPG behemoths.

Combat itself has issues (which I mentioned in the OT) and the core mechanics are below average. If they were any better, the fights with human enemies would be better as well but they bring the whole experience down due to poor encounters at frequent intervals and stupid AI. Final battle was lazy...throw all machines at the player and see what sticks. Not to mention the frame rate comes to a crawl. What saves the padded 25hours campaign from total failure is the brilliant machine design and even though most of them can be easily taken down by Hard point and Fire arrows, focusing on their core components adds a much needed layer of depth in the combat. But that doesn't ultimately elevate a middling open world experience since outside of those few moments, the rest of the game is a haphazard mess of better open-world games that came before it.

Can't really commend Geurilla Games for a first attempt as well. Naqal ke liye bhi aqal chahiye as they say. They have their work cut out for them for an eventual sequel.

I don't know man, I got really bored with the game. To the point that I wasn't having a good time. On paper, it check marks all the right notes to be intriguing, but the execution was quite poor. Outside of a few high moments, it was just a chore to play. It was a forgettable, run of the mill open-world game.

QUANTUM BREAK (2016)

"The past is set, the future isn't."

Ah, the perfection. From 'Genre-defining game changers', Remedy. Emotional, blockbuster, story tellers from the heart, making the franchises that last. Creators of freakin' gems, Alan Wake, Max Payne ... One of THE best games ever made, and one of my all times favorites. With not a single damn thing wrong with any of them. The narrative, story telling, music, story, characters, gameplay, visuals, i.e. a master pieces. Unique style, presentation, and characters just makes Quantum Break yet another masterpiece from Remedy. Better, improved and just so BEAUTIFUL. A name enough to melt your brain. Characters to feel emotional. Actors playing their absolute best. A script, which drills down your heart. And a gameplay, which may seem ordinary but is nothing like we have experienced before.

My initial thoughts, "Oh wow, it's one expensive ass mo-fo game." "Wait, is that even a game"? But later everything changed. And i fell in love. I must admit that it's more of a movie, or TV show, than a game. But the more you delve inside it's story, characters, heck, everything ... only then you'll realize its magnificence. There is mind boggling amount of information spread around. If you skip even one note, you have basically missed a crucial element of the Quantum Break universe. It's by far the ONLY game where i have read each and every collectible found throughout the game, and repeated multiple missions and junctions, just to unlock the FULL detail on it's plot. Let's not forget the over the top Bruce Living Stone "My Screenplay - TIME KNIFE". hahaha. Some writing there. Also, Alan Wake easter eggs in Quantum Break universe felt nostalgic.

The actors are just outclass. Aidan Gillen as Paul Serene just won my heart. So badass, so pure. Beth just screamed for emotional attachment. Her Notebook and Journal provide some deep insight to plot and key events, and probably the only character after Paul Serene which i deeply rooted for throughout Quantum Break. And the way this game connects different timelines and characters, is just amazing. Gotta hand it out to these people. Making the narrative as smooth as possible so we can comprehend it easily. The plot isn't as complex and it looks, but if you're not paying attention, it's very easy to get lost in translation.

Performance wise, This thing is a resource eater. On a GTX780, i was hardly getting 15fps on maximum detail. So had to dumb a lot of stuff down. Lightening and Particle Effects are one of the best in industry, and time fractures are pure eyegasm. Time Powers are fun to use, and they just work. Decent amount of weapons variety and thankfully, not so dumb AI.

Overall, i am deeply impressed. Or maybe i'm just die hard Remedy fanboy. 9/10. Love this game so much that i wouldn't think twice to add it to my collection.
An interactive movie is what it felt to me.

Finished Wolfenstein 2. Man I never thought the remakes are going to be this good. Some top notch story and acting in there. The visuals literally blew me away. The attention to detail is really appreciable. Can't wait for the third game in the serious already :p

Finished Wolfenstein 2 over the weekend. Pretty sure I am in the minority here but I didnt enjoy the first reboot of the series (New order) back in 2014 so i didnt really have high hopes for this one. But Machinegames completely took me by surprise with wolfenstein 2. Crazy writing, great pacing, excellent characters, spot on sound design and great action. Pretty much everything with the game was superb. I generally do not enjoy FPS campaigns as they get monotonous very soon, but I am so glad that this one will stick around with me for a while. A new bench mark for FPS campaigns.

Xenosaga Episode 1.

Even by early 2000's standards, this is a very lackluster RPG. Some good concepts, like future proofing a 3 part series but generally this came after FFX. Standards were already much higher by this point.
