Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
After UC4 this was bound to happen to me.

Story/Game-play:

The story was good starting with a treasure hunt right off the bat and linking the protagonist with historical ties to the treasure made it interesting and kept things curious. The light chemistry in works between Elena and Nathan kept it interesting.
I'd say IMHO the game-play was basic not too many options when it came to weapons but I guess can't really hold it against them since the game was the first of a franchise and circa '06. The monotonous enemy soldiers and gun fights became a drag at the end and not much to look for.
Spoiler: show
The slightly horror element due to the those mutations kept one on the edge however they weren't much difficult to kill.

The AI of the enemy soldiers isn't really something to write about - basic/bore.
Spoiler: show
End boss fight was somewhat challenging and the twist was good

Graphics:

The remaster graphics were nothing to boast about but hey it's a remaster can't really blame them. The static seas whilst climbing, they also had a grid lines visible, I suppose they should have reworked that on the PS4.

End Note:
The repetitive soldier fights and the dumb AI kinda started to make the game more like a chore but the story, exploration and the relation between the main charactors kept the story live. I'd rate it 7.5/10 on the whole and a good experience. For those who think why all this long story on an old game, well this is the first time I have ever owned a PS console so bear with me :p :laugh1:

Right now working my way through "Among Thieves" :drake:

Haven't finished it yet but currently playing through Dead Rising 4 Deluxe Edition (PC, includes all DLC).

It's .. not as bad as everyone makes it sound. After a bunch of serious ass RPGs like Trails of Cold Steel 2, Lost Sphear etc , I needed a palette cleanser and a dumb game like this can often have it's uses, this being one of them. Not liking that they didn't bring back the original Frank West voice actor or even the really good similar sounding one from Dead Rising 2: Off the Record.

But, ah well. It's a fun mindless game. It does that very well.

+Interconnected level design
+Great atmosphere
+Satisfying to take down enemies
+Great sense of exploration

+/- Combat only marginally faster than Souls, fundamentally still the same (animation priority)

-One-note gameplay from start to end
-Annoying camera issues, leading to plenty of cheap deaths
-Transformed weapon attacks too slow and sluggish
-Dumbed down customization and build variety
-Tedious Blood Vial system (granted I only had to farm a couple of times or so)
-UI could be much improved
-Rehash boss fights
-lolwut story
-Poor performance
-Loading screens galore

All in all, I still liked it. However, From Software desperately needs to rework their game engine.

Just finished Prey (2017).

For me this is definitely the most underrated game of 2017. This had been sulking in my back log for a few months now and the not so awesome reviews just killed the mood to play this game early on. But I started this around a couple of weeks ago and after the initial 1 hour or so i just couldn't put the controller down. The game is like a mixture of Bioshock, Psi-ops, Dead Space (1&2) Dues Ex and part Dishonored and I am big fan of all of them. The Semi-RPG elements especially the ones that help you get the some superb power ups like Telekensis and the Kinectic energy are a blast and that is one of the reasons how the game encourages exploration that in turn reward you with Neuromods to upgrade your character. The secondary objectives are while not so grand in nature do require imagination and are varied enough not to make the game a bore-fest. The sound design and environment is spot on and seamlessly fits in with the survival horror nature of the game. The story does a decent enough job to keep you interested in the game, there are twists and turns that may often confuse you and i think during the roughly 20 hour campaign there wasnt a point where i just wanted to rush in and finish the game.

There were definitely a few things that I didnt like about Prey. The first and foremost being the constant barrage of loading screens. This especially annoys you in the later half of the game when you have run back and forth from one area to another and these long load screens really turn you off. I also thought that the melee combat was mediocre but thanks to the Kinetic powers this really is not a big annoyance. The level design itself was also a let down especially when compared to Deus Ex and Dishonored where there are multiple ways of finishing an objective. And lastly the multiple endings was a big let down in the sense that they dont necessarily differentiate much from one another and the overall ending is also quite abrupt.

Overall I really enjoyed my time with the game. A good chunky 20 hour campaign and if i had to rate it i would give it 8.5 / 10.

Just finished AC: Origins. Apart from the nostalgic soundtrack and a couple of good moments in the game, there was nothing special to talk about. After the first couple of hours, it was more of a journey to end the game rather than enjoying it. It deviated from the main story a lot.At some points I actually forgot what the whole purpose of it was. :p . It was far better than AC: Syndicate and AC: Unity even that had some good moments in the game. For me the best storyline and gameplay in the entire AC franchise is still AC:2 with expansion packs, Nothing beats it. I might revisit the game again in 4K 60fps......

+ Stunning visuals. Added weather effects and destruction fixes my biggest complaint of static-feeling environments in previous games
+ Fantastic gunplay. Refined movement ensure Gears is still the benchmark for TPS gameplay mechanics (followed by ME: Andromeda, Max Payne 3 and Quantum Break)
+ Challenging AI encourages teamwork, and friendly AI does a good job at reviving team mates
+ Some amazing set pieces in the later half of the campaign
+ PC version done right (minus no split-screen Horde Mode on PC)
+ Campaign doesn't overstay its welcome, however, ....

- ...there are still some pacing issues (first half is quite boring) and the game ends abruptly
- Generic new characters (Cringe-worthy dialogues and humor)
- Uninteresting story.
- Level design still feels too restrictive

Did you shoot all of Dom's tomatoes ?

And yes, one of the most well optimized games of recent times. My gaming laptop ran it at 1440p/60fps with most settings high and ultra, i-e better than an Xbox X.

Nah. Just YouTubed it... Marcus’s rant and tomato grenades...thats hilarious

That .. and there's one random part where some of the enemies are busting through a door and the black guy (Del ?) just goes "come innnnnnn". I laughed at that.

The game has it's moments and is a great start of a new trilogy (if that's the plan).

Ubisoft just trying to milk the franchise now. There is so little emphasis on the main story (out of animus). Every new AC game is more about the Assassin's story now.
Nothing much different from a sports series like FIFA/NBA now  Last game I enjoyed was Black Flag. But still the game lost its charm in the story factor after Ezio trilogy.
AC III was a new fresh step towards better graphics and gameplay, liked it's story but from there on everything started to get more and more disconnected from the previous series.

Sad to say but a great video game series that was supposed to be releasing sequels to advance the story has turned into a bunch of standalone releases.

Halo Wars Definitive Edition (2016)

Halo+RTS...AWW YISS!

After having played the main FPS games, it feels awesome to control all the vehicles and soldiers in an RTS style, fighting against those pesky Covenant, and the annoying AF The Flood. A decent story if you're a fan of Halo. Nice graphics and cinematic cutscenes for an RTS. Great soundtrack.

I loved how you again get the feeling of why Spartans were the best hope for Humanity. Those units were OP AF, made ODSTs feel like children in comparison. And the occasional use of the main theme/Halo Choir...CHILLS!

Reminded me a lot of Terrans gameplay from Starcraft 2. Like The Flood felt like The Swarm, several of the vehicles felt similar to the one you get on the Terran side etc. Not as good, of course, but it was still fun.

If you like Halo and RTS games and haven't tried this yet, give it a shot.

Final Fantasy XV:

Just finished FF XV today, my first ever foray into the FF series. Over all the experience was good, I have to say the Japanese have a really different style & scale of telling a story. The world design was good apart from a few moments in the game where the word didn't really seem up to the next gen mark. Finished the game in about 20 hours with not much time spent on side quests (I had side quests & stuff). I guess this is the first ever JRPG/WRPG hybrid I have ever played (always been more of an adventure + hack'n'slash person) but the Japanese stress on personal emotions and feelings left a nice memory of the game.

Spoiler: show
End of chapter 9 & that ending

The camera in the battles was no help at all but the crazy non-stop action within battle scenes made it somewhat bearable. It would have been better if the frame rate were higher. Magic (spells) wasn't stressed enough in the game, felt more like an option rather than a necessary tool. World design and enemy design was good as well, especially in the latter stages encounters & daemons were getting a bit tougher. Loved the scale of the game, the elements & the myth. Just wish there was a primer for first time FF players.

All in all would like to rate the game 8.3/10.

So I recently finished playing The Order: 1886. I was sceptical about getting this game (even in $4) after looking at the reviews but I'm glad I gave it a go. It has been a very pleasant and unique experience in a Victorian world so beautifully crafted. This game presents some of the best acting, direction, visuals and sound that I've come across. I've looked at the criticism on this game and I have some issues with the game as well, but none of it makes it a mediocre game that critics have made it out to be, IMO. I think this game is a case of explaining away the good because you can't get around the bad in the game. In any case, for me, the game was engaging (completed most of it in a single session) with strong characters and an interesting story (the reviews generally claim the opposite and I honestly can't tell which game they played). The gameplay can be improved and diversified with puzzles, stealth elements, more meaningful exploration, and balanced gunplay. The ending was incomplete but suspenseful for a sequel. If I want to see any sequel in the recent gaming history, it is for this game. The IP belongs to Sony and I hope it does not fall prey to their corporatism.

I'd rate this game 8/10.

the game was actually pretty great the story was superb but all the criticism it received was mostly because the gameplay wasn't long enough for 60$

apparently at that time games like quantum break and RE 7 didn't existed.

for 4$ its a gold mine...

already got 100% on it .
