While Sony and Microsoft have been happily touting strong holiday sales for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, respectively, Nintendo has been struggling to keep up. The three-year old Wii U is barely reaching 15 million units sold (less than half of PS4’s despite having an extra year). The Wii U’s predecessor, the original Wii, sold 67 million units in the same time span and over 100 million overall and Nintendo is desperate need for something new. Their plan is to launch a hybrid platform that delivers both home console and 3DS-like handheld experiences. This system is codenamed the NX.
Nintendo has not shared much information on the new system outside of promising information this year and many perceive it to be the final chance for the historic console maker to compete with Microsoft and Sony after the failure of the Wii U. A report last summer suggested that the Mario creators were planning to manufacture the consoles this past autumn while aiming to ship 20 million units in its first year. And now we’re hearing that the NX will be revealed within the next few months.

The latest news comes from Japanese analyst Junko Yamamura of Nomura Securities, via a Barrons report, who suggests Nintendo will unveil the concept of the console in the months leading up to June (sometime between March and May) before the big reveal at E3 2016, and that the console will launch in either October or November of this year. The timelines are crucial to Nintendo as the financial group highlights the NX’s potential impact on Wii U and 3DS sales:
“We had previously thought that the NX launch would have only a limited impact on 3DS and Wii U sales as it is not being positioned as a successor to either console, but we have now altered our view because 3DS sales have been weakening a little recently, particularly in terms of software, as the machine enters its sixth year, and to factor in a harsher competitive climate and what happened to other existing consoles when new machines were launched in the past.”
The NX dates seem to be corroborated by the late Satoro Iwata’s words in March of 2015 when the console was first announced with the chief executive saying, “It is too early to elaborate on the details of this project, but we hope to share more information with you next year.”
Nintendo has also been quiet on the relationship the NX will have with its mobile efforts as the company partnered with Japanese-based DeNA to develop mobile games, with the first being a free-to-play title akin to Tomodachi Life called Miitomo. The company recently clarified its stance on what types of content fans will see on mobile platforms promising “new compelling experiences” and sadly not ports of old school console and handheld games. In other less favorable news, Nintendo’s stock dropped 5% in Tokyo after the company delayed its mobile games launch from late 2015 to sometime in 2016 and therefore delaying any revenue it would have made for the 2015 year.

[h=1]Nintendo NX Rumors: Wii U Remasters, More Powerful Than PS4[/h]

Hopefully it won’t take as long for Nintendo to reveal the secrets of the games company’s next console as it has for all the tricks of NES’ Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out to be discovered. So far all fans have to go on about the Nintendo NX is a sea of rumors and some imaginative yet fake controllers.
It’s widely predicted that the NX could bring the big N back from the brink of irrelevance – or it could finish it off, forcing them to finally give up on the hardware game altogether. Recently there was speculation that more attention is being given to the technical aspects to whatever the NX is as well as its ability to communicate with smartphone devices (unsurprising given Miitomo’s success). Now, the latest rumors suggest what kind of software Nintendo is planning, which apparently includes a number of Wii U remasters or ports.

The information comes via NeoGAF user 10K and it was backed by Emily Rogers, a longtime Nintendo blogger who has often been cited as well informed insider. Her social media account was recently reactivated after a brief hiatus, although her posts are now protected. According to a Nintendo Life report, she states that a number of Wii U ports are in development. These include the latest Zelda, Smash Bros, Super Mario Maker and Splatoon that could all receive NX versions. Rogers puts forward that even though these titles are considered in development it does not mean that they will see the light of day although according to the people she spoke to, Zelda and Smash Bros are almost certainties.

Most already expect the next Legend of Zelda game to release on NX, potentially alongside the Wii U version, just like Twilight Princess did on Wii and GameCube. Smash Bros. makes sense, as a new version that comes with all the DLC bundled in would surely sell well on a new console and hold fans over until the next full title in the series. Nintendo isn’t exactly new to ports or remasters, after all; the Wii U’s modest library includes two HD remasters of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. Nintendo might be better served in cracking Wii U backward compatibility as oppose to porting everything over.
Another rumor that is starting to gain momentum is one regarding the NX’s technical prowess. Apparently it will be more powerful than the PS4 by a considerable amount. It’s about time Nintendo beefed up their systems although same may argue it’s too little too late. Should Nintendo really be praised for taking so long to create a machine that can match technology that is a few years old now? What happens when the PS4.5 is revealed? Will Nintendo be left in Sony’s dust yet again?
There’s also a suggestion that the handheld element of the console is still a complete mystery, even to developers. Apparently those that have dev kits still don’t know anything about it. That could be a major problem if Nintendo wants to finally get third party development on board. The lack of that kind of support arguably contributed to the demise of Nintendo’s last two consoles. It will take the mother of all Nintendo Directs for the company to announce everything, good job E3 isn’t too far away now.

[h=2]Wii U production could continue until 2018, Nintendo confirms[/h][h=3]Next year's NX 'won't simply replace' the console[/h]

Nintendo could end production of Wii U systems by March 2018, company president and CEO Tatsumi Kimishima told investors this morning. Reuters reported the news from today's Q&A session, where Kimishima discussed Nintendo's previous fiscal year, upcoming release plans and the future of its current consoles.
Earlier this year, Japanese newspaper Nikkei reported that Nintendo planned to cease manufacturing Wii U hardware by the end of 2016. Nintendo denied this claim, but offered no other timeline. This is the first time that Nintendo has pinpointed an end for Wii U, giving it upward of two more years in production.

In its new financial report, Nintendo predicted that it will sell 800,000 Wii U systems during the current business year. Last year, the company moved 3.26 million units of the hardware.
That forecast is certainly colored by the announcement of the NX's launch date. Nintendo said that it's next gaming platform will arrive in March 2017. It won't be present at this year's E3, however; expect more information about it later this year.
Kimishima maintained that NX won't "simply replace the 3DS and Wii U" during today's Q&A, according to the Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki. A launch title, the next The Legend of Zelda game, will arrive on both NX and Wii U in 2017. That game will be Nintendo's sole playable release on the showfloor at June's E3 event.

[h=2]Nintendo won't sell NX at a loss, president says[/h][h=3]The company won't rush the hardware for this holiday, either[/h]

Nintendo hasn't yet announced the price of its next console, codenamed the NX, but the company recently indicated that it does not intend to take a loss with each sale.
"We are not thinking of launching the hardware at a loss," said Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima during an investor meeting last week. "Selling at a loss at launch would not support the business."

Kimishima added that Nintendo is developing the NX hardware with that mission in mind, suggesting that the company is looking to keep costs down for the console's components and manufacturing process.
Historically, Nintendo priced its hardware to make a profit, even at launch. That's the opposite of the strategy employed by Sony and Microsoft, which usually take a loss on hardware sales and hope to make it up in software. However, that changed with the debut of the Wii U in fall 2012. The strength of the Japanese yen at the time was a major factor in Nintendo's decision to launch the Wii U at a loss, and it took until the spring of 2014 for the company to make money with each Wii U sale.

Kimishima also responded to comments about Nintendo's decision to launch the NX next March, when it seemed like the company had planned to release the console this year. One investor pointed out that Nintendo's two previous presidents noted the importance of launching before the holiday season — Hiroshi Yamauchi with the GameCube (which arrived in November 2001), and Satoru Iwata with the Nintendo 3DS (which missed the window, launching in early 2011).
Launching the NX in March 2017 doesn't mean that Nintendo no longer believes that the holiday season matters, said Kimishima. Instead, one of the major factors in the timing is ensuring that the console has a sufficient launch lineup.

We believe that when launching hardware, the amount of quality software for consumers to play that is available at launch is important, and that we ought to determine our launch dates based on this," said Kimishima. "In that sense, our approach is that we should wait until we can provide a fully realized experience rather than rushing to launch in the holiday season."
A new Legend of Zelda game is in development for NX; the title will be released simultaneously on both Wii U and NX in 2017, just like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess debuted on both GameCube and Wii in late 2006. Nintendo will not show the NX at E3 2016; instead, the company plans to reveal the hardware later this year.

[h=1]Nintendo NX Launching In 2017 To Ensure Large Games Lineup[/h]

Gamers and media insiders still have no idea what exactly the Nintendo NX is. It will be the house of Mario’s next game platform but whether or not it will be a hybrid of a handheld and typical home console along with what kind of controller it will have is still subject to wild speculation. There’s also rumors of Wii U remasters.
Nintendo announced that the NX will release in March 2017, while also revealing that the next Legend of Zelda game has been delayed so it can launch on both the NX and Wii U simultaneously, something many had already expected after the same thing happened with the original Twilight Princess during the previous console generation transition. During the company’s fiscal year briefing, Nintendo’s President explained a little bit more about the decision for the chosen release window.
Nintendo published President Tatsumi Kimishima’s full presentation from the company’s Financial Results Briefing for Fiscal Year Ended March 2016 on their website and in it are slides about upcoming titles, particularly for Nintendo 3DS including the worldwide Winter 2016 release of Pokémon Sun and Moon. Kimishima also reiterated the news that the Nintendo NX console will land early next year. Many fans and industry experts were expecting such information to be made public during E3, but as in recent years, Nintendo is not hosting a full press conference and instead is focusing purely on The Legend of Zelda – their only playable game coming to E3 2016.

The Q&A session with the President revealed more details from queries about the NX release date. One question about the decision to avoid having the system launch during the financial year at a time when Nintendo really needs to improve their income saw Kimishima respond with hints that it is so the company can ensure the NX system has a significant amount of games ready for launch.
“We will introduce NX concepts and details at another time, so I will restrict my answer to the question asked. You are correct about needing a solid lineup of software. One of the reasons for choosing the launch timing that we did is so that the software lineup will be ready in time for the hardware launch. Not only at launch, but we also need to be able to continuously release titles after launch. We are planning for this to be a platform that consumers can enjoy for a long time.”
Nintendo knows just how much the future of the company is dependent on the success of the NX after the low sales and support for the Wii U, and one way to make sure any system is a hit is to have quality games on it – something the Wii U struggled with in having too few Nintendo greats. Interestingly, another question put to the President enabled him to reiterate just how serious Nintendo is taking mobile gaming after Miitomo reaching 3 million users, stating that the company is treating it mobile as a significant money maker.
“We want to grow smart device gaming as one of the pillars of Nintendo’s revenue stream. As for shifting managerial resources in that direction, we have very capable developers who are working on development of games for smart devices, as you already know. Of course, Mr. Miyamoto, our Creative Fellow, is also supporting the business for smart devices.”
With E3 being used as a sole focus on The Legend of Zelda, we will have to wait for a very special Nintendo Direct to finally get the official NX reveal that will hopefully include a full and lengthy launch lineup.
Nintendo NX is scheduled to launch March 2017.

[h=1]Nintendo NX May Use Cards Instead of Discs[/h]

As the console gaming market continues to undergo generational shifts that have led to Microsoft considering cross-platform play and Sony opting to upgrade the PlayStation 4 well ahead of its traditional life cycle, the most mysterious question hovering over the industry continues to be the fate of Nintendo. The last remaining console giant from the medium’s so-called “Golden Age” period and owner of several of gaming’s most recognizable properties — including Super Mario Bros, Pokemon and The Legend of Zelda the Japanese company has seen its Wii U console fail to deliver the big sales of its predecessor and recently delayed the release of the next Zelda title for a dual-launch on their next console — an enigmatic new device codenamed The NX.
Now, new reports suggest the company may take its old-school reputation to the next level — by returning to solid-state media for the NX’s games.
According to the Japanese financial site Money-Link (via Games Radar), the speculation comes from a financial report by Taiwanese memory manufacturer Macronix, which reported to its investors that it expects a significantly higher volume of orders for its products (including a proposed plus-size 32GB model) specifically relating to the launch of Nintendo’s new console, which is expected to hit in March of 2017. Notably, Macronix has a preexisting relationship with Nintendo as the main supplier of the proprietary memory cards used to store games for the 3DS handheld console.

What makes that confluence of information interesting is that rumors have persisted for over a year that the NX would forego the disc-based storage that has defined console gaming for most of the 21st century thus far, with alleged early “leaked” patents showing a device schematic that omitted an optical disc-drive altogether. While some at the time speculated this meant a download-focused device, later (more concrete) information centered on the idea of a console/handheld hybrid system, leading many analysts to speculate that the device would be a 3DS-successor handheld capable of streaming its games to a television — which would likely mean games stored on solid-state media of the type Macronix already manufactures for the current-gen 3DS.

If so, it would make the Nintendo NX the first major home gaming console to be based around solid-state media since the cartridge-based Nintendo 64 in the late 1990s. While several independent consoles have launched attempting to revive the cartridge format, the idea of a major console maufacturer going that route in 2016 would typically sound absurd — despite the nostalgic attachment that many older gamers who came up in the ’80s and ’90s have for the pre-optical-disc era. However, several factors would suggest that the move might make sense given Nintendo’s past decisions and known future plans.
Whereas other console companies have long embraced universal disc formats, Nintendo has typically favored proprietary software formats. Also, the company has openly stated that it plans to sell the main NX hardware at a profit, which would require keeping the main unit affordable — a difficult prospect in an era where expensive-to-produce high-powered internal processing is a must for many modern games. However, storing games on cards, cartridges or some other solid-state format would allow much of an individual game’s memory needs to be met by the game itself — reducing the need for extra memory to be available inside the console itself.
As is generally the case with Nintendo, it’s unlikely fans will know the answer until much closer to the reveal of the NX itself — which the company still does not plan to unveil until a much later date. While many had expected it to be shown at this year’s E3 show, Nintendo will instead focus its efforts on promoting the new Zelda title.

[h=1]Rumor: Nintendo NX Production Delayed To Add VR Functionality[/h]

As the console video game industry continues through an an era of upheaval that’s already seen Microsoft make a bid for cross-platform play, Sony launch a new Playstation well ahead of traditional schedules and longtime developers branching out for surprising multimedia deals, eyes increasingly turn toward Nintendo and their mysterious NX hardware as a potential hope to reinvigorate and market rendered uneasy by changing consumer tastes. Which is why many were both surprised and dismayed to learn that the unit would be skipping this year’s upcoming E3 convention and launching in early 2017 rather than the 2016 holiday season, as had been rumored.
Now, a new rumor claims to know why production of the top-secret console was delayed – and what form gamers can expect it to take when it arrives.
The rumor, as reported by DIGITimes, claims to be based on information from China-based electronics manufacturer Foxxcon (a.k.a. Hon Hai Precision Industry), which is slated to be one of the main fabricators of NX units and component parts. According to DIGITimes, NX mass-production was scheduled to begin in mid-2016 but was delayed until early 2017 – along with a shift in production order from over 20 million units to a more conservative 9-1o million. The rationale alleged to have been offered is as follows:
“Nintendo wished to enhance the game console’s video-game/handheld-game-integrated gaming experience and add virtual reality (VR) function into the system to gain advantages in the upcoming video game and mobile game competitions.”

If this rumor were to prove correct, it would mark a significant change in corporate behavior from Nintendo, who have traditionally avoided following trends set by the broader industry and especially rival console makers. It also raises new questions about the as-yet-unknown processing power level of the NX itself: Both Sony and Microsoft (supposedly) have dedicated VR platforms in development for their respective consoles, and the electronic muscle required to make VR perform as designed is believed to be one of the main reasons why both the Playstation and Xbox brands are being upgraded significantly ahead of the “normal” console schedule.
Of greater interest to gamers in the immediate present, however, could be DIGITimes’ casual mention of supposedly “known” design specifications for the NX unit itself, which (if correct) could well be the first solid idea of what the mysterious device actually is. For over a year, speculation has coalesced around the idea of the NX as a console/handheld “hybrid” device that would replace not only the Wii U as Nintendo’s main TV-integrated gaming hardware but also the DS product line by doubling as a handheld. Now, DIGITimes’ rumors would appear to back up that speculation, describing the NX thusly:
“The sources pointed out that the Nintendo NX combines the video gaming experience with the mobile gaming experience. The device features a 5- to 7-inch display, controller and joystick for users to play as a mobile gaming product, but it is also able to connect to a TV for users to play as a video game system.”
It’s unlikely that this latest batch of rumors will inspire any further revelations or official confirmation from Nintendo itself, as the company is famously private about its plans. Officially, the Japanese gaming giant is currently focused on the debut of the new Legend of Zelda title at E3 and its recent foray into producing feature films based on its game franchises.
Screen Rant will have more updates for you on the Nintendo NX as they are made available.

[h=1]Everything we know about Nintendo NX[/h]

It's been more than a year since Nintendo announced its next hardware was on the way ... and we still don't know very much about it.
As its reported March 2017 debut inches closer, the codenamed Nintendo NX system remains, in large part, a mystery. Polygon has collected the facts — and fictions — that we've heard since Nintendo confirmed its new game console was on its way.
[h=3]What's its name?[/h]We've been calling it Nintendo NX, but only because we don't have an actual name to go by. NX is the hardware's codename; like the codenames for systems like the Wii (nee Revolution) and GameCube (Dolphin) before it, it's catchy, but NX is not here to stay.
[h=3]What does it do?[/h]Play games, obviously. Nintendo has constantly referred to the NX as a "dedicated game system" since announcing it in March 2015. A patent filed that February, however, suggested that the console lacks an optical disc drive, leading many to wonder if Nintendo is going download-only or even back to cartridges, if it chooses to stick with a physical format.
[h=3]Games like ... ?[/h]The only one we know for sure is The Legend of Zelda. We've already seen a bit of the game, albeit on Wii U. It's expected to launch on both consoles in March 2017, probably alongside the NX.
Square Enix said it was considering bringing Dragon Quest 10 and 11 to NX too. Industry analyst Serkan Toto suggests that Bandai Namco is also signing up for several NX games, and that the next Super Smash Bros. could be a launch title.

[h=3]Okay, games aside, what else can the NX do?[/h]The NX will also connect to smartphones, PCs and other Nintendo systems thanks to the company's newly unified membership service. First announced alongside the NX in March 2015, Nintendo launched the Nintendo Account platform earlier this year. You can register for one now; it connects to your social media and Nintendo Network accounts. It's still unclear how the cross-platform functionality of the Nintendo Account will be realized across the NX and Nintendo's other consoles.
[h=3]Does that mean NX is compatible with Wii U? Isn't it supposed to replace that thing?[/h]Nintendo has maintained time and again that the NX isn't "the next version of Wii or Wii U," as president Tatsumi Kimishima said in December. "[NX] is something unique and different."
That doesn't mean that the NX will be backward compatible with Wii U, or that it won't replace it. In fact, reports have pointed to the system being a very different kind of thing indeed: a console and handheld hybrid. In October, the Wall Street Journal reported that the hardware "would likely include both a console at least one mobile unit," using — get ready for it — "industry-leading chips," ensuring that it's more powerful than Wii U. (It won't run off Android software, however; Nintendo denied that rumor about the system's internals last June.)
Based on that, rumors swirled that NX would take up the mantle of both Nintendo's home and portable consoles. But just last month, a Japanese publication reported that a potential portable console successor was in the works, codenamed MH.

[h=3]This is ... confusing.[/h]It is! And it only gets more confusing. Go ahead and ask us about the controller.
[h=3]OK ... What newfangled controller does Nintendo have planned this time?[/h]This is one of the NX's weirdest mysteries. Nintendo filed a patent for a potential handheld system, gaming controller or both last June. The application details a piece of hardware that has an elliptically shaped touchscreen embedded within a standard controller. The touchscreen's display would feature virtual buttons alongside the standard, physical control sticks and shoulder buttons. Another patent filed earlier that year, in February, suggested Nintendo would just iterate on the Wii U GamePad, introducing scrolling click wheels for shoulder buttons.
There's no confirmation that either one is NX's controller, but these patents does speak to the hybrid reports and the company's claims that this is a "unique and different" system. That's what compelled two separate tricksters to pull a fast one on Nintendo fans earlier this year: Photos surfaced of the alleged NX controller, which appeared to match the touchscreen hybrid patent's description pretty closely. Turns out they were just very elaborate fakes created with a 3D printer.
[h=3]That IS weird. Do we know what the console looks like at all?[/h]Nope. We have yet to actually see the NX in any capacity whatsoever. Again: We don't even know what it's called. We do know that Nintendo expects not to sell the hardware at a loss once it's on the market, however; it's intent on keeping the manufacturing costs down.
[h=3]Hmm. Well, I'm sure we'll see it at E3 then.[/h]Nope. We won't. Although Nintendo announced ahead of June's E3 event that it will dedicate its showing solely to the new The Legend of Zelda, except the only playable version that the company is bringing with it is for Wii U. The first official details about NX are expected later this year.
[h=3]Ugh. Why isn't the system coming out until 2017, anyway?[/h]President Kimishima said in May that having a solid library of games ready at launch is a key reason why. The company is passing on shipping the console in time for the holiday season, as originally thought, so that it will have a number of titles available when the console arrives.
[h=3]That makes sense.[/h]You know, it does. That doesn't assuage our anxiety about not actually knowing what the NX looks like, or is called, or really anything else about it. We'll have to hang on until sometime after E3 to learn more.
E3 2016 begins on June 14, with press conferences starting June 12. For the big announcements, make sure to check out our one-stop shop for the show's streams.

[h=2]Report: Nintendo NX will be portable, cartridge-based console[/h][h=3]With its own display and detachable controllers[/h]

Nintendo's next console will be handheld, come with its own display and use cartridges, according to Eurogamer. Several sources gave these and other new details to the website about the still-unnamed system, currently known by the codename NX.
The NX will include detachable controllers that sit on either side of its screen, according to the report. It also comes with a docking station to connect the system to a television to use as a more traditional home console.

Unlike current-generation consoles, however, Nintendo's upcoming hardware will use cartridges, Eurogamer said. This choice of media speaks to its dual status as a console and handheld system, although the size and format of these cartridges has not been confirmed.
One source told Eurogamer that the console will not be backward-compatible with other Nintendo systems. This is unlike its current hardware, the Wii U, as well as most previous Nintendo home and handheld systems.
Internally, the system reportedly uses the Nvidia Tegra mobile processor. We had previously heard from the Wall Street Journal last fall that Nintendo was going after "industry-leading chips" to power its new system.
Nintendo decided against debuting the NX at E3 2016 this past June, instead electing to unveil the system later this year. It's slated to hit retail in March 2017, with games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild — and third-party titles like Sega's Project Sonic — currently in the works for the console.
Although we know little about the NX thus far, it's long been the subject of rumors and anonymous reports suggesting that the system would look radically different from past Nintendo consoles. These included indications that the system would lack an optical disc drive, include a new type of controller and more.

[h=2]Nintendo NX’s reported design recalls systems from the company’s past[/h][h=3]New details are putting creative minds to work[/h]

Nintendo’s next hardware remains unseen, but a report from Eurogamer that surfaced earlier today suggests the console — referred to by its codename, NX — will feature drastic changes over its predecessors. The details of its allegedly handheld-style design, befit with detachable controllers and a built-in display, has prompted some Nintendo fans to come up with their own illustrations.
These include a reporter from Eurogamer, who offered an unofficial picture of the concept on Twitter.

Here's the Nintendo NX design (NB: not Nintendo's illustration, but useful pic of concept) https://t.co/zPMrglRVov pic.twitter.com/nZQuLj2DAH
— Tom Phillips (@tomphillipsEG) July 26, 2016
The controllers can reattach to the sides of the screen to create something resembling a Game Boy Advance or Wii U GamePad, according to Eurogamer’s sources.
To others, though, the NX recalls systems from even further back in Nintendo’s past. A lengthy thread on NeoGAF includes many of these comparisons, including one to Nintendo’s very first home console, the Family Computer.
Known as the Famicom, the red-and-beige hardware include slots on either side where two controllers could be stored. The Famicom didn’t have a display as the NX purportedly does, of course, although Nintendo’s latest console is said to be able to hook up to the big screen. (The system also lacked a native disc drive, just as the NX apparently does.) That aside, it’s worth remembering that a console with a controller dock is something Nintendo has tried out before.
Older still is the Game & Watch Micro Vs. System. This tiny console was part of Nintendo’s Game & Watch line of handhelds that came with pre-installed arcade games. The Micro Vs. System played games like Donkey Kong 3 and Boxing, and it had a clamshell-style design with a screen that flipped up to reveal two controllers. These controllers were otherwise kept inside the portable, meaning that to the layman, the system just looked like a tiny LCD screen with a few buttons.
Nintendo fans are just as eager to look to the future in considering what the NX could look like, however. Several forum users have shared their own design ideas, with the most popular one closely resembling the Wii U GamePad, albeit with the ability to remove the center screen.

NeoGAF Others went for a more homegrown, hand-drawn approach. The illustration below also borrows from the New Nintendo 3DS, affixing analog stick-like "nubs" to the corners for added control options.
NeoGAF Some have gotten less creative with their suggested NX designs, however. See below for one user’s suggestion for the new hardware, which is a GamePad with some Wiimotes attached. This served as Nintendo's prototype for the controller, first seen in an Iwata Asks session about the Wii U's development.

[h=2]Report: Nintendo NX will get Zelda, Mario and Pokémon games within first six months[/h][h=3]Big games in a short time[/h]

Nintendo’s next home console could boast a library of big games from the Mario, The Legend of Zelda and Pokémon franchises just months after launch, according to MCV. The British trade publication reports that the hardware, known as the NX for now, will receive these marquee titles within its first six months on the market, citing "sources close to Nintendo."
Leading the three games is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which Nintendo has already set for a March 2017 release on Wii U. Breath of the Wild, the first mainline Zelda game since 2011, is expected to arrive alongside the codename NX system when it hits shelves that month as well.

There are no details about what the proposed new Mario game could be, but MCV’s sources said that Pokémon’s NX debut will come from Game Freak, maker of the mainline handheld titles. If true, the Pokémon title would be Game Freak’s first series entry to ever hit a home system, although other developers have brought it to consoles before.
Yet the NX, according to earlier reports, won’t be a traditional console. The successor to the Wii U is said to be portable with an embedded display and the ability to dock it for playing on a bigger screen. Eurogamer said that the handheld/home console-hybrid will include detachable controllers and use cartridges, not discs, harkening back to Nintendo’s earlier years.
MCV’s own sources corroborated Eurogamer’s report, but Nintendo itself has stayed quiet as to what the NX entails. The company has referred to the unnamed console as its next "dedicated game system" in past statements; its president Tatsumi Kimishima also said that the console has stayed under wraps as Nintendo readies a breadth of content for launch.
We’ll finally learn more about the NX later this year, perhaps as soon as September.

[h=2]Nintendo patents for accessories, gesture controls hint at NX features[/h][h=3]Could those NX rumors be true?[/h]

Several patent applications filed by Nintendo this past January were published online today, and their contents are reminiscent of recent reports about the company’s next game console, known only as the NX. As spotted by users on NeoGAF, one of the documents details a detachable accessory for a handheld device — much like the NX is rumored to have.
One patent application is for a controller-like accessory that plugs into "an information processing device." That device is most commonly shown to be a portable, tablet-like system in images included in the document. The accessory has four buttons, enabling its use as a controller, with other images showing how the buttons can be pressed to become operational.

The document is a bit of a dense read, but the pictures are what’s important. The detachable item looks and sounds like what’s been described by outlets like Eurogamer, which reported earlier this month that the NX is a portable console that is equipped with two removable controllers and is capable of docking to a bigger screen. Nintendo has not confirmed the report, but it’s been corroborated by sources close to the company, Eurogamer said, with additional rumors trailing in ever since.
The other applications detail gesture-based input technology for a new system, eliminating the need for a controller at all. A camera housed on the handheld system would capture gesture information from a player’s hand to control a game. That’s the sort of new technology that Nintendo is known for when introducing a new system, and the gesture operations appear in the controller patent application as well.

Similar technology was seen in a patent filed in July 2015. That application, published in March, goes in-depth on a portable device that was operated by right hand gestures, as the left hand gripped the handheld system. The application calls for an infrared camera to assess a player's hand motions, just as the newer document does.
We’ll have to wait until this fall to find out what the NX actually looks like and if the series of patents applies to the console. Find out everything we do know about Nintendo’s next console in our explainer — just keep in mind that the company has confirmed almost nothing about the system thus far.

[h=2]Report: Nintendo NX could be region-free[/h][h=3]Let the imports begin[/h]

Nintendo’s next gaming system could lack region-locking, allowing owners to buy and play games from any country, according to new reports. Let’s Play Video Games cites sources with knowledge of the console, known only as NX for now, who say that early development kits can run software from any region.

That would be a major if small change from Nintendo’s earlier home consoles. Wii U, Wii, GameCube and beyond can only play games from their region of origin, meaning American gamers have had to miss out on games like Captain Rainbow, Disaster: Day of Crisis and Doshin the Giant. These and other Nintendo-published titles skipped the U.S. but had Japanese and European launches. If the NX system can run any region’s titles, it would allow fans to import exclusive games that skipped their home countries.
Prior to Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo’s handhelds have traditionally been region-free as well. (That means imported copies of Mother 3 and Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupee Land are playable on any compatible hardware.) The NX is rumored to be a portable system, and Let’s Play Video Games’ latest report says the dockable hardware could be slightly thicker than a Nintendo 3DS XL. (That’s with its expected detachable controllers attached.) Still, Nintendo hasn’t called it a successor to the 3DS — or Wii U, for that matter.
That’s because we still know next to nothing about what the codename NX system actually is. Despite rumors and reports piling on on a regular basis, Nintendo has not confirmed any details about its next gaming system. Everything we know about NX, beyond its existence, March 2017 launch window and handful of titles, is speculative or unconfirmed. We hope to know more later this fall.

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.

After I watched it, I never felt like i watched a show. It was a friggin journey. I got way too attached to Thorfinn and seeing him grow up and find himself and get rid of all the negativity inside of him was just pure bliss.
