Hey everyone!

So I finally decided to properly step into PC gaming and I am pretty excited. This is going to be my first build in a very very long time (last PC built in 2003) so naturally, I am confused. The budget is not a big problem but still it would be nice to save some cash. I am currently in Lahore right now and it would be best if I got the parts and components physically in a shop. I don't really trust online stores over here due to some bad experiences so I also need advise as to which shops are the best in Lahore that can fulfill my need.

Currently, my mind is preoccupied with the following setup:

Processor: Intel Core i7 6700k
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VIII Formula
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws V 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 3000 MHz
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080 (Would love to get my hands on Asus Strix)
Chassis:Thermaltake Core V71 Power Cover edition
Power Supply: Thermaltake TR2 Gold 700W SLI/CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Power Supply

I am still perplexed about the storage system, optical drives and cooling solution for this PC. Any advise regarding the whole build will be truly appreciated.

Thank you and Regards

I hear you. Can this case handle two 1080's? Because I might another 1080 in the near future. I am a total noob when it comes to PC components.

will u be overclocking ur CPU??

u need to get combination of SSD and HDD normally people prefer 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD (but offcourse it depends on ur budget and need)with 256GB SSD u can keep windows and 2-3 games u play regularly on it rest of the storage can be done in HDD

Corsair H115i or CM Nepton are good option if u want to go with liquid cooler or Noctua NH-D15 if air (but noctua will not be available here in Pakistan)

Get a Bluray player if u buy DVDs if u just get ur stuff through download get a DVD player

Initially, no. I am thinking of keeping it at stock speed. A combination of 256 SSD and 1 TB HDD does not seem bad. As you said, will keep the windows and prolly 2-3 games in SSD.
I have seen the Corsair H115i and the reviews are decent. But what if I don't overclock my cpu? Is it ok to forego the option of liquid cooling right now?
And yes, I think a simple blu-ray reader will do nicely.

if not overclocking then go for a non-k version (i.e 6700) and if u will only use it for gaming a an i5 instead as i5 is more than enough for gaming
stock cooler will be ok if no overclocking, i have i5 4430 for about 2-2.5yrs with stock cooler and never felt to go for after market.... but if u really want to go after market get CM hyper 212+ (its descent for price and better than stock)

Hmmm... Some of my friends said the same thing. Get an i5 6600 because its also a quad core and will be enough for games and such. Well lets see. Any recommendations for PSU?

Thanks bro. I went to the market today to check out some components. I could not find Thermaltake core v71 chassis anywhere nor the Rog Maximus VIII Formula. Instead, the shopkeeper recommended me to go for Asus Z170 Deluxe motherboard. Is it any good? Any idea?

Hmm no no dude you should absolutely not get an i5 CPU with the sort of budget you have. And even if you don't overclock the 6700k is much faster than 6700. For people with no budget limitations there is literally no reason to get a CPU lower than 6700k.

Yes the ASUS deluxe board is fantastic.

You should get a 512GB SSD as they provide great value for money now. You should aim to have every single game installed on SSD. You can always buy another one in future so 512GB will be more than enough for now.

4 core is capable to run games smooth. While for heavy games like bf 3,4 required over clocked processor to boost up the performance. Sometimes to terminate bottlenecking if any. Talking any the mp gameplay. This is just an example of over clocking influence. If u have the budget enugh that go with 6700k then it s recommended. Future proofing and versatile performance

As for PSU, depending on your budget, rx750w or 850 would be great.

Edit: I have core v51 but it's kinda masterpiece production from thermal take won't sell that one [emoji4]

Yes you are right. I am going to go for an intel 6700k processor. I guess it will be good for another 3-4 years. And about the SSD, I was thinking about 256GB because it is comparatively cheaper than 512GB obviously but after reading all the articles and reviews, I think I will go for a 512GB one.

@nafu
Regarding the PSU, I have the Corsair HX850i and RM850 in mind because these are platinum and gold certified respectively. So probably will pick one of these.

@mac007
I MIGHT overclock the cpu but not right now. Z170 deluxe offers overclocking options and has built in WiFi too (which Maximus VIII Hero lacks) so I guess it works for me. About the casing, I really love the TT core v71 but Corsair graphite 780t is a beauty too. But lets see which one I can get my hands on.

And thank you guys for your replies. Helped me a lot in shaping my decision. Will prollly go after Eid now to finally pick up the stuff.

512GB SSDs cost around double of 256GB SSDs. So obviously no reason to buy 256 if not on tight budget. Games are getting so big you will eventually use more than 256 so good choice.

Don't put any stock on built in wifi you should be using Ethernet for best performance anyways. And you can always get a USB wifi device which is for all practical purposes as good as built in.

I actually think you might be going over board on the motherboard. Extreme high end boards are only really for extreme overclocks or triple GPU users. I think the ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming will serve you very well. But but since you clearly have a big budget if your heart wants the deluxe then by all means go for it. I am only against such boards when people are sacrificing other parts of the build which you are not so more power to you.

Full tower casings are ugly in my opinion. All you need is a case which is wide and long. My HAF 922 can house any CPU cooler or graphics card you can imagine. For standard ATX motherboard there is really no need for full tower.

Ahan. Well lets see what I find in the market. The one I saw over there physically was of NZXT H440, Cooler Master Pro 5 and Thermaltake Corev51

What is peoples obsession with Battle Royale genre. 6 minutes to find a match, 3 minutes to setup a match, 2 minutes to land, 10 minutes for scavanging maybe 2 3 gunfigts and its over. Multiplayer landscape is looking absolute dogshit.
I tried playing Apex Legends once. Couldn't find a gun for 5 minutes straight. If I found a gun, I couldn't find the right ammo for it. Got killed fighting with my fists. Uninstalled it the next day.
