Nayatel Ports Fowarding

On 18 Nov 2020, I asked the NTL Whatsapp Support for ports fowarding. They suggested me to get either Eview or Optimus Service to get a Dynamic Public IP. I subscribed to Optimus and I was able to open any port I wanted to host my service on.

Now since start of Feb 2022, ports forwarding stopped working and restarting the ONT didn't fix it.

Is there any other user who is having same issue like this?

Regards~

Weirdly enough, NTL restricts which ports can be opened on residential connections. I'll DM you the list of ports that can be opened.

I was running a Plex server on its standard port of 32400 which randomly stopped working one day, and then I called them up and explained the issue and asked the agent to give me the full list of ports that can be opened.

So far the list has been 100% accurate, I've hosted my Plex server, and several game servers without issue.

I'm sure they have made some changes in Feb 2022, without even telling the customers. I have no issue with NTL.

This Ports Fowarding is the only issue. I'm running a Homelab at home. It has a Nginx Reverse Proxy through which I access my services. I need port 80/443 for this. Plus my own WireGuard Server and few other things as well along with some game servers I host occasionally.

I'll eat their heads until the fix this.

Good luck and do update this thread if you get a response from them.

I faced this issue long ago, it's been more than a year if I remember correctly. Went crazy trying to figure out why some ports were usable, but most weren't.

I didn't have the time to get after them and instead just decided to host whatever I needed to on the weird non-standard ports that they do allow.

This is totally nonsense, I unsubscribed to Optimus and tested the eView Service which gave me URL to get access to a simple web server running at the user endpoint. This url doesn't allow subdomains so can't use any Reverse-Proxy stuff.

Now back to where I started, unsubscribed eView and got Optimus back, and guess what... Ports are working once again. 80/443 and all others are usable.

Totally weird & nonsense journey.

Port forwarding still working for me as long as i'm subscribed to Optimus. Had to re-sub for a little while and viola. Haven't tried e-view though that was recommended as well. port forwarding seems to be working fine atm

I had been using Eview to access my self hosted services. Recently unsubscribed and going to try Optimus now.

Ports 80 and 443 wont work on any of nayatel's services though.

Are these ports the only open ports on nayatel's residential networks or you need optimus to access these ports?

Firstly, you'll need Optimus to get a Public IP, then you'll have selected ports opened which you can use.

If you get lucky like me, and get IP from a IP Pool, where the Ingress Router allows all ports, you can use any port.

Is it the newly introduced pool? 154.x.x.x? I rarely get an IP from that pool, but whenever I do, I can use any port.

All the other pools (115.x, 58.x, 101.x etc) limit me to specific ports, so I have to host Plex + WireGuard on non standard ports.

Apologies for the late reply, didn't get any notification. Yes, I'm on the 154.x.x.x Pool since a year. Is it new, I don't know. All ports are accessible on it. Others pools won't allow you to.

I'm running my home server on a Reverse-Proxy Setup, where my services are accessible over the Internet with Cloudflare in between here for security.
